Given that LEGO has generally steered clear of organized crime outside Indiana Jones, the Gangster was a nice surprise. The suit, the accessories, and the detail all make it one of those figures that, if you're building a LEGO town, you're going to want. (And I've been picking up bits and pieces for the LEGO town I'll start when my mid-life crisis kicks in during the next 10-15 years.)
Accessories make the man, and this figure has the go-to gangster accessory of a fine Stradivarius, or at least the case. As always it sports a gun inside it, which you're going to need for shooting LEGO clowns. The clowns have to die, you know. He also has a swell fedora and a display base, which is about what you'd want.
Rounding out the figure is his deco, which is perfect. An untrustworthy smile, busy eyebrows, and a nicely-striped suit bring him to life, but he only has printing on the front of the figure. He's a little wrinkly too, and has a nifty moustache too. He's evil, but enthusiastic, and a little enthusiasm goes a long way. Plus how many LEGO figures do you own with double-breasted suits? I'm going to guess not many, so if you have the chance pick up this one to walk around your LEGO town. Or just steal his head for an evil restauranteur and the suit for, I don't know, a funeral? He's a nice release for the price.
