Mega Man 10 for the Xbox 360 Live Arcade Released, Big

Xbox Live Arcade10 Times the LoveXbox 360 owners, it's time for Mega Man 10, another NES-style sequel in Capcom's game franchise. It's $10/800 points, but nearly 200 megabytes, which seems to go against the spirit of programming an NES-style game.

Official Hasbro Q&A with 16bit.com: April 2010 Edition

TransformersHasbroThe kind souls at Hasbro and Hunter PR once again answered two questions from you, and by you, we mean us, because we're selfish. Here are the questions we asked and the responses we got, including some good news regarding the future of at least two Animated deluxe toys:

Q: Can you give us a status report on Transformers Animated in 2010? After seeing Animated Rodimus show up briefly on Kmart.com and Blackout in Japanese collector magazines, we'd love to know what (if anything) to expect the currently available Arcee and Cybertron Ratchet figures, such as if these might be absorbed into "Generations" or put back on some degree of long-term hold. Also, if like a recent magazine article alluded and unreleased toys do make it into the Japanese range, will it be likely to see these in the American line or should we just consider Animated more or less over?

A: The current plan for the release of the current Animated figures is this: Toys R' Us will be carrying two waves of Animated Deluxe. The first wave will be released this Spring and will include Arcee and Cybertronian Ratchet. The second wave will be released this Fall and will include Rodimus Minor and Cybertronian Ironhide. While we cannot promise that any other figures will be released, we continue to examine all of our options to make those figures that were completed available to you.

As for the Japanese release of figures, if figures do become available is this market, it does not mean that they will be made available in the U.S. Simply stated, we are very proud of the success that the Animated line had, but there will be no further development put behind it.

Q: How important is the character selection when assembling a line? For example, "Transformers Universe 2.0" had few of the heavy hitters in it-- no Optimus Prime, no Megatron, no Bumblebees, etc. Meanwhile, "Transformers Generations" seems to be starting off with War for Cybertron versions of several major characters. With Star Wars and GI Joe it seems like there's a mandate to include Duke/Luke/Snake Eyes/Darth Vader/etc. in the line at all times, but it seems there's much less of this going on with Transformers. So just how much weight do you grant characters over gimmicks and alt modes and whatnot, anyway?

A: Choosing characters is a very selective process. Many factors come into play, but few are as important as vehicle type and character variety within the line. We typically use the heavy hitters as often as they're needed. But for specific reasons why we didn't approach OP/BB/etc in Universe, you need only look at the other toylines that were happening near-about the same time. Movie 1 and Animated. Both had multiple versions of said characters... with them being fresh in everyone's mind, we decided to give other characters a chance.

Transformers Generations Blurr Coming, Botcon Spark Robot Mode

TransformersPYROWhile Botcon's site previewed the vehicle mode, some dude on the KOToys.com forums sent out their Botcon Autobot Spark in robot mode. The good news: it's freaking gorgeous and amazingly colorful. The bad: no retooled head. Still, it's neat, and you should check it out.

The real news, though, comes from a nice site you may not have seen yet called Parry Game Preserve, which focuses on a lot of great toy stuff. Hasbro confirmed to them that a repaint of Generations Drift is coming, and it's gonna be Blurr. Wowie zowie.

Galactic Hunter & Star Wars NewsEmperor PalpatineFigure of the Day has updated once again! The daily feature on figures you might have but might not-- either way, here's what you've been missing! Spanning from the original Power of the Force series of 1995 to the latest of The Legacy Collection, it's almost like a history lesson!

Today we look at the Emperor Palpatine figure from 2009, based on the special effects of 1980. It's a weird one. Go to Figure of the Day for the next update, with the latest installment in our ongoing series!

Hasbro also sent in some answers to our questions! Here they are-- we asked, they answered.

Q: Now that we're getting vintage packaging, are there any chances for vintage-inspired deco or accessories? Blue shirt Hammerheads, swim fins Ponda Baba, Blue Snaggletooth, telescoping-lightsaber Darth Vader, and that first awesome Gonk Droid all come to mind, and that's just 1978 and 1979. Heck, maybe even the Ewoks could have some potential, like a POTF-colored Warok!

A: Adam, a great idea and we'll say that there is a possibility. If the 4-LOM/Zuckuss pairing this Summer does well, it does open the door for future smaller-run Vintage homages like you suggest. We would love to see that personally, and will hold that door open. However, a few things won't work, like telescoping Vader, since we don't have plans to go back to more vintage sculpts and that one relied on the arm to really work.

Q: In a recent ToyFare magazine article, we were treated to an early look of a Nom Anor figure. With the loss of the 87504 comic pack SKU, is it safe to assume that this item will not see production in the near future or is it in the process of finding a new home?

A: Right now, Nom Anor is planned to slot into the Vintage in late '11, right after Bastila Shan.

Thank you Hasbro and Hunter PR!

Fake Frenzy, Fake Rumble Look Pretty Good

TransformersFIRRIBHasbro's lack of vision/time/interest/whatever seems to be the gain of Perfect Effect, who have revealed red and blue "Shadow Warrior" transforming figures. Basically, they're non-Hasbro items which look a lot like Frenzy and Rumble from the original Transformers but don't change into tapes. We're no patent or copyright experts but it's likely they were changed enough to avoid legal problems. At $50 for the pair, they're potentially impressive enough to justify the not-too-shabby price.

Archie Strives for Cultural Relevancy

NewsArchie's New NeighborIt seems like every year or so Archie Comics tries to do something to remind people that they exist. This year, it's time to introduce a gay character while every pop culture site goes "oh wait so not Jughead?" The new dude's name is Kevin Keller and if it's anything like the whole marriage debacle last year we assume that this is literally all you will ever hear about it. Unless you actually read the Archie books, of course, and if you do, we'd love to talk to you. But hey, there you go, Riverdale has entered the... we guess later part of the 20th Century.
