Star Wars Review: Cad Bane (The Book of Boba Fett, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Cad Bane (The Book of Boba Fett, The Vintage Collection). I like this one - aliens in hats are not common in any action figure line, so a new version of a live-action take on everybody's favorite blue cowboy alien bounty hunter is pretty welcome. The joints are good, the deco is good, the sculpt is nice, and the price still kind of stings a bit. But it's a very nice figure. Read the whole review.
Via Digital Eclipse: Digital Eclipse & Atari: The FAQ about their recent business venture. Atari has recently purchased a lot of video game IP like Berzerk and Frenzy, and also is preparing to release its own cartridges again, and will be making an HDMI Atari 2600+ console for modern (well, "modern" HDMI-enabled TVs.) It sounds like someone with money is on a buying spree and Digital Eclipse will be doing business as usual, but there are a lot of mergers and consolidation recently and to say the least, the future is tough to predict.
One would hope that this sort of thing would result in a Rhino Records-esque program of catalog reissues and deluxe editions galore, but as time goes on that may not be as exciting for the market as Generation X nostalgia for Atari is hard to measure. But hey, there's a lot of IP to license and mine, and for the first big era of gaming "Atari" was synonymous with "video game."

Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R3-T6 (Custom). It's not a licensed product and it was quite expensive for what it is, but it's the kind of thing I've always been surprised Kenner - and especially Hasbro - never pursued with the old R2-D2 mold. Secondary market prices on the droids from Stan Solo are getting expensive, and it makes sense - they look cool and are functionally pretty nice. I'd recommend it if you're no longer buying as much licensed stuff. Read the whole review.
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted ten years ago today! The Topps MiniKins 4-Pack Mini-Figures are Garbage Pail Kids that came and went shockingly fast - they were neat, but didn't seem to set the world on fire. Actually it seemed like it might be the end of the mini-figure trend, but now we're getting more again at Wendy's and Walmart. Who would have guessed? Read on, it's a good one - and come back tomorrow for an all-new review!

From Kickstarter: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness, the classic RPG, is getting a reprint thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that's already full funded. Hardcover, revised books with more art and other goodies can be yours, as can some miniatures as stretch goals. I remember seeing these and flipping through them in comic shops when I was a kid, so you might want to check this out.
Terror Bears miniatures may be of interest to you. They are, sadly, not cheap to add on at about $70 for the hero set or the villain set. There are other goodies to add-on as well.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R4 Droid (Advent Calendar 2022). It's a nice design, but I don't think I understood the inspiration - it looks like DHL, but not. There's a little symbol on the dome, it's kind of sparkly, but mostly it just looks like a cool droid you wouldn't mind having around in any Star Wars scenario. I like it a lot. Read the whole review.
Via Nintendo: Development of a Live-Action Film of The Legend of Zelda to Start. That's a big deal - Avi Arad is involved, and he did a lot of Marvel stuff over the years. It took about five years for the Super Mario movie to come to fruition, so I wouldn't hold your breath that this will be a thing before the end of the decade.
A movie - good or bad - generally does a great job raising the visibility of an existing IP, meaning old games and new games will sell well even if the movie tanks. It's a great marketing tool. According to Deadline, WesBall is directing. He did The Maze Runner as well as the upcoming (neat looking) Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, so we're going to see how he handles previously mute characters early next year with his new apes.
Via He-Man.org: The He-Man.Org forums will close on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. These forums have been a big part of the fan community with this century's relaunches - and slow periods - so it's more than a bit of a shock that it's closing down. It was a great site to watch during the many revivals of Masters of the Universe and a handy place to keep up with the odd release cadence that was the 200X line.
Review: Super7 Planet of the Apes Nova ReAction Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Retro! This Super7 Planet of the Apes Nova ReAction Figure looks a lot like a figure from the 1970s or 1980s, but was made about 5 years ago. She's not as decked-out as other figures in the wave - no accessories - but she does fit in nicely with their Kenner-esque designs. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Review: MT80 White Mechanical Keyboard. Manufacturer MIKIT reached out to us and asked if we wanted to review their keyboards - as I've been interested in trying out more mechanical keyboards, I said yes. This is one of two reviews we'll be posting this month, and the clear, light-up 2.fGHz/Bluetooth/wired device was a joy to use. It's not particularly unusual, but the chunky case was welcoming and I loved the giant dial volume knob on the top, plus I found how they stored the 2.4GHz USB dongle incredibly clever.
As I write this, these aren't sold in American stores or American storefronts but MIKIT ships worldwide. I wouldn't necessarily recommend you throw your current keyboard in the garbage, but if you're looking for something that has a little more personality with lights and a big metal dial and a magnetic compartment, you might enjoy this a lot. Classic Review: ToyFinity Robo Force Genesis Edition Action Figure
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted ten years ago today! The ToyFinity Robo Force Genesis Edition Action Figure was a "first shot" sold to fans. The license has since gone on to another company, but this heavy hitter is still an impressive toy robot. Read on, it's a good one - and come back tomorrow for an all-new review!

