I stumbled on Metroid Phazon Suit Samus in January, while trying (and failing0 to find the gold trophy edition exclusive. If the figure looks vaguely familiar, it should - Jakks has been doing good business repainting some of these figures multiple times, and Samus may be one of the most frequent candidates for redecoration. I've seen a grand total of five flavors cranked out so far, with no mold changes. It does a pretty good job bringing home the deco, plus or minus accuracy. I'm not a fan of the Prime series - I lack the ability to work my way through the third dimensions - so I can only compare it to reference photos. It doesn't quite match.

The figure stands about 4 3/5-inches tall, and gives you a decidedly different take on her classic armor. There are no sculpt changes, and it looks like the various colors don't quite match. The silver gun hand seemed to have a hint of blue. The orange bits seem to be redder in the game. The silver seems to be darker in the game. So what you have here is a wacky redeco and/or proof Nintendo's approvals aren't as strict as people would have me believe.

If you're not hung up on color accuracy, this is a nice figure. The black parts are stupendously glossy and even - it looks exquisite. The silver bits are evenly coated and sharp. The orange bits are orange, but could be a little thicker. It's good, but getting a solid coat of orange above black has proven to be difficult for most mass market toy manufacturers to pull off.

The lone accessory, again, is the sphere mode. It's black with silver and orange. The deco is gorgeous, as it's super duper shiny and looks dynamite. But I don't need it, neither do you, and it'll just get in the way of your display shelf. I wish it could've been a small alien enemy, but here we are.

I like Metroid stuff so much I'll buy pretty much anything fairly priced that isn't hideous. You can sell me an off-color redeco based on a game I'll never play. I like it. They could do Samus in every color of the rainbow, I'd be down. Just not all at once. With just under 20 points of articulation, it's a very good figure for ten bucks. I'd love to see a different accessory, or a different sculpt from another game, but that's not what this is. It's nifty, it's different, and it stands up without a fight. Get one, or don't, but go ahead and get one.
