New York's American International Toy Fair February 23, 2011
Amazing licenses I can't discuss! Never a company to let you down with new licenses, Diamond Select Toys' booth had lots of amazing new licenses behind their booth that, uh, I can't actually talk about. There was a big Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Minimates sign outside the booth but it was pretty clear that pictures were not meant to be taken, hence, no pix. The company also got a number of great classic TV licenses, so fans of retro television are in for a real treat as soon as they decide to start talking about those things.
Some great collector-grade Thor and Iron Man movie products were shown, while X-Men First Class seems like there might be some X-Men-themed Minimates and that's about it. The Real Ghostbusters are getting quite a line extension as Minimates this year, with Janeane, Slimer, and a gaggle of monsters to delight longtime fans of the series-- they picked some of the more memorable characters.
It's a little light this year, but the good stuff was verboten to share with you. More at Comic-Con in San Diego!
