New York's American International Toy Fair February 22, 2011
Great for driving 55! It's widely believed that the new Cars movie from Pixar exists solely for its vast merchandising opportunities, as kids eat up the metal cars like candy. Not one to be left out, LEGO will be adding to its own ongoing line based on the series with big, chunky toy cars that seem well-designed for little kids. (Like the movie, there's not a lot here for older fans. [Sorry, I hated Cars.])
Many of the new sets were unavailable in the booth, or had incomplete early packaging for one reason or another. Anyway, here's what was there!
Way at the bottom of the gallery is a giant, probably close to "life-sized" Lightning McQueen which was upstairs at the convention center outside the main showrooms. As you can see, the level of detail is quite impressive and (obviously) will not be sold to consumers.
