The game was originally sold with painted figures over a decade ago and people still enjoy playing. Updated versions of old characters are included as stretch goals, and the set has 71 miniatures in the box before taking hypothetical stretch goals into account. Non-HasLab editions of the game and numerous expansions are likely if this succeeds.
Tell your friends. No, really. The HeroScape game did well enough, but a lot of people complained they didn't know it existed and that $100 (or $150) set now goes for a pretty penny on eBay, so odds are this is the right time to hop on board if you care. At press time, the other HasLab item running is the Ghost Rider Engine of Vengeance at 5,470 backers - which is barely above last week, and does not bode well for the car to see production.

From last year! The Onell Design Glyos Pheyden Imhoden Pheydotep Action Figure is a classic, or rather, it would be if anybody bought it. It sold out quickly and was a very low run items a few years ago, so it's long sold out - but it's cool, and we're using it to kick off our October of monsters and bad guys! Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Adam's Star Wars Newsletter #11 - You Pulse Con Equals More
Galactic Hunter has posted a Adam's Star Wars Newsletter #11! Back in the 1990s I wrote an email newsletter with news and rumors about all things Kenner, Galoob, and whatever else I could dig up. Sadly this is mostly limited to stuff that has been confirmed, but this has new theme park releases, updates on movies and small screen shows, and the obligatory info dump from Hasbro's Pulse Con last weekend. Spoiler: if you were expecting more Cantina or Jabba Palace figures in any size, give up.. Read it here!
Via Retro Room Games: Elland the Crystal Wars is being released on cartridge by Retro Room Games. That means nothing to you - but this game started life roughly 20 years ago as a nearly-complete Dune game for the Game Boy Advance. Had it been released as intended nearly two decades ago, it would have been called Frank HerbertÕs Dune: Ornithopter Assault.
The cartridge in box is $56, a bare cart is $25, and the ROM is $16.
As of the time of the announcement Tuesday morning, it had 5,386 backers. Monday night, the Engine of Vengeance had 5,470 backers. Its peak was around 5,800 before the Robbie Reyes early bird goal was missed. At press time, it's back down to 5,361 (it was as high as 5,411 earlier Tuesday afternoon.)
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Via iam8bit: Garbage Pail Kids Mad Mike and the Quest for Stale Gum! It's $80 and is due for the NES in Q1 2023. A digital Steam release will join a pink or blue NES cartridge. It will also be on the Playstation store later this month, and on Xbox One/Series X/etc.
There is a video, but there is no footage of the game.
The press release calls it a brand-new game, and the physical release is limited to 4,000 total copies. It would have been nice to have some game footage if it's really due out later this month, but there you have it. Some of these things exist more to be a collectible than something that's actually fun, and at this point I have absolutely no idea if this is meant to be a licensed product or a blast from the not-past. The Jay & Silent Bob's Mall Brawl game was actually good, so anything is possible!
Star Wars Review: Black Krrsantan (Comic, The Black Series)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Black Krrsantan (Comic, The Black Series). It's the Halloween Wookiee! We, Chewbacca with a new head and armor! Based on the comics, this is the stopgap figure you can enjoy until the TV one comes out, at which time you'll never look at this one again. It's still a good head sculpt, with a great snarl, and lots of unique features like scars and pretty bright eyes. Having said that you may have a dozen of this mold with all the Chewbaccas they've made. Read the whole review.
Via Walmart and Hasbro: Transformers Retro The Transformers: The Movie G1 Autobot Hot Rod Collectible Action Figure! It's $33.97, which means adjusted for inflation it's technically cheaper than the original toy in 1986. The surprisingly bright toy has been a request of hardcore fans for years, but usually regarding newer molds. This toy has gray painted fists, two blasters, silver feet, non-chromed pipes, and other details like painted flames. To say the least, it's quite a change from the original.
These aren't are affiliate links, but this is what got put up so we get a nickel or something if you click and order. As far as I can tell, Speedia Hot Rod, Shadow Strip, and Crasher either never went live or sold out in moments. As of my writing this, you can still order Galaxy Shuttle, G1 Movie Hot Rod (magenta!), and G1 Movie Starscream.
