Review: Fisher-Price Imaginext Toy Story 4 Bunny & Buzz Lightyear
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Come to Quark's, Quark's is fun, come right now, don't walk - run! Via DazbtCustomToys on Etsy: Quark's Bar Super LARGE DELUX BAR Accessories Tongo Table Dabo Table Bottles Glasses 3 Tables 8 Chairs 2 Entrance's 2 Doors 5 Replicators. It is a wallet-bruising $775, but it's also huge. The 31-inch x 26-inch set is designed for your Playmates-scale figures, and it looks to be nicely painted and it even has the dang dart board. There's not a whole not new coming for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but the old ones are pretty cheap and there's not much chance you're going to get an official playset given it's been 30 years.
Via Investors.com: Funko Stock Dives 25% As Earnings Funk Continues. While I know some of you are rubbing your hands together, some of the problems come not from a fad ending but from general greed or goof-ups in demand expectations. If a market for a figure is 20,000 and you make 40,000, you're going to have inventory problems - even if the items still have a massive, rabid audience, you can't overfeed the marketplace. Someone has to be left out in the collectible world or the "collectible" part goes away. (I'd say just ignore the collectors and make toys, but I'm old.)
It's a big dip but Funko is still a giant player in the plastic figure space in terms of variety. Nobody has more licenses and nobody's pumping out more characters. My unrequested advice would be "cut your runs," but Funko gonna Funko. There's still demand, but the shareholder desire for growth isn't something you can really control - the market isn't going to buy more because you make more. While a lot of older figure collectors roll their eyes, it's still a big market with a lot of untapped potential with lots of licenses. Yhe catch is to remember that while there's a market for Newsradio and Taxi and The Love Boat or whatever, it's not forever and it's not growing.
Star Wars Review: Vel Sartha (The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Vel Sartha (The Vintage Collection). It's a decent figure, but light on paint. The head is good, the articulation is fine - not great, but fine - so she isn't exactly impressive at the new suggested retail pricing. Read the whole review.

Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

Classic! This Hasbro Marvel Legends 375 Wolverine Action Figure has nifty claws and is one of very few characters to not have his body reused for multiple other characters. I like it. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via Kickstarter: Hieronymus Bosch Tabletop MIniatures.. Surreal resin minis! I would've posted sooner, but I just found out and this is about to end - but it's still worth a look, these are really cool.
Via the Glyos News Dump: Spy Monkey Creations: March 4 2023 Menu. At press time, 2 of the 3 figures can still be bought - a fairly robust and cheap unpainted pink figure with alternate heads blew through its inventory within a couple of hours.
Classic Review: Diamond Select Battle Beasts Minimates Gruntos the Walrus & Tate Reynolds from 2013
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted 10 years ago today! The Diamond Select Battle Beasts Minimates Gruntos the Walrus & Tate Reynolds was something I was really excited for - new Battle Beasts! The trademark got snagged by Diamond, so they got to make a new line, with a comic and everything. And in the end, it was fine - the early promo figures were arguably better than the main line, but I liked what they tried to do here. It just wasn't the same - and sadly, the line seems to be sitting in limbo until whatever trademarks potentially expire and go to someone else. Read on, it's a good one - and come back tomorrow for an all-new review!
We're taking donations for server costs! Really. One of the rewards is Q&A a few days early - you can read next Monday's installment as soon as it's ready, which can be as early as 1:00 AM my time on Monday!
If you've got a dollar a month to share, please Visit the Galactic Hunter Patreon and help cover our server costs. I'll still put in hours of work, writing, photography, and research - I just need some help making sure that the site costs me only time, and hopefully not money. Thanks for your support!
Review: Hasbro Transformers War for Cybertron Siege Battle Masters Caliburst
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Old! The Hasbro Transformers War for Cybertron Siege Battle Masters Caliburst may be at a Five Below or some other weird store with old stock, but I've been sitting on it to review for a while - so why not now? It's $6 for an accessory, which seemed expensive in 2019 and doesn't seem any better now. But if you want a gun buddy for Slugslinger or another figure, it gets the job done. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Glyos News Dump: Cappy Space Descends Into Knights of the Slice with New Guardian Diver. This is the first known figure for the Thursday, March 9 9:00 PM EST drop we know about. Will there be more? Dunno. The Diver mold was previously sold in a few cool colors over at the Toy Pizza shop, and this one is also loaded with parts if you, like me, still need to pick up the mold. Check it out!
