Revealed on Kotaku amd elsewhere we see evidence that Nintendo remembers its past. Namely, that you can boost sales of a console by recoloring it and putting it out in stores-- it worked for the entire GameBoy family as well as the Nintendo64. These new DSi XLs are due out in a few weeks... right around the time Nintendo will start talking more about the 3DS. Choose from Green, Blue, or Yellow.

This post at Wizard Universe pretty much says it all-- Warner Bros. is reactivating the barely-used IP in 2011 for a new TV show. It is unknown if the recent "staction figure" license covers this show or merely classic product, but either way, a new cartoon approaches. Hopefully it'll go over better than the 2002 Masters of the Universe.

While not yet confirmed, it is widely assumed that this Rapido toy based on the Universe Silverstreak mold will be an add-on gift item for Botcon 2010. Check him out on ACtoys.net, and bask in all his glory.

Xbox 360 owners, it's time for Snoopy Flying Ace, a $10/800 point dogfight (hah) game. We'll have to look at it.

Both singles and three-packs of Mattel's action figure line-- and yes, the Target ones-- are getting dumped at Tuesday Morning stores. Selection varies widely, and prices seem to be pretty good, but the important thing is you cheap smart people who waited can get some deals.

AST Records released an EP 3-pack this week, which you can find here or on iTunes-- or maybe in stores, we don't know. For $15 you get Paul F. Tompkins' "Sir You Have Fooled Me Twice" plus Greg Proops' "Proops Digs In" and Dan Telfer's "Fossil Record." We have no idea how they are yet, but hey, new stuff.

This press release confirms Bandai got the Master Toy License for Thundercats-- classic and new. So if you want real toys, apparently, this is who will give them to you.

This is damned swell. Check out these Atari playing cards featuring retro graphics-- and even some vector-based arcade cabinets. We are pleased.

IGN has a has a preview of a new Konami/PSN game called Hard Corps which apparently is a quasi-sidequel to Contra: Hard Corps. Arc System Works (BlazBlue, Guilty Gear) is developing and it's due late this year-- and it's basically a 2D Contra from Konami. So why not give it a whirl? We'll let you know if we discover a reason.

The new kings of licensed comic books IDW announced a new Jurassic Park series with an adult Lex and Tim from the first film. What are they doing? Keeping pesky kids out of the old amusement parks, of course. Issue #1 of Jurassic Park: Redemption is going to be around $4 and is due out this month.

It's... someone! The Taobao has an auction of what are said to be new Botcon toys. One is a white repaint of Ravage with a red Decepticon logo, identity unknown. The other is Hound in brown, speculated to be Scorch. We're in love.

It's a new box set! The aptly named Minicon 8-Pack auction on Taobao has pictures of eight repaints of the little guys, mostly from the Cybertron and Classics molds. But wait, there's more!

Xbox 360 owners, if you've got a Gold Live account you can grab a free demo of Transformers: War for Cybertron, but it's multiplayer-only so far. Still, it's worth a look if you were curious about the game-- one of the playable characters is a twist on the WFC Bumblebee design.

Devo's new album Something for Everybody is up for streaming on Colbert Nation of all places. Just go here and look for the box on the left side of the home page, and then be surprised that it is there. The band will appear on The Colbert Report on June 16, and the album itself hits on June 15 (Tuesday).

Over on the Matty Forums, they're asking for images illustrating QC problems with their ongoing and wildly popular DC Universe Collector's Series Action Figures. So if you have problems, go complain and take a photo!

This Disney Gargoyles Goliath 1:8 Scale Statue exists... which to us was a surprise. It's close to $200 and is due out late this year, but how many Gargoyles collectibles have you seen this year? It's also quite large, so odds are it'd look nice if you decided to get one.

The famous S250 has dinosaur and robot modes of this blue guy, but who is it? We still don't know for sure yet-- but we'll have something official in the next two weeks, we're sure. Because, you know, Botcon is around the corner.

You won't have to consult the Sword of Omens to see the first image of Icon Heroes' Lion-O Staction Figure which, to us, looks like a nice figure prototype sculpt. Assuming it will be $20 or so, it's probably good enough to display on your desk assuming BanDai doesn't go nuts and make, you know, actual good high-end action figures. (We assume they will not.) Check this one out!

