Target Getting New Earthrise Transformers Exclusives
|
Via Hasbro: Transformers: Generations -- War for Cybertron: Earthrise WFC-E30 Decepticon Clones 2-Pack ($24.99, July 24) and Transformers: Generations -- War for Cybertron: Earthrise WFC-E29 Voyager Seeker 2-Pack ($24.99, July 3.) Hasbro provided those dates, but here's your grain of salt with which to take it.
Skywarp and Thundercracker are obligatory and demanded by fans, while the Clones may surprise you - both have a lot of new paint apps, and Pounce tended to be expensive thanks to being in a hard-to-find Big Bad Toy Store exclusive boxed set, which I hope you got, as it was pretty good.

|
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

Bug Fixed: 1985 Super Mario Bros. Spiny Eggs

Via TCRF: Download Spiny Egg Speed Patch! The game had a bug - the eggs weren't supposed to drop like a lead weight. They're supposed to arc. And yes, there's a video.
There's a patch you can get if you want, but it's kind of fascinating to check out.

|
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
A nifty figur. This Transformers Generations War for Cybertron Earthrise Voyager Autobot Grapple Action Figure is a figure I didn't think I would want to see redone, yet it's pretty marvelous and a good benchmark for what this line can be. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more!

Transformers Super Megatron - Pulse Exclusive in the USA
|
Via Hasbro Pulse: Transformers Takara Tomy Generations Selects TT-GS09 Super Megatron. Like Star Convoy and the Seacons, this item is exclusive to Hasbro Pulse (and grey market importers) in the USA. (Yes, I asked. I know who to ask.)
Pre-orders are open through April 28 and the toy is expected late September. The Seacons were delayed a bit, so don't be surprised if this extensive retool of Titans Return Galvatron also takes a bit more time to get to market. For those keeping track, Hasbro Pulse shipped wave 1 of the Seacons a couple of weeks ago and just charged credit cards for wave 2 this week. That puts them at about two months late for that first wave.

Spawn on Kickstarter - Remastered Action Figure
|
Via Kickstarter: The Original SPAWN Action Figure & Comic Remastered (2020) is up for grabs at about $40. With comic shops closing for now, Kickstarter is a sensible place to try these things - and of course, it was funded pretty much immediately.
It is expected in November 2020 and is slightly taller - and of course more articulated - than the 1995 original. Also of note, the original figure came out about 25 years ago, so those of you old enough to remember when Todd Toys existed before McFarlane Toys, congratulations. You are old.

From not-SR-388 to you. This Toy Pizza Meteor II Action Figure is a marvelous wink to an era where video game artwork was inconsistent and fan art could be more on-model than what you saw on a box cover. And this is a good figure. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more!

Transformers Netflix Magnus, Voyagers, Deluxes Hit Walmarts
|
Via my Twitter: Some pictures of Transformers War for Cybertron Netflix Ultra Magnus, Battlefield Rung, and Hound. I found everything in the white box redeco wave, and they're pretty nifty - but not necessarily essential.
The "Spoilers Pack" has Ultra Magnus (more damage deco) with Battlefield Rung (bright pink) plus 3 Energon Cubes in some Play-Doh. It's neat, and I'm fearful people will swap them out before the item sells out at stores, so I got one now. My initial reaction was "wait for a sale" but I fear the swappers. Also the reaper.
Voyager Megatron has a stunning new paint job with wonderful silver and two great redeco Battle Master figures. Hotlink is a Starscream repaint and it's gorgeous. You need it.
Deluxe toys are all over the map. Decepticon Mirage and Scrapface (Refraktor repaint) are all-new, all-different paint jobs that may as well be entirely new characters. Well, one is. Sideswipe and Chromia are similar to their Siege selves, but with more grey damage and some other minor shade changes. Hound has more scuffing and is missing a few paint operations, like some of the car lights and some of the silvery damage deco.

Soko Banana Pre-Orders for NES
|
Via Stay Retro: Soko Banana NES Pre-Orders. If you missed the standard, limited, or digital editions on Kickstarter, they're up for pre-order for about $60-$90.
The game is a Sokoban clone puzzle game, which you have probably seen as a Boxxle or any other box-pushing title, popular on the GameBoy and other consoles in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The game originally had a release date of March 2020, and now is just "2020," so stay tuned to them for more on that.

Transformers Netflix Scrapface, Hound Pics on Twitter
|
Via my Twitter: Some pictures of Transformers War for Cybertron Netflix Scrapface and Hound. I am slowly getting these shot for reviews as soon as it makes sense, but why not put up the pictures early? It's a thing to do.
Scrapface is pretty gorgeous - it's a grey plastic figure with splashes of metallic blue paint. Hound is just a different, more muted Hound. The rule of thumb for this batch of exclusives is for you to get the Decepticons first.

Lanard does Top Gun for Walmart
|
Via Walmart: Top Gun Full Throttle Dual Jet Fighter. In addition to Mattel's Matchbox line, Lanard has an action figure line with what seem to be repurposed vehicles and figures. It's already available in some stores and by mail.
Lanard has made a name for themselves being more than just the people who do The Corps, thanks to being a sort of a store brand for Walmart with lines like Alien, Jumanji, and Kong: Skull Island in recent years. For $20, it's a lot of plastic in a box with 2 figures and 2 jets. The movie Top Gun Full Throttle is currently slated for December 23, after a delay from the summer due to the outbreak.

Amoeba Music Hollywood Closing
|
Via Twitter: It is with a very heavy heart that we must announce that the massive impact from COVID-19 has forced Amoeba Hollywood to remain closed until we move to our new location this fall. When I lived in LA, we made semi-regular trips to Amoeba and I tried to make it a point to sneak off whenever possible when I'm traveling to LA on business. I usually find a ton of neat, weird, and hard to find stuff and it's terrible it has to close early. A new location is coming, but not for a while, possibly a long while given the COVID-19 business.
It also had pretty consistently fantastic parking and generally great employees who'd help when you needed it, and stay out of your way if you're just going through bins like a crazy person. I resemble both kinds of person. They also do a fine mail order business, I've found some nicely priced LPs there which I couldn't find elsewhere.
Berkeley and San Francisco stores remain as is, so feel free to support them and their employees by mail or in person when it's safe to visit again.