Galaxy Shuttle makes his US toy debut. He was on Transformers Victory so he can be pals with your Liokaiser, Greatshot, Victory Sabre, and... not much else. With any luck we'll see new toys for team Dinoking or Deathsaurus or Road Caesar some day.
The G1 reissues are notable in that the colors are not only true to the movie, but there are seemingly no stickers either. A bunch of new toys went up for Star Wars as well, including Halloween figures that won't be available until at least December, because clearly the COVID production delay and freight issues have been solved.
A week ago, HeroScape was at 1,279. At press time, it's up to 2,184 - a nice increase, but short of the 8,000 backers needed.
A week ago, the Engine of Vengeance with Ghost Rider was at 5,470. While a new figure was revealed as part of the package, it's down to 5,227 today. It needs to move 9,000 units.
Given New York Comic Con was last week and Pulse Con was the prior weekend, neither is particularly close to getting made right now, but a lot can happen in a month.

Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Remember these? The Takara-Tomy Beast Saga Moreek Burst Action Figure is a mystery-box largely unpainted clear plastic bat! These are the spiritual successors to Battle Beasts, and like the later figures in this line, was also only sold in Japan and through importers. I've been sitting on this one for ten years - was the review worth the wait? Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Echo (The Black Series). It's about as close to the Borg as you will see in Star Wars, and this figure has a decent smattering of gear and a distinctive paint job. Read the whole review.
Review: Fisher-Price Imaginext Series 9 Mystery Figures Invisible Man
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Via Chunklet / Man... or Astro-Man?: Distant Pulsar 2x7"! It's $3 for the digital (4 tracks, cheap) or $14.99 for a double 7-inch. The clear and blue and red vinyl already sold out.
If you're ordering, go through their other stuff - they have some nice Pylon merch, more Astro-Man stuff, and even a Xerobot shirt.
Via Mattel Creations: Masters of the Universe Origins Eternia Playset! It's $550 and was close to 50% funded shortly after lunch, which was after the launch. They seem to be copying some of the finer points of Hasbro's HasLab model, like an "early bird bonus" if it's funded quickly. They also dropped the high backer requirement, needing only 5,000 units. (At $550, that's $2.75 million.)
Early Bird gets you King Grayskull, but a Moat Monster and Keclar figure are included if it hits 10,000 before November 9. I think it will do fine. The ship date was hidden in a FAQ and is currently listed as "Spring 2024," which is, obviously, a long time away. At press time it's 58% supported.
Star Wars Review: Boba Fett (Morak, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Boba Fett (Morak, The Vintage Collection). It's hanging around here, and you can probably find this Target exclusive just by going to the store. I don't doubt the upcharge to $20.99 helps keep them around, but it is a fairly nice figure despite the price. Read the whole review.
This week's batch of titles on the eShop: ThemÕs FightinÕ Herds, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway, DRAGON BALL: THE BREAKERS, and over a dozen more.
Pockets groups B and 95% of C are said to be shipping this year. That's good! Cartridge adapters for Neo Geo Pocket Color, Atari Lynx, and Turbo Express won't ship until next year - that's bad. (But cores for those platforms may be up before then.) Preorders for those start October 28.
It's also notable that their very nice Super NES clone the Super Nt and Sega Genesis clone the Mega Sg are opening their final pre-order runs. I don't know if this is a warning that other products with similar functionality may be coming or not, but the Nt Mini hasn't been rerun since the "last run" a few years ago, and the competitive device RetroUSB's AVS has been out of stock for quite some time. If you want a solution that can run your own cartridges well, this may be the time to grab them. The next round of pre-orders starts October 28 for these, too. Having used both, I can recommend them as being good for those of you with new TVs, old games, and old controllers.
Via Kid Congo Powers & the Near Death Experience on Bandcamp: Live in St. Kilda! It's $9 for the digital (12 tracks) with no CD or vinyl release. This is, as they say, it.
It's a rare recorded example of Kid Congo minus his usual backing band, so that may be of interest. Mr. Powers is known for his solo efforts but also for work with The Gun Club, The Cramps, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and Knoxville Girls - just to name a few. And generally you're going to have a good time with them, so this might be worth a look.