We're not exactly huge fans of the notion of making toys from the 2002 He-Man cartoon, but we'd be bad writers if we neglected to show you Chief Carnivus. He's a lion dude, but not Lion-O. Not even close. Still, he's a new figure from Eternia and there are very few that qualify as totally new, so here you go. We prefer Optikk, but if you like lion king dudes, here you are.

A preview at The Digital Bits showcases a 25th Anniversary Blu-Ray for The Goonies which includes magazines, board games, and other knick-knacks. It'll be about $50 and in stores this November.

Over at The Magic Box are lots of new magazine scans with new Pokemon creatures which will probably be toys some day soon. Failing that, you'll be able to play the game soon enough.

Hey, we wrote a review! Brian Posehn's Fart and Weiner Jokes hit in the spring and we just now finished our review of it. We liked it-- it's about 50 minutes of comedy and 8 minutes of heavy metal. We won't lie to you, we loved Pac-Man Championship Edition in a fairly unhealthy way. We're keen on hearing more about Pac-Man Championship Edition DX due from Namco Bandai this Fall. New modes are included, plus significantly more than the original's six maps. Oooh, ahh. No pricing or exact date have been revealed.

The new Nintendo 3DS was revealed, and impressions were posted. Not surprisingly, it still looks like a Nintendo DS. Somewhat surprising is that the 3D effects are apparently good for people with eye problems, and the new controller is... new. Your friend and mine Jeremy Parish shares his thoughts at 1up.com.

The headline tells you most of the details-- click here for more news on the revised, Daniel Craig-filled remake of the Nintendo 64 classic. Which, we hear, has not aged well.

Devo's new album Something for Everybody is in stores-- and there is good news and bad news. Multiple versions exist between the various download and retail services, so you might want to check the track listing before you buy. There is a 12-track as-voted-on-by-fans version, a 12-track as-edited-by-DEVO version, and a 16-track version with everything. It is not yet known to us if the 16-track version exists as a disc, or is an online-only offering. We'll let you know as we have more, but be wary if you were planning on buying this like we were. You'll probably want the most complete release.

This figure was designed specifically to interact with the upcoming Voyager-scale Beachcomber. ACToys.net has a lot of shots of a loose Breacher in both modes, and he looks pretty fantastic. Certainly a figure worth its estimated $7 retail price point-- go check it out.

Xbox 360 owners, it's time to pretend Space Ark, wasn't released! That seems to be what everyone else is doing, but we dug up the title for you anyway. The $10/800 point title seems to involve bouncing baby animals in a Noah's Ark kinda thing in space. OK, so maybe the other media outlets knew what they were doing.

...not to be confused with "Otomedius Gorgeous." It's a Konami 2D shooter, but with girl jet things. We're told the gameplay is quite fun, and it's a little dirty-ish too. From the Konami press release:

A ton of news today! Some official shots of several new deluxe toys got out, including Darkwing, Red Alert, and Terradive. Tomahawk resembles Armada Cyclonus in some ways.

Canada will get the 2010 Death Comes To Town miniseries in DVD on August 3, so says TVShowsonDVD.com. No US date was confirmed, but they did mention the show will air on the IFC cable channel.

A very tiny preview image of Sgt. Slaughter's two packaged variants can be seen on ACToys.net, but it's about as big as our thumbnail. We still want one. Or both.

In addition to an Animated pack, a classics-themed Transformers Sons of Cybertron set is coming. The clear figures included are Rodimus from 2006 and the Optimus Prime from the 2-pack.

Coming soon, this swell Bif Bang Pow! Dr. Orpheus Bobble Head is the only toy/collectible/whatever of the character you can buy. The packaging looks a lot like a box of Chucks in some respects, so we dig it. Check it out on the Venture Bros. Blog.

A preview at Kotaku showcases Castlevania: Harmony of Despair which is a 6-player 2D castle crawler and brawler. It'll be about $15 and available this Summer, and it looks like it might be fun. It's a Castlevania, after all.

Over at The Action Figure Insider, find test shots of the Outer Space Men. The line is a revival of a line of bendable figures from a while back, and odds are if you collect 1980s toys you have no idea who or what they are. You may know them as "Colorforms Aliens" compatible with Mattel's Major Matt Mason toys. Anyway, these new ones are based on the Glyos design, are sculpted by the Four Horsemen, and basically look like things you absolutely need to own. (Hell, we're trying to figure out if we can find a way to buy one of the test shots.) Do check it out.