Via Twitter: Buck wild you can just do this to a game boy. The modder took out a chip from a Super Game Boy, the Super NES adapter, and put it in his Game Boy - and now it won't make you sit through the "Nintendo" logo descent. It's silly, but it's neat to see!
Via a bunch of places: NESFab. I don't program games so I have to say that they claim it's a new programming language that's supposedly faster/easier than 6502 Assembly code. Which I also can't use. So if you're looking to make games - and I already emailed a couple of people I am looking at as I write this - it might be worth a look so you can make and sell me a game.
Via Hasbro's Steve Evans on Instagram: I felt it important to give all the Marvel Legends Retro 375 fans an open & honest update on the line. In short, it's over... for now? Sometimes "it's resting" means a very long time - Zoids went from "active" to "resting" to "I have never heard of that brand" within a short period of time in the early 2000s, and if there are no convention exclusives or store repaints or other special items... I mean I'm not getting my hopes up. The final wave is Doctor Doom, Power Man, and Spider-Woman (with new package variants of Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine on this official/officialish checklist.) That's the bad news. The good news is that you can buy almost the entire line cheaply and easily between stores near you and the secondary market, so if you want to catch up, you can probably get the whole line at or under suggested retail price. (This is also probably why the line is "resting.")
I'll continue to run a review of the figures I have in the line every Monday until we run out, which I assume will probably be around August or September. It was fun while it lasted, and it's notable that there were more retro Marvel figures (and vehicle!) than there were Star Wars since its The Retro Collection relaunch in 2019.
While this may sound ridiculous, I'm both sad that it's ending and happy it got to end before it got out of hand. Right now, any fan can collect the entire line pretty cheaply - I bought a bunch of my figures as part of a collection on eBay (below SRP!) and picked up the rest from online shops and local stores. The line isn't preposterously big and you can actually afford to pick up most of these without much of a hassle. Considering they got to Spider-Man (and his Amazing Friends), and the Fantastic Four, and a chunk of the X-Men, I'd say it was a nice little success.
Review: Super7 Vincent Price Master of Mayhem ReAction Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
New, but old! I got this Super7 Vincent Price Master of Mayhem ReAction Figure because how could I not? The head sculpt is a little smoothed-over, but it's unmistakably him, and he's on a cardback with a gorgeous Ed Repka painting of the actor. The figure's body itself, though, isn't that great. The proportions are right, but the limbs seem like they were just mirrored, the pose isn't that interesting, and aspects of the suit - specifically the coat pockets and the fly on the pants - look layered-on and not integrated well. Still, it's the best Vincent Price we have in this scale. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Glyos News Dump: Cappy Space Won't Quit, Outwatcher on Thursday. It's a good mix! It's probably worth setting an alarm for 9:00 PM EST to grab this and some other really cool figures.
But that's not all, there's more: New Healey Made Assassin March 11 at 2:00 PM EST. Details are unknown, but the previous Assassins were all pretty good and some were painted to look like Bossk and Pythona, if those names mean much to you.
Star Wars Review: Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard, The Retro Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard, The Retro Collection). It's not as good as the original - the level of detail is a lot lower, and the eyes on mine are a little weird - but in a shelf, wearing a helmet, near an old Jabba, he still looks cool. Why the details are so soft, I don't know - but some slight variations in color will make it even more clear that this isn't the figure you've owned since 1983. Read the whole review.
Review: ToyFinity Manglors Manglord - Standard Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Green! This jolly ToyFinity Manglors Manglord - Standard Action Figure makes good on the lies we were told by Ideal 40 years ago. Because he's Glyos, you can actually swap parts with your other figures without permanently damaging the figure. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Glyos News Dump: Cappy Space Drop Menu - March 9, 2023. It's a really impressive mix with the Diver, Crayboth, and Goliath, plus all the Leydens you need to make a Xenomorph.
