New York's American International Toy Fair February 19, 2011
Giant ships and zombies! The now Arizona-based McFarlane Toys has made a reputation of being the best fan-focused figure company in the 1990s, and over time moved more toward the mainstream with its super-popular sports lines and even Halo, which it continues this year. Numerous new figures were shown, as well as a a proposed (but currently not slated for production) large-scale vehicle for your action figures. In person, it's big and expensive, I'd say if it ever makes it out you'd be quite lucky to get one.
Aside from sports, the next big thing is The Walking Dead based both on the comic book as well as the television show. Comic figures were shown (and pre-orders went up the other week) so this could be a pretty strong line. Numerous vendors made mention of this being the "year of the zombie," and looking around in Toy Fair it seems that this is a fairly accurate take on 2011.
