New York's American International Toy Fair February 18, 2011
Mezco never lets you down. They may not crank out quite as much stuff, but they have some top-notch licenses. No new Hellboy was shown, but a South Park "Greatest Hits" line was on display alongside DC Universe Mez-Itz, a giant ThunderCats Lion-O, some great horror vinyl and mini-figures were on display, and some girlie things were too. I really dug seeing Batman Beyond Mez-Itz with Blight in the 2-inch scale figure packs. More LittleBigPlanet figures, including an all-white figure for you to customize, should also prove pretty popular. Scott Pilgrim figures based on the comic should also do pretty well with the series' core audience.
Without a doubt, the centerpiece of the show was the giant Lion-O which stands about 14-inches tall. I asked about future installments of the line and nothing is set in stone, but I did drop a name and the staff at the booth seemed pretty excited about the idea for an upcoming release. So... we'll see.
More Living Dead Dolls were up, and there was some buzz of a retro set based on some of the earlier collectibles. Oooh, ahhh! More plush were on display too, including zombie kids, a dead cat, and other things I am not hip enough to understand.
