If you watched the original Twin Peaks, you may be amazed by how expressive peoples' faces were, and how mundane their general appearance was. Few characters had an aura about them that you could get without ever seeing their face - one of these was The Log Lady. She acted as a medium of sorts to her log, a recognizable icon unto itself. She also had a distinctive haircut, red glasses, and a distinct posture that would probably lend herself to being spotted quickly in a situation where someone was trying to impersonate her. Unfortunately, you also lose her very expressive face when you take The Log Lady and render her as an adorable, stylized vinyl figure.

This 3 3/4-inch-ish scale figure has a jointed head that does a good job of bringing the late Catherine E. Coulson to plastic life - she can stand well, but she can also make use of a disc display stand with two surprisingly large foot pegs. The head swivels freely, and her sculpted glasses include crystal clear lenses. This is a good thing.

The Log Lady's real name was Margaret Lanterman, and those with an eye for such trivia will delight in seeing that Funko captured her rings, her clothing's rich texture and color, and of course, the log. It's a log. Multiple colors of brown were used to bring it to life, and you can see it shed its bark in places. It's easier to see in the packaging art, but you'll easily see how the textures and color change on the plastic chunk of wood. Other notable details include Mrs. Lanterman's earrings, hints of lines under her eyes, and sharply designed shoes.

For a show with so many rich characters, it's tough to find characters from Twin Peaks that seem to benefit from Pop! Vinyl as a format - the strange glances and wary expressions would be wonderfully shown in a bobble head or bust, but these things aren't exactly in vogue this week. Taking the pop culture sensation of 1990 and deploying it in boxes based on the hottest toy property of the season seems like a good idea, and hopefully people will run out and buy The Log Lady and the rest of these. I'm pretty happy with how she turned out, because as things to put on your desk go it's a bizarrely subtle figure that doesn't have as much to say about you as a Batman or Darth Vader. But to fans? They'll see her on your desk and know. They'll know you're good people, and that your log has something to say about that.