The blind box LEGO figures are hitting! Prices vary from store to store, but it seems you may pay anywhere between $1.99 and $2.99 a whack depending on where you shop. (We saw them at $2.49 a piece at Toys "R" Us.) They're pretty swell.

On the AST forums, Doug Benson confirmed his new album will be called Hypocritical Oaf, and will be released this August. Three years, three albums-- and they've all been great to date, so mark your comedy calendars. It's on Comedy Central records.

The nifty new trio of exclusives are up, supporting ADAC-- an Automobile club in Germany and Europe. There are 3 sets. They are: 4077 Motorcycle, 5017 Helicopter, and an airport mega set 4078.

Words cannot express our rage at the lead news bite, because Botcon's customization class got an exclusive which we were hoping would get made. Only 52 of this Botcon G2 Sideswipe were made, and we're crying. Who wants to sell us one? Anyone?

Xbox 360 owners, it's time to look into Duke Nukem Manhattan Project, which has 24 levels of blowing up stuff. The $10/800 point title is one player, so yeah, there you go.

Buckle up! First up, TFW2005 has a big gallery of the Hasbro booth from Botcon, including quite a bit of new stuff. Some are repackaged toys you've seen, the most interesting of which is a G1-colored boxed seat of the Seacons. The price and exclusive (if it's exclusive) tag was not visible, but wow. Animated Ironhide and Rodimus Minor were shown, as were a G1-colored version of Movie Legends Devastator (marked "exclusive" but it didn't say whose) and numerous other toys.

A gallery of new toys at General's Joes reveals the Ice Cutter and some new figures, but rather than blab, just go see them. They're nice.

When we talk about an item and get comments about how nobody knew it existed, that's when it's time to post a review. Transformers: War for Cybertron is a prequel to the PC/Xbox 360/Playstation 3 video game of the same name, giving us the senate proceedings and courtroom arguments we've come to expect from stories that take place before ones we already know. We tried doing a Botcon write-up, with all the news, but it was just too damn much and too disorganized to get into one place. So here are some toy announcement highlights.

Early issues of the German Playmobil magazine had figures and accessories, and later ones had binoculars and other roleplay goods. Now it seems Issue #6 comes with a toy continent of Africa which... well, we don't know what it is. But now you can see what you're missing, and you aren't missing much.

Over at The Raving Toy Maniac, find a press release explaining the new licensing deal between Dreamworks and Dam Things From Denmark, an oddly appropriate name here, about the revival of Good Luck Trolls. After a massive push in the 1990s across numerous brands for boys, girls, and older folks, it seems now they are going to be pushed into movies and that probably means a movie. Screw you, Monday, we were having so much fun with the Transformers news over the weekend.

An astonishingly extensive gallery with equally astonishingly large watermarks has appeared of Darkmount from Generations, this time with plenty of size comparisons. We know you've seen the toy, and it'll likely be in stores before the month ends, but hey-- we love to drool over these things.

First up: iGear Toys is preparing a toy it calls Elegy which is clearly patterned after the Masterpiece Starscream toy mold. Did they change it enough to not infringe? Well, the lawyers can figure that one out, but it's just a few Decepticon logos away from being a passable Hasbro product. Love it or hate it, it's hard to deny it certainly looks like an authentic Transformers-branded product, which it is not. (Hasbro will be producing a new Dirge figure for its Generations line this fall. It will be $12ish. This toy will not be.)

Hasbro has released many toys named "Thrust" over the years, but this one is the closest to how the cartoon character is painted. Based on the 2007 Ramjet mold-- which itself started life as a 2006 Starscream-- this version includes new wings and a new paint job. Surprisingly, it also includes a tiny bit of chrome under the canopy. He turns from a jet to a robot. If you've been following this line since 2006, 2007, or even 2008, there's probably nothing here to surprise you. Very similar Thrust toys were previously sold at Botcon in a boxed set to the tune of nearly $300 (and more on the secondary market), and a 2008 Japanese release (of which this is a repaint) was closer to $100 at some times. The nifty new trio of Predators figures from NECA are up, first at Dread Central. See the Classic Predator (pictured), the Berserker Predator, and the Falconer Predator. These are apparently due out in the coming days, which is kinda late for a reveal.

New (to downloading) this week: Midway Arcade Treasures Extended Play and Bejeweled 2 each for $9.99. Also, Hot Shots Tennis: Get A Grip for $19.99.