If you've never bought any Glyos, this is a good place to start. Just grab a bunch and put something together.
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
The high point! This Hasbro Marvel Legends 375 Ghost Rider with Motorcycle Action Figure has a ridable vehicle and fantastic packaging. I haven't seen him in stores yet, and with the news that the line is being buried, this is one of only four all-new figures for 2023. I'd recommend getting it just because it's nifty. The molded plastic skull with the molded plastic flames are better than anything Kenner would have done back in the day, but still, it's pretty awesome. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via tons of my pals, but let's link to this round-up at Retro RGP: Reports of Self Bricked Wii U Consoles. In short: Wii U consoles that haven't been played in a while are dying, unplugged, on the vine.
Even Nintendo advised that the controller should be used every 6 months to ensure it keeps working, but the console is out of service and these self-bricked consoles have no known fixes at this time - but hardware hackers will almost always find a way to bring old hardware back to life, so don't throw yours out if it broke. But absolutely do go hook it up right now - even if you're working, really, how important could it be? Go play, try an Amiibo real quick, and see if you can boot it up. Don't let it die!
Via MrStevie18 on Instagram: ANNOUNCED TODAY! Our latest wave of 4" EPIC HERO SERIES Figs.. These are going to Walmart first, but are notable in that they're nicely-articulated 4-inch figures with dinosaur-themed armor and robot buddies. Black Panther has a tiger buddy! Tony Stark as a Stegosaurus pal. Captain America has a Pterosaur pfriend of some sort, and most of these guys can become armor. The Marvel figures themselves aren't half bad either - I'm pretty excited to see these.
Now Available: Healey Made Reveals Assassin (Bulloch)
Via the Glyos News Dump: Healey Made Bulloch Assassin and Raider Returns. The Raider (Assassin) was also restocked, and they match! They also match the Trooper (Bulloch) from a few months ago, so with any luck, this is the last of the Bulloch colorways for a while.
Classic Review: Deep Fried Figures Mechawhales Action Figure from 2013
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted 10 years ago today! The Deep Fried Figures Mechawhales Action Figure was superbly weird indie figure goodness. I was expecting repaints or new characters, but 10 years later and this is the only one. I'd love to see more, but at least I have this one! New, and fun! The Hasbro Transformers Legacy Evolution Deluxe Scraphook Action Figure is a new character with a familiar-yet-different gimmick. The figure transforms, and can be taken apart to become armor for another toy - but you don't have to dismember him to transform him. I like this one a lot, there are lots of sculpted damage bits without damage paint, but hey, you customizers can have fun with that. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via 7collection: 7-Eleven x PAC-MAN Collection. My pal Shaun hipped me to this weird collection of hats, stickers, shirts, bags, socks... it's odd, but given that arcade games used to be almost everywhere, especially convenience and grocery stores, it sort of makes sense.
But wait, there's more!
Via Chicago Gaming Company: Pulp Fiction Pinball Table. Three flavors are being made, but what's particularly interesting is that it's a retro game. It's designed to look like the games of the 1980s, before widespread big red LED dot displays, and way before LCD monitors got crammed in there.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Mara Jade (The Black Series). It's a good figure despite being parts from Aphra/Jaina with a new head and new paint - it's just not as "accurate" as it could be. Then again, for a comic/novel character, there's more than a little wiggle-room and at a glance, she's kind of fantastic. Read the whole review.
What may interest most of you are the Super7 ReAction Figures for Tron, which includes a vehicle - they've done very few vehicles, so this is pretty exciting news for retro figure fanatics. As far as I know, these figures are exclusive to the park and will not be sold elsewhere.
There are also a slate of shirts, jackets, and a quasi-customizable personalized figure, and a backpack with speaker, and some other stuff. There's not a lot of stuff for Tron out there, so make a note when you make your next vacation (or just pay the Disney mules on eBay.)
Kickstarter: Retro Nancy Drew from Wandering Planet Toys
Via Wandering Planet Toys: Nancy Drew Retro Style Action Figures. I don't know much about this, but anything that looks like a modern Adventure People figure is interesting from where I sit. More soon? Let's hope.
