Straight from Egypt! ...by way of Denmark. The LEGO Pharaoh's Quest line builds on the existing Adventurers theme from the late 1990s, adding more creatures and fantasy elements. Back in the old line, there weren't active mummies walking around menacing explorers as much, but here there's one in nearly every set. The fantastical Golden Staff Guardians has a guy on a motorcycle being chased down by two mummies, which, while ridiculous, is also pretty neat if you're looking to add more monsters to your collection.
While some of these sets are in stores now, the rest are coming later this year. The neat thing is how some of the items have added articulation, like a giant Cobra complete with moving body or the articulated legs on the "statue" of a Sphinx-like jackal. And if you don't like the theme, at least you've got a source of abundant tan bricks.
