While it took me a long time to remember the name, I realize now that this Pilot LEGO Minifigure reminds me of Commander McBragg, from the old cartoon segments. "Good Heavens! What did you do?" (You know the guy.) The LEGO.com bio for the character seems to be on track to match him, as this is an older guy with big white eyebrows and a moustache to match. I approve.
Dressed in a bomber jacket and olde tyme helmet, this is a pretty decent looking figure. He also seems like he could be the 2011 version of the character in the old 1990s LEGO Adventurer line, which was itself clearly a dry run for an Indiana Jones-esque series. (It was also more successful than Indy, but that's another article.) This guy has a backpack, articulated goggles, and... well, that's it mostly. The main reason to get excited for him is his head, as "old guy" doesn't usually make the rounds on collectible figures for children.
The figure can be had on eBay or at collectible stores near you, although if you have some of those older Adventurer sets, you might be all set for this kind of figure. Unless you're looking to collect them all, or perhaps to expand your LEGO Comic-Con diorama with some cosplayers, I wouldn't deem him essential. Neat, certainly, but not essential.
Oddly, if they covered him with unnecessary gears, a dumb top hat, and maybe some unnecessary bronze, I bet it would have been an enormous hit as some sort of Steampunk Pilot thing.
