New York's American International Toy Fair February 26, 2011
Jazwares grows up! Since listening to the great Joe Amaro (formerly a famous customizer from ToyFare magazine), the Jazwares line has seemingly matured greatly. Their Sonic the Hedgehog line is packed with detail and articulation, and this year a special 10-inch 20th Anniversary figure is on deck to delight the fans of the original 16-bit Sega Genesis title. There are also tons of other figures and toys, but that one stood out quite nicely.
No new Robot Chicken items were on display, but there were some licensed Strawberry Shortcake and Beyblade electronics and electronic toys.
Passers-by could see (but not photograph) a line of Star Wars Electronics and an extensive line of (frankly) gorgeous new Mortal Kombat 6- and 4-inch figures as well as Street Fighter figures based on Street Fighter II and Street Fighter IV-- the IV figures were indeed bulkier, and apparently they will have extensive articulation. The sculpts on display would knock your socks off, and it's a shame we can't show them to you just yet.
