New York's American International Toy Fair February 12, 2013
More Testing Ensues! You may not know Crowded Coop but you probably have bought things from their employees. Their pop culture guy used to work with me when he was at another company and the dude is fantastic. I'll name-drop when I write my toy industry memoirs that nobody will read. I'll probably call it "Who Are You To Accuse Me?" But I digress. Crowded Coop is owned by a couple of very nice people and they're 20 minutes down the road from Valve, which is why they're making some super-cool stuff I can't talk about and plenty of stuff that I can discuss like Messenger Bags and Sizzling Plush Bacon.

In the above pictures, you can pick out all kinds of cool stuff like a Weighted Companion Cube Inflatable Ottoman, Plush Sticky Bomb, and Portal Key Covers.
The company let me know they had a wonderful relationship with Valve which may include other forms of collectibles in addition to their current lifestyle products like patches, tin signs, iPhone cases, lunch boxes, and even plush. The kicker about the plush is that there's a downloadable product key on the Archimedes plush to redeem the character inside Team Fortress 2. I like it.

Also on tap were a number of home-grown items plus plush based on the works of one Justin Killgrove who was actually hanging out in the booth. Being semi-ignorant, I was aware of his work and style but not of his name. Oops. If you want to suffer extreme social awkwardness, attend some trade shows. His Imps and Monsters are transitioning into plush alongside some incredibly odd and creative pop-culture mash-ups including a photographer nerd yeti, a steampunk owl with a mustache, and a tattooed Abraham Lincoln in its underpants. They're called Whim-Whams Trend Mash-Ups which are a bizarre and eerily accurate knock on today's internet memes.
