Surprisingly influential with lots of parodies and tributes, Matt Frewer's fake digital character is set to return for a new drama series on AMC. He's sold New Coke, he's introduced music videos, he's starred on an ABC sci-fi series for two years. Also he was in Pixels. Your dad probably got a huge kick out of this, so go ask him why this is exciting.

Review: Hasbro Transformers Studio Series Spike in Exo-Suit
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Not bad! The Hasbro Transformers Studio Series Spike in Exo-Suit is a new mold shipping now but he's a little hard to find in stores as the only new guy in a wave with more Shockwave and Ravage. Happy hunting - this one is pretty neat, but not amazing. There are blast effects and a cool lever to move his head inside the suit. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Glyos News Dump: Six Second Toy Talk - Onell Design Quindecim Pheyden. If you missed this wave, many are still in stock at the Onell Design Store including this gold and silver fellow. He's molded in gold plastic and painted gold and silver - if you picked up the Outer Space Men figures, you'll be familiar with this impressive technique.
If you haven't yet played with Glyos figures, a) welcome to this web site, and b) they feature a unique construction that lets you pop them apart and swap limbs - as I try to show in about six seconds below. He's pictured with the Healey Made Raider (Hunter) from a couple of years ago.
It's a very short look at the new figure (and how the Glyos system works.) It's also worth noting that this wave came with some stowaways - fans reported getting a bare blue Pheyden, a bare gold Pheyden, or a bag of orange parts.
Via Mazamars, who built on work from Furrtek, as reported by RetroRGB: Neogeo for Pocket (Alpha 0.5). What does this mean? You can boot SNK Neo Geo games on an Analogue Pocket with the latest firmware.
You probably want more analysis, and since my unit isn't here yet I'd like to point you to these features:
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Client (The Black Series). Werner Herzog, as an Imperial gangster, complete with ice cream maker, can be yours right now. I like how this one turned out. Read the whole review.
Via Animobil.info: Wiltopia Wave 1, which showcases comparisons with previous animal releases and shows off the new plastic-free-ish packaging.
The colors are a little paler, and some are identical, but it's neat to see all the changes. The tigers are much brighter orange than usual, for example. The manatees are coming later, and I am quite excited.
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
I think this one is gone! The Hasbro Marvel Hulk Action Figure is a roughly $4 figure if you can find it - less overseas - and it's very retro. The face paint looks like something out of the 1980s, and so does the articulation. To keep costs down, he comes in a clear plastic bag - and looks more retro than Hasbro's carded retro line. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via Kickstarter: Operation: Recall Š Legendary Creators Back on Active Duty! The pitch: they got a bunch of 1980s Hasbro guys together to make new G.I. Joe-compatible o-ring figures. There are some excellent concepts and figures start around $30 a whack.
With the ex-Hasbro guys on design/sculpting/packaging, the Callsign: Longbow guys at Grindstone Toys are working to help with manufacturing. At this time those figures have yet to be released, but it looks like a good time for o-ring Joe fans.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Yoda (The Retro Collection). It's very close to the 1980 original, and increasingly expensive for a 2020 reissue. Read the whole review.
This week's batch of titles on the eShop: Arcade Archives ROLLER JAMMER, Japanese Escape Games The Retro House , Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony, and over a dozen more.
If you haven't found the Walmart Velocitron Speedia 500 Transformers yet, may I suggest this link: Action Figure. Seriously. That's the assortment, which is 8 figures per box - 1x Clampdown, 1x Cosmos, 2x Blurr, 2x, Road Rocket, and 2x Burnout.
The link for the same product at Walmart.com seems less accurate. Before you doubt my powers, I just used it to find Cosmos before writing this, so give it a whirl. Cosmos was indeed worth all the driving around - I dare say he's so good I may sell off some old Cosmos toys and never need to consider buying a new one.

