Avengers Minimates and Action Figures April 25, 2012
New Avengers, Universal Monsters, and Expendables! The fine folks at Diamond Select Toys sent us more new pictures, and here they are! First up, a contest to win a prototype of Thor. Here's what they sent:
"Marvel's The Avengers movie is on the way, and so are the Avengers movie action figures from Diamond Select Toys! DST's new, movie-based Marvel Select figures are currently en route from the factory, but they couldn't wait to do an Avengers giveaway, so they thought they'd give away some awesome comic-based Avengers instead! One randomly selected fan will get Marvel Select figures of Iron Man, Spider-Woman and the four Disney Store-exclusive Avengers: Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and the Black Widow! Plus, the lucky fan will get a solid blue prototype version of Thor, straight from the factory floor!
All you have to do is share DST's Facebook photo of the toy Avengers team on your Facebook wall, and we'll choose the winner at random on Wednesday, May 2, just as you're getting in line to see the Avengers on the big screen! Check DST's Facebook page on Wednesday to see who won! Contest is open to U.S. residents only."
For Universal Monsters, check out the Metaluna Mutant, Phantom of the Opera, and the Toys R Us exclusive Invisible Man. The Mutant and Phantom will be tweaked specialty release, the Phantom's organ and the Mutant's Interocitor will not be included in the Toys R Us versions. These are all due in around October.
Finally, there's The Expendables in Minimates form! Toys R Us will get Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Trent Mauser (Arnold Schwarzenegger), James Munroe (Eric Roberts), and Paine (Steve Austin) in their set, while the comic and direct market will receive - Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) and Tool (Mickey Rourke) and tons of weapons. Diamond tells us more Expandables 2 sets will be released along with the sequel in August. Good times!