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: 1-JAC (Disney Droid Factory). This figure has blasters fused to his legs and hands that can't hold guns - it's a new sculpt, so this seems like a deliberate attempt to keep the figure less exciting than Disney's previous 4-LOM mold. Read the whole review.
Hasbro Q3 Earnings Miss Mark: Inflation, Inventory Up
Via CNBC: Hasbro profit misses the mark as toy maker faces high inventory and inflation. A lot (and I do mean a lot) of product has been hitting in the last 2-3 months, but the article says "CEO Chris Cocks pointed to 'increasing price sensitivity' among consumers." In 2020 and 2021, people were leaping to pay premium pricing on certainly online third-party marketplaces thanks to shortages, but with 2-3 rounds of price increases a lot of people are dialing it back a bit - heck, even I'm finding some lines a bit too rich for my blood. "The toy giant has raised prices this year as inflation soared to four-decade highs."
It's worth remembering that regular and exclusive 6-inch collector figures were around $19.99 3 years ago, and for most of the 2010s. The same toys, with the same molds, get reissued with similar if not identical paint jobs for $5-$7.50 more now, plus nearly everything else shot up at least 20%. That's a big jump. With G.I. Joe dead as a movie franchise, Transformers delayed a year, Power Rangers not making a ton of noise, and licensed brands Star Wars and Marvel suffering a lack of freshness - and paradoxically, new classic stuff - in their offerings while losing Disney Princess to Mattel again - what did you expect?
Hasbro's current HasLab initiatives seem to be struggling a bit and two of the entries over the past year failed to cross the finish line. Those who wait to buy holiday gifts until December 26 this year may find themselves richly rewarded. This is not to pick on Hasbro - Spin Master's Black Adam toys were on clearance before the movie came out, Target has had zero patience for letting its exclusives sell at full price, and so on and so forth.
Via Hasbro/advertiser Entertainment Earth: Marvel Legends War Machine 6-Inch Action Figure! It's interesting because this is his Marvel vs. Capcom armor. So far we haven't had Ryu or Mega Man to go with him in this scale, but Hasbro did make some nice 3 3/4-inch ones.
Due in 2023 for $24.99, it's not too pricey - you get fireblasts and fists, but no build-a-figure piece (or game branding.) It's still neat stuff.
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Newish! The Playmobil 70732 "Fi?ures" Figures Vampire looked familiar - it's not an exact match for Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night but you have to admit, there are some similarities. He has a rubbery coat, a bat sidekick, and a sword - that's good! He's in a mystery bag - that may not be good, depending on how well your fingers can see parts. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Dark Trooper (The Black Series). It's a big one! The black plastic is shiny, the articulation actually seems worth the upcharge - but the chest is a tiny bit loose on the body, like a vest. It's a stunning display piece and a neat figure for Dark Forces and The Mandalorian fans, so grab one if you can. Read the whole review.
Via Adam Gastineau: PC Engine for Analogue Pocket. He also made other cores, but this one is an early version that does not yet support SuperGrafx or PC-CD games. That means most of those awesome Japanese arcade ports or Dracula X: Rondo of Blood don't work yet. But odds are Alien Crush works.
It does, however, support four players if you have an Analogue Dock which could be good for Bomberman fans later. I don't yet have a Pocket but this is something I'm very eager to try out.
A week ago, HeroScape was at 2,602. At press time, it's up to 2,829 - still very short of the 8,000 backers needed with about three weeks to go. It did increase since last Friday, though.
A week ago, the Engine of Vengeance with Ghost Rider was at 5,121. It dipped below 5,000 by Friday and is at 4,926 at press time. It needs to move 9,000 units by the end of the month, but it dipped 50 units since Friday so that's unlikely.
Meanwhile over at Mattel, Masters of the Universe Origins Eternia Playset is at 8,109 backers and hit its 5,000 piece goal. It's doing very well but since King Grayskull is only for first-week backers, I could see it not getting a lot more support at this point. (Nobody wants an incomplete set.)

