New York's American International Toy Fair February 20, 2011
Thank the toy gods for game tie-ins! After a brief hiatus, LEGO brought back LEGO Harry Potter roughly around the time of the video game and the new movie. While sets are doing pretty well, it seems that the company wasn't huge on the brand (I picked up numerous sets over the past decade for up to 75% off) and I would wager that this may be the final year for the line.
Only a small smattering of new sets were shown, including an updated Knight Bus, a large Battle for Hogwarts, and a figure-packed The Forbidden Forest which I think should be the most exciting of the bunch. The latter includes Voldemort, Harry, Hagrid, and Bellatrix in what appears to be a $13-or-so price point. For the asking price, you really ought to get this one if you're a fan of LEGO or Harry Potter in any of their various incarnations. Trust me, figure sets like this are worth picking up.
While it's possible we'll see many more sets this year to tie in to the final film, I wouldn't be too hopeful that the line will reach beyond 2012. At least, that's my guess based on how Batman has done as of late.
