A riff on an old name, the Cone Shaker recalls the popular Bone Shaker skull-infused car while being its own thing. The very bright orange cone really looks amazing in person, with HW TRAFFIC on the sides. It's a plastic orange cone as a car, with a hole on the bottom so you can stack them if you have multiples. Clever.

The metal base has orange wheels, a green chassis, and an orange cone top with a clear windshield exposing some metal. You can see the engine, there are little traffic signs on the back, but thee base itself is pretty plain on the bottom.

With its unusual shape, I have to wonder if we're going to get repaints for years to come. It's a great design that could be done in many colors, but the pointy top could also result in some unforeseen safety issue. It is charming, it rolls well, and you can't miss it. In my camera, the orange looks bright - in person it's almost unreal. It stands out against the other cars in the stores, mostly because I've never seen anything else quite like it. It could benefit from a little more paint on the engine, but that's not how you get these things out for $1.25.

I'm increasingly a sucker for non-car form factors when I see a new Matchbox or Hot Wheels car. Wacky paint or silly formats are very eye-catching, and while I'm sure it isn't a fast design it is an interesting one. We've seen various foods turned into cars, animals, and other things - how long until we get a Roomba or other vacuum cleaner? I'm looking forward to finding out what's next, and this is a fun quirky little toy for my desk.
