Man of Steel! Every few years Superman gets some juice, and over the last year he's had quite a bit between the New 52 collectibles and upcoming movie. For the world's first big-ticket superhero, he's struggled to find an audience outside of print with the last few movies. Still, with a megaconglomerate behind the big red S it's a safe bet we'll be seeing more attempts to revive the character regularly until it finally clicks. Maybe this will be the year!

High-end collectibles are the name of the game with a Dark Knight Returns Superman Statue as well as large Man of Steel Movie Collectibles (above). I prefer the smaller resin items myself, the large movie figures, even in person, didn't look as good as the smaller and more colorful comic-based items.

I expect the New 52 stuff will do fine, and the articulated fabric capes of the movie items are pretty neat - we've seen similar garments in Hasbro's Star Wars line as well as in Mattel's own Batman toys. We have not, however, seen widespread acceptance for Superman as much other than as a piece of a larger line, so it will be incredibly exciting to see of the movie clicks and people jump at the chance to buy new high-end movie collectibles. Some of the last film's busts and statues go for under ten bucks... so I would anticipate a much smaller line-up and I would not be surprised if the line stayed small.
