David Rose . If you told me a few years ago I'd be buying a Pop! of the adult kid on the show my dad watched who was the son of not-Igor in the Monster Horror Chiller Theater SCTV sketches, I would be surprised. that's showbiz.

Schitt's Creek David Rose is your riches-to-rags-to-riches-ish star of a story about family and polite obliviousness, with people who didn't have to trade out their clothes for rags. David's wild collection of sweaters, rings, and other accoutrements make him stand out just as much as a superhero in Gotham City. The dude's got a look - distinctive hair, striking eyebrows, and a costume that's right up there with the outfits of Dolly Parton or Lemmy. While he lacks the Kurt Cobain white sunglasses in this form, you do get the long-sleeves, the rings, and of course the Chucks. Or at least, their non-trademarked figure equivalent.
We watched the show - the entire show - during the pandemic earlier this year, all six seasons, catching up just after the finale aired. It won all the 2020 Emmys, and it's probably charming enough to warrant the praise. It's a great monument to proving you can still tell a great story within the confines of Canadian TV budgeting, if you're incredibly talented and also happen to have three legends in your cast. David Rose is played by co-creator/writer/impressario Dan Levy, who probably has an insanely bright future ahead of him. I hope he gets a chance to do the "Bruno" role in a Dr. Tongue sketch too.
To my knowledge there's precious little licensed merch for the show, particularly figural, but this sort of thing is the perfect fit for Funko. It's simple, without too much sculpted detail and only a jointed neck for this 4-inch plastic figure. It comes in a nice box, and the #975 on the front of the box reminds me of just how long these things have been going - and that's just their TV line. It's remarkable that a toy line can support a solid cult classic/mainstream sitcom/Canadian curio particularly since I assume there won't be a Marvel Legends equivalent for this character any time soon. (But we still hold out hope for Pope Moira.) I've been trimming down my personal Pop! Vinyl purchases a bunch, but I couldn't say no to this one.