Review: Onell Design Glyos Skeleden Hallowden King Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
How Halloweeny! The Onell Design Glyos Skeleden Hallowden King Action Figure is a pumpkin-themed skeleton warrior from beyond space - with lots of armor, and an axe! It's a good one if you can find it still. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via Kickstarter: Boglins: Battle for the Boglands. It's a board game, but with 12 mini figures in it which is probably why a lot of people would want it. One copy of the game is $49 and it is expected in July.
With 36 days to go, it's at about 17% of the way to its goal - not a bad start.
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Old! The Fisher-Price Imaginext Monsters Figure Pack is a set of repackaged blind-bag figures from a few years ago and a great way to finish up the 16bit.com Halloween season of Figures of the Day - there's a lot more to come for November. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Star Wars Review: Migs Mayfeld (Morak, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Migs Mayfeld (Morak, The Vintage Collection). It just came out, and Target marked him down immediately. It's a very nice figure though, and it looks just like Bill Burr if his head was the size of a peanut. Read the whole review.
Via Hasbro Pulse: Transformers Generations HasLab Deathsaurus. At $179.99 it's one of the cheaper HasLab offerings this year, and people are receptive - at press time it's 3,836 backers of the needed 11,000. It's doing pretty well and will probably eclipse the Engine of Vengeance early Friday.
Tier 1 goals include blast effects, a mace, and a blaster at 14,000.
Tier 2 goals include a throne and a display stand, but requires 17,000 backers.
The character's name has been a point of translation arguments for years. Would it be Desaurs, Dezaras, Deathsaurus, or something else? Well, now we know.
Multiple heads in two packs, plus three figures, all from long-absent molds are up for grabs. The prices aren't bad and you get a lot of parts in each set, so it's worth a look.
Doctor Doom, Spider-Woman, and Luke Cage/Power Man were all revealed in packaging meaning they'll probably show up in a couple of months. No pre-orders are live yet.
If that weren't enough, they said "we're not always going to do six" figures per wave "because it's really important for us that this line attracts new collectors. The collector community out there for the [Marvel] Legends 375 is really really great and very supportive," they said, and went on to comment they want to be sure the heavy hitters are always out there for newcomers to buy. (They did not name which figures would be included in this wave.)
In the "news you can use" department, Hasbro Pulse restocked their Marvel Legends Retro 375 X-Men Multipack for $22.99, so I snagged one. It had been going for $50-$100 on eBay and other marketplaces, so if you missed it, you can get them here now before X-Men fever kicks off next year and then the new cartoon makes it worse or completely ends it.
This week's batch of titles on the eShop: ARKANOID Š ETERNAL BATTLE, Arcade Archives TOUKI DENSHOU ANGEL EYES, Halloween Shooter, and over a dozen more.
They're great systems at $199.99 a pop, but you will want to be sure you bring your own controllers and games. They work incredibly well, but if you keep hearing insufferable game dorks saying a MiSTer does more, it's true. But these are ready to go out of the box and have fun firmware additions you can load if you want to order homebrew ROMs and such. They're impressive consoles and as this site is named 16bit.com, you can imagine I'm fond of them both and find them to be incredibly welcome ways to play old games on modern televisions.
Last week, HeroScape was at 2,829. At press time, it's at 3,039 units with two weeks to go. At this point, I'm not hopeful it'll get funded unless they add on some last-minute bonus items.
The Marvel Legends Engine of Vengeance ends tonight and was at 4,926 units a week ago. At press time, it sold 4,847. This actually represents a small increase after steady decreases for several days, but it would be a miracle if the item gets funded when it ends at midnight Eastern tonight.
Transformers Deathsaurus kicked off last Thursday and is doing pretty well. At press time it's 5,161 units sold out of 11,000 needed to fund.
Classic Review: Hasbro Iron Man 2 Comic Series Iron Monger from 2010
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
#34 from 2010! The Hasbro Iron Man 2 Comic Series Iron Monger was pretty impressive for the time, being both a co-tool with the Hulkbuster (hitherto unseen on-screen at that point in the movies) but mostly it was cool as a big blue suit of armor. It's a big 4-inch scale figure and was only $7.99 - today, a similar figure would be at least $15 and given the pricing on "deluxe" figures these days, would undoubtedly be closer to $30. Read on, it's a good one - and come back tomorrow for an all-new review!