Review: Transformers Generations War for Cybertron Trilogy Selects Decepticon Deep Cover Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Old! The Transformers Generations War for Cybertron Trilogy Selects Decepticon Deep Cover Action Figure is not a new release, but in light of recent repaints it might be worth remembering you have some good ones (or missed some) and can just look into things you have, too. Because you probably have a pretty great shelf of Sideswipe retools and repaints. This is a good one! So read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
MiSTer Gets Triple Controller - Classic Gaming USB Adapter V2
Via Tindle: Triple Controller - Classic Gaming USB Adapter V2. This USB adapter allows you to use your existing Super NES, NES, and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive (and presumably other compatible system) controllers with your MiSTer FPGA setup. At this time it's $29 plus shipping, which is $5 in the USA.
I don't have one yet and I'm on the fence - I've found some USB adapters work great but not with all controllers, particularly some have had difficulties with the NES Advantage or the Retro-Bit Power Stick. It also says it works with Macs, PCs, Retro Pi, and presumably other platforms - so that could be useful.
Vaguely social: 16bit.com on TikTok! The kids won't care, but I've been posting the old Six Second Toy Talk vides from YouTube over here to see if anyone cares. The answer is "not really," and I've made a couple of new ones to test the waters. If viewership picks up I'll make some more, as it's fun to dabble in video. Here's a Kylo Ren video from 2015.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Ahsoka Tano (The Black Series). This is her first 6-inch figure based on the live-action appearances, and with two lightsabers it's pretty great! The knee articulation is clever and the sculpting is, as always, great. Read the whole review.
Via Shelf Presents: 1:12 Arcade Stickers Wave 2, as well as other series, let you convert your Fortnite accessory packaging into classic miniature arcade cabinets. It's a pretty brilliant idea.
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
A classic! The Onell Design Glyos Neo Phase Pheyden MK II Action Figure is an impressive specimen from 2013 - which I shot and never posted. Let's fix that! I have a big backlog of older toys to go through, some of which have few to no reviews online - so I'll be tackling more of those as the year goes on. (September has a theme picked out already.) So read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via Herr Zatacke on itch.io: 2bit PXLR Studio is new software for your Game Boy Camera, but there's also an Analogue version in development which could be handy. Right now it seems to be usable in hacked cameras. He writes:
"2bit PXLR Studio is a custom ROM ('firmware') for the Game Boy Camera targeted on accessing the full potential of the original Game Boy Camera's sensor, as well as giving photographers more control."
actuallyxukkorz on Instagram made a post where they were "Testing out new functionality on the Analogue Pocket beta firmware and loving getting more than 30 shots on a walk. Shot with 2bit PXLR software on Analogue Pocket." Which sounds pretty handy - when I was going to toy trade shows, I was bringing 3 Game Boy Cameras with me as each one served as a roll of film that fills up until I could download/edit images.
Star Wars Review: Darth Vader (The Dark Times, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Darth Vader (The Dark Times, The Vintage Collection). It's probably Hasbro's very best overall Darth Vader. The articulation is good - Vader can nod up and down. He has two extra hands. He has a hilt and a fully-lit lightsaber to. Short of a retool with a bashed-up helmet, I assume this is as good as a Darth Vader in this size is going to get for a decade. Read the whole review.
Final day: G.I. Joe Classified Series Cobra H.I.S.S. ends today at 12:00 AM EDT. It's still $299.99 and it comes with 4 6-inch figures, which is probably a decent value proposition given recent inflation.
It's neat - the plastic parts of the packaging become a display base, the paper tube unrolls to be a small road, and the plastic wrapper, well, that's just garbage.

