World Premiere! By popular demand, this is the very first look at the Four Horsemen's new Power Lords action figure line. Sculpted 2-ups were on display. We are told the final figures will be 3 3/4-inch, Glyos-compatible action figures. One may assume they will debut this year. One hopes so!
What are Power Lords? In the 1980s, Revell made some really cool 6-inch action figures which were inspired by the works of one Wayne Barlowe, a sci-fi artist know for Barlowe's Book of Extraterrestrials and conceptual designs on numerous movies including Hellboy. This figure line included several original designs with alien beasts from far-off worlds and a frog lizard things with its organs on the outside of the body. And now, the Four Horsemen have acquired the property to crank out for your amusement. Five new figures were shown in New York at the Toypocalypse 3: ExtraTOYrrestrial event... as were other things, but this is going up first.

Characters include Adam Power, Power Soldier, Ggrapptikk, Ggripptogg, and Power Lord, although I am not certain if these are five figures, or a mix of figures and alternate modes, or what. There's a lot of shared tooling between the Adams Power plus the two Grip aliens.
Up close they look absolutely stunning. The 2-ups are really beautiful, and it looks like I'm seeing a mix of Hasbro's Star Wars-style joints here. This really does look like the Horsemen are attempting to add play value to that as each Adam Power-derived figure seems to have about 14 points of articulation. Combined with the Glyos system, this could be phase one of some of the best action figures we'll ever see. Creator Wayne Barlowe was on hand, as were the Four Horsemen, representatives of the Cake Boss (Cake Boss!), and a ton of fans. A vintage collection was also on display, and more about these items and the art show will be added to the galleries to the right if they are not yet up already.
