The tiny castles were cool, but vehicles? I didn't expect that. Masters of the Universe M.U.S.C.L.E. wowed me with two vehicles - that's good! - both of which come with repackaged figures - that's bad. A complete set of series 3 means you'll have two Battle Armor He-Man and Skeletor.
I won't lie to you - the vehicles are big enough to be worth $6 to me. I've paid more for less, and they're bigger and more impressive than their ALIENS counterparts. This is a big piece here!
The pilot is Battle Armor He-Man. The armor has the big "H" on it, but his axe looks closer to the Filmation one we saw in Masters of the Universe Classics for Skeletor. The ball top extends above the blades, but at this size it's a minor detail and nobody but me is going to care. The figure's stance is wide enough to fit the included vehicle, which is important - the plastic's durometer doesn't have the "give" that the original M.U.S.C.L.E. line. This means He-Man's strong and sturdy, able to clamp on thanks to his mighty thighs.
He has a big head that's closer in line to the M.U.S.C.L.E. style than series 1. He's also bigger and meatier than some of the non-Eternians in Super7's mini-figure line. He-Man's face is big and bright, with fists ready to punch or fist bump or whatever it is you're going to have him do.
If you want vehicles, and you do, get the Wind Raider. There's very little detail, but it's big and the form is right. You get the anchor, the bird detail, the wings, the rudder, and seating for one. By seating, I mean standing room only. It's a substantial little craft made of at least two pieces. It feels like it's at least three figures' worth of plastic, although there are no moving parts or anything like that. It's small, and it's a thing you can collect. I'm getting a tremendous kick out of the fact they're trying this kind of thing.
I can't say that everybody needs a cache of these in their homes, but it's a heck of a nice set in a really fun toy line. I don't know how much longer this can go on, but with new licenses I'll be kept busy for a while. You'll get your money's worth on this one, provided you get a kick out of the concept of this set. Otherwise, why are you even reading this?