Via TFW2005 and goodness knows where: 2023 Walmart Exclusive Products First Look Ð G2 Toxitron, Grimlock, Jazz, More! While not officially announced, these figures are said to be Walmart exclusives. Having said that, sometimes these things don't quite get distributed fully and in at least one case, seems to have disappeared completely. And yes I'll buy them all.
Jazz and Grimlock are based on unreleased Generation 2 concepts. Toxitron is based on an unreleased Transformers Universe deco which later became a BotCon exclusive for Animated as well as an Official Transformers Collector Club combiner torso. Cloudcover, a conehead seeker redeco, is based on an unreleased jet concept.
If that weren't enough, Walmart Legacy Evolution G2 Deluxe Listings went on to post SKUs for G2 Mirage (green and pink concept), G2 Sideswipe, G2 Dead End, and G2 Shadowstrip PR - which is probably the Legacy Dragstrip we got last year in a new box.
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Via TNI/Valaverse: Valaverse - Valafair Day 3: Action Force Reveals. This is a neat one, and will noe a 2023 JoeFest exclusive. Stan Solo, the Star Wars retro enthusiast who makes not-licensed old-style figures, is translating the Valaverse 1:12 Desert Rat character into a retro 3 3/4-inch Palitoy-style figure. Which, if made available outside the convention, could be pretty exciting stuff - and since a packaged version is coming, I'm wondering what branding will appear on the cards.
Via Deadline: eOne: Fremantle, Lionsgate & Legendary In Pursuit Of Hasbro Company As Sale Process Enters Final Stage. Hasbro bought Entertainment One to produce its many toy and game properties in the world of movies, TV, and other - but that didn't happen. They also owned record labels, PJ Masks, and numerous other properties - some of which will be kept, some of which will be sold, and I think a few were previously spun-off.
Via Deadline: 'Willow' Canceled After One Season On Disney+. Despite a pretty great cast, a pretty low budget, and a lot of empty space, the show was a weird little fantasy. It's worth watching, but given that it ended with a pretty clear message that it was the first of three volumes, it's probably not going anywhere other than, if you're lucky, comic books.
And if you like Batman, there are some 4-inch scale figures from The Flash movie coming soon. If it's still 1989 in your Batcave, this might interest you.

Old-ish! I've been fussing with my Onell Design Glyos Rift Killer Grayvec Action Figure for years, but I lost the packaged photo, so it took me a while to do the review - so now you get no plastic baggie shot. It's a 3 3/4-inch figure and it's really neat - there's a little bit of color and a little bit of paint, but he fits in nice with Glyos and various retro action figures. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

Look what I found: So I saw this at Target today. $14.99.. Target had this The Adventures of Indiana Jones German Mechanic figure out for $14.99, along with Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. The back of the German Mechanic also showed Marion, Toht, Indy, and Belloq - none of which were on-shelf.
Via Retro RGB and elsewhere: A Fix For Bricked Wii UÕs???. Because it's 2023 it's a video, but the fix seems to be pretty cheap and easy for someone with minimal skills. And that's good.
The video shows use of a Raspberry Pi Pico to run some code and get around a software error. It looks like a potentially simple fix.
Classic Review: Hasbro Jurassic Park Pachyrhinosaurus Clash Action Figure Set from 2013
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted 10 years ago today! The Hasbro Jurassic Park Pachyrhinosaurus Clash Action Figure Set was part of a weird, ongoing confusing set of leaks that kicked off with "Jurassic Joe." There were a lot of unreleased sculpts from the pre-Jurassic World era and this one wound up as a neat, colorful, and admittedly somewhat expensive (for the time) exclusive. Read on, it's a good one - and come back tomorrow for an all-new review!

Old! The Hasbro Transformers Generations Legacy Wreck 'N Rule Collection Diaclone Universe Twin Twist may be at a Five Below or some other weird store with old stock, but I've been sitting on it to review for a while - so why not now? It's $6 for an accessory, which seemed expensive in 2019 and doesn't seem any better now. But if you want a gun buddy for Slugslinger or another figure, it gets the job done. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via Brava: Brava Fabrics Playmobil Collection. It's expensive - a sweatshirt is $142, a t-shirt is $71. But don't worry - they don't even ship to the USA, so if you're here, you can't even have them in the first place.
