The bulk of these Blokees Defender figures do a good job bringing you heads that look like the cartoon or the toy, but Scourge is doing something else. This one has distinctive facial hair - no real beard, no mustache, just a little bit of metal on the chin. The result is, more or less, a completely new character and it leaves the door open for a "real" Scourge head later.

As usual, the figure is mostly old from the elbows and waist down. The chest, head, wings, shoulders, and accessories are unique. He has nicely jointed wings that can swing forward or back. There's a new hand with a hole for an energy blast, rather than a blaster - that's fun. The helmet is standard Sweeps fare, with a chest that does a good job of more or less matching how you remember the character from the movie and TV episodes. I like the rounded shoulders, and the tiny Decepticon symbol looks great. It's also kind of a technical marvel to print something so small.

Articulation is consistent with the other figures in the line, with big boots that help keep him upright in a number of poses. I like this guy a lot, and the energy blast looks like something they could repurpose for other brands down the road. I'm a little surprised they didn't just give him a blaster, but this generally off-model take on the character is a lot more interesting. We've got tons of toys that look "right" already, but there aren't a lot of new interpretations. I wouldn't mind seeing this face on the Hasbro body just so we can get another "trooper" out of the mold.

I wasn't initially pleased with the departure from the traditional design, but at least it's interesting. The triple blast bolt and the unique face have a lot of personality, and I like the sculpted detail inside the wings. For the asking price, I can't not recommend you pick up a case. Maybe someday they'll stop making these and the figures will get more expensive on the secondary market - I'd say it's an interesting one. The chase figures are fine, but this guy has big wings and a huge collar that really stand out. I look forward to having him hang out with Galvatron.