Possibly in one of the Walmarts near you, but probably not all of them! The Hasbro Transformers Legacy Evolution Leader G2 Universe Grimlock Figure takes the Studio Series 86 toy, removes Wheelie, and adds a lot of gratuitous stripes and color. It's great - maybe not $55 worth of great for all fans, but I went running around to find one before finally being able to order it from Walmart.com, as it is their exclusive. If you know what this is based on, you probably want it. $55 is nothing compared to what BotCon might have charged you had it been their exclusive in some alternate timeline. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
No dates or specifics were given, but it's a start. Not all of these relaunches and remakes wind up materializing - for example, a Hulu remake of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has been going, as far as can be told, absolutely nowhere. But Doctor Who will be back on BBC and Disney+ this month, so at least you've got that going for you. And if any action figures are coming from any of these brands in a big meaningful way, they're being pretty quiet about it.
Star Wars Review: Wicket W. Warrick (Ewoks Cartoon, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Wicket W. Warrick (Ewoks Cartoon, The Vintage Collection). Depending on how you look at it, it's great. In person, the hood is a little on the neon orange side - but it looks good in pictures, and is not quite the yellowish hues seen on 1980s Ewok advertising artwork. There's a lot to like, and a little to complain about, but you get a good coin and really nice packaging for (what else) a premium price. Read the whole review.

Via Analogue: Analogue Pocket: Classic Limited Editions.
Highly limited quantities @ $249.99 each. They should be available and also out of stock Friday. After a glow drop, and a clear drop, this is the opaque drop - and I'd go as far as to say "don't even bother, it'll be sold out" but maybe at some point they'll have stock for more than a minute or two. I have and love the black one I got a while ago, so I hope those that want one can get one.
Failing that, there are other alternatives in the works - that's a tease for a fully third-party-part Game Boy Color, with an FPGA brain and some other interesting enhancements.
Via Hasbro: Unboxing the Transformers Generations HasLab Deathsaurus. Smashed corners are a thing of the past as the box has corner protectors, a brown outer box, and another outer box for shipping. It should show up in good shape, and they had some updates on the chrome and materials to hopefully stop the chrome from scraping.
Via Mega Cat Games on Kickstarter: The Meating: A New Game for the Original Nintendo. There is a demo, and it's pretty fun - I got clobbered on level 3 and need to give it another try. You're a ghost minotaur taking revenge on someone in some sort of slaughterhouse. It's a clever action/puzzle game.

Review: Hasbro Transformers Legacy Evolution Leader Nova Prime Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
It was on sale - now? Not. The Hasbro Transformers Legacy Evolution Leader Nova Prime Action Figure is a retool of a toy that's been retooled a couple of times, and it's excellent. Siege Galaxy Prime (and later Ultra Magnus in a few flavors) got wings, new colors, a new chest, and lots of other little tweaks to look more like he did in the IDW comics. Is it the best one you could ever hope to get? No, but it's really impressive for a retool exclusive that wasn't marked up significantly. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via Matt Hughson and more on itch.io: NESDev Compo '23. In addition to Mosh Lift, there's Little Sisyphus (which did not enjoy my Mac emulators), Tiny Golf, Skate Scramble, Super Strife, and many others - some of which have no sound.
Star Wars Review: General Hera Syndulla (The Black Series)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: General Hera Syndulla (The Black Series). Even if you didn't love the show, you can't not like the figure. The face paint is good, the green skin looks great. I love her jacket and gloves, and the bright orange pants really pop. It's the kind of figure you probably wish you had years earlier, especially if it were smaller and could fit in vehicles. (And as luck would have it, those are also available now.) Even as someone who is kind of over the whole 6-inch thing, I can't deny this is a good one. Read the whole review.
Via Thalia.de: PLAYMOBIL¨ Set "Village People". It's a pretty good set - six figures for about US $22 - but sadly Thalia.de does not ship to the USA. (Do you? Call me.)
We've seen NHL, we've seen Ghostbusters and Scooby-Doo and Star Trek, we've had a bunch of real-life artists and historical figures. As far as I know this is the first licensed music act made in Playmobil. Everybody else they've done tends to be so old, they're in the public domain. Who's next? ABBA? Boney M? Alice Cooper? Kraftwerk? Please let it be Krafterk.

Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Satisfaction! This Super7 Devo Satisfaction Bob Casale ReAction Figure looks pretty much exactly what I would imagine when someone says "they're making a Devo figure." Bob2 comes complete with guitar and has absolutely no problems looking like he's playing it. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

Star Wars Review: Admiral Motti (Imperial Officers set, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Admiral Motti (Imperial Officers set, The Vintage Collection). It's new! The last time we got a new Motti mold was in the CommTech era, and we had a reissue of him in a Diamond exclusive boxed set - remember those? Those were great. Anyway, this new one has improved sculpting and articulation - that's good! - but it doesn't have that tug-on-the-collar choke thing, which is pretty much the reason you want a toy of that character. It's still pretty good, and so far exclusive to a white box set of figures. Read the whole review.
MST3K: Turkey Day Today, S14 Crowdfunding Ends Soon
Via MST3K: Let's Make MST3K Season 14! ends this weekend. As of right now, they have about $2.3 million of the $4 million needed after shaving down some of the budget, with under 2 days left. (It doesn't look hopeful.)

Star Wars Review: Chopper (C1-10P, The Retro Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Chopper (C1-10P, The Retro Collection). This is one of those figures you buy, open, and go "yeah, that's the stuff." Like R2-D2 of old, he has a clicky dome and a sticker. Unlike R2-D2, he has a removable third leg. If you were a Kenner kid, this is a must-buy figure - I'd say they more or less nailed it, except for the fact he's a hair too wide to fit in the old Y-Wing Fighter's droid socket. I would say it's one of the very best figures of the year, if you're in to this format. Read the whole review.
I long for the day where they distribute these to American game shops. I'd probably be at GameStop on a weekly basis if they actually carried this kind of product.