For those who don't pay for their own clothes or don't shop in the USA, graphic tees at a store like Target are frequently under $20 - sometimes under $10 - and on the higher end can run $30-$40. Fancier tees at a shop like Uniqlo can be had around $25. And I should note, they have some nice ones like this retro Space Invaders x MOMA shirt.
Granted, I'm a cheapskate. But if you live in a place Brava deems worthy of their attention, now you too can spend entirely too much money on a shirt.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Doctor Aphra (The Black Series). If you missed the last Aphra figure, this one adds a scarf and a coat plus new arms to make a new costume for the Marvel comic character. Read the whole review.
Via Den of Geek: What's Going On With Red Dwarf?. I haven't seen a new episode of the show since I started this web site, but I'm rewatching the old ones and was wondering "gee, I wonder if they are making new ones still?" And the answer is "maybe?"
Apparently Rob Grant and Doug Naylor - the show's creators/runners/etc. - were feuding and whatever it was has been resolved. The low-budget (but charming) comedy series kicked off in 1988, which debuted on the same day as the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "When the Bough Breaks," in which they brazenly show someone polishing their dolphin on camera. Given that Picard is currently making a fuss about its final season, airing right now, it's kind of amazing to see Red Dwarf continue its on/off/on run 35 years after its debut.
Never seen it? It's pretty good, I used to watch it on our PBS station on Saturday nights because it took over the spot which was once held by Blackadder and later Chef!.
But were there ever toys? Yes - there were a few micro figure sets which frequently also had a Starbug ship in there. They're somewhat expensive now. I hope someone out there makes new ones, or new old-style ones, because who doesn't want Lister and Kryten and Cat and Rimmer figures to pal around with their Dapol Daleks and Kenner R2-D2 figures?
Review: Super7 Planet of the Apes Mendez XXVI ReAction Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
New to me! I got this Super7 Planet of the Apes Mendez XXVI ReAction Figure last year and it's great. Kenner would not have painted it this well, but he has a gory face with visible veins and a cool (but way too tight) removable rubber mask. What a great idea! Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Galactic Hunter has posted a Adam's Star Wars Newsletter #13! Retro Indiana Jones toys are hitting shelves early. Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibsom turned in a new Star Wars movie script. Young Jedi Adventures is coming in May and we have new episodes of The Bad Batch and The Mandalorian streaming right now. New Kenner retro reveals, Vintage Collection releases, The Black Series, and some more fun. If you like Svengoolie, you should skim this one. Read it here!
At some point every toy maker wants to make an old-school toy robot... and it would seem Wandering Planet Toys is taking care of that itch right now. I want one. No date yet on when this goes live or what it might cost.
Star Wars Review: The Emperor (The Retro Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Emperor (The Retro Collection). It's very similar to the originals, which, oddly, are pretty cheap on eBay. The 2023 reissue has smoothed out the textures on the robes and the wrinkles on the hands and face are less wrinkly. If you have an open original you probably don't need the reissue, which looks incredibly similar to the genuine article unless you squint. Read the whole review.

Blue! This Hasbro Marvel Legends 375 Iron Man (Stealth Armor) Action Figure is the kind of repaint we used to see at Toy Biz and now you can see it at Kenner - er, Hasbro! It's a shiny figure with nice colors, and also probably no longer at a store near you. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

Star Wars Review: Tech M'or (Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Tech M'or (Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes, The Vintage Collection). It's a part of the white box band multi-pack, and it's great. Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Finally! The Playmobil 71010 Wiltopia Boat Trip to the Manatees Set showed up at my door recently and I love it. It's the kind of thing I wanted as a kid, but Playmobil didn't have whales yet. Seals and sea lions, sure, but this was long before dolphins, whales, sharks, and the like - I never thought they'd do manatees. And now, amazingly, it's here. This feels like a victory lap of a toy, but I'm still curious to see what else they make. I just assume this is about as excited as I'm getting for any more animal toys in my lifetime. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