Adam's Star Wars Newsletter #10 - Summer Convention Wrap-Up
Galactic Hunter has posted a Adam's Star Wars Newsletter #10! Rogue One returns to theaters. Andor was delayed! We saw new toys and reissues of old toys at San Diego Comic-Con! Disney's Halloween items are starting to hit theme parks, as is a Kenobi-specific droid set that looks pretty sharp. There's also a big list of new announcements and recent releases. Read it here!
Via MiSTerFPGA.org: Re: Sega Saturn Core Update. A pre-Alpha single (and dual) RAM stick version of the Sega Saturn core is up for grabs, if you want to try it out.
It's progress! Thank you @srg320_ for all the hard work. (He also works on the 32x core and other stuff.)
Hot on the heels of Coca-Cola Pixel (which I did not see) and Coca-Cola Starlight (which was fine), now you can waste $2 on a 20 ounce bottle of Coca-Cola Dreamworld. While the name would imply it tastes like your dreams, this turned out to be very true, particularly if your dreams are generally unmemorable or outright unpleasant. I found a bottle at Walmart while getting bananas, as one does.
It's also available in tiny and expensive cans, and as another in a long lineage of novelty drinks you'll no doubt continue on with your life never wondering what happened to this drink once it is quickly discontinued. I do not have the training nor the vocabulary of a gourmet, but it has a smell that hits you like a swift jab to the jaw. I saw other critics say "it tastes like citrus!" but having had Orange Coke and Orange Pepsi plus other weird Lemon or other cola flavors, I can assure you it is far worse. If you're looking to return to that childlike feeling of wonder when you got cough syrup and you were wondering "what is this poison?" you will doubtlessly find much to admire here. I am also told people who enjoy mango sodas dig this, but you know how it goes. Tomato, vile.
I will say it was much fizzier than anything else I've bought in recent memory - fountain sodas, canned sodas, bottled sodas - and I really appreciate that. Most of what I've found lately has been incredibly flat and in some cases a little bland, and this is neither of those things. I don't like it, but at least it's trying to do something. I'd say keep the $2 and blow it on Hot Wheels or a lottery ticket, but you do you. I wouldn't listen to me either, I had to try it.
Star Wars Review: Reva (Third Sister, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Reva (Third Sister, The Vintage Collection). She turned out great! The lightsaber is a little weird, but the articulation is excellent and unlike the Retro figure, she has great eyebrows. Read the whole review.
Via Max Toy Company: Longmire Family Fund custom toy show Sat 8/20/22. Toy fan, designer, customizer, and penpal of me Seth Longmire and his family have been going through some real health problems for a while - and as you know, health care isn't cheap. There's a big show with customs going for sale this weekend which you can buy to support him and his family, or just buy because they look cool. Either way, it's very helpful.
You can also donate to the Longmire Family Fund Gofundme page and kick in a few bucks, anonymously or otherwise. If you have five bucks, they could really use it. (Or more, more is good.)
Review: Fisher-Price Imaginext Series 12 Collectible Figures Explorer
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Gone but not forgotten! The Fisher-Price Imaginext Series 12 Collectible Figures Explorer is from a couple of years ago, as mystery bags (and Imaginext) seem to be going out of vogue. I got her for 75 cents! She was worth it. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Glyos News Dump: New and Old Releases. Healey Made put up 2 blank figures and re-posted several other painted figures for sale, so if you missed them, now's your chance. Meanwhile, Toy Finity put up a ton of glow in the dark blue and green figures - get them while you can!
If you missed the Assassin (Trando) like I did earlier this year, now's your chance!
Via Max Toy Co.: Longmire Family Fund custom toy show Sat 8/20/22. Friend of the site (and toys everywhere) Seth Longmire has been supporting his family through some tough times, and there's a toy sale where you can buy some custom one-of-a-kind figures to support him! Many sold out, but a few are still available.

Review: Hasbro Transformers Studio Series 86 Dinobot Sludge
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
New! The Hasbro Transformers Studio Series 86 Dinobot Sludge is a great remake, but it's still not one that's necessarily definitive. They could still make a cartoony yellow Sludge, or a Sludge with clear and shiny metalized gold parts to mimic the toy - this is a great compromise, though, but I wouldn't be shocked to see new, more specific takes on the Autobot a few years down the road. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via AtariAge: Lode Runner for Atari 2600. A demo ROM and a physical boxed cartridge are in the works, and it looks pretty cool.
Back in the 1980s this game was ported to nearly everything - and in subsequent generations, too. I've got Xbox 360 and Famicom ports myself, and they're fun (if challenging) games that keep pulling people back for a reason. This version boasts 150 levels in 11kb - which sounds impossible, but people still do amazing things with old hardware. Be sure to check out the link for more screenshots and box art. The game is expected to be sold in October at Portland Retro Gaming Expo, and online in November.

A celebration! The Onell Design Glyos Pheyden Quidnecim is an anniversary celebration with gold and silver and it looks sharp. I hope you got one last month when he debuted. While there are a few figures from his wave available, he's sold through. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
This week's batch of titles on the eShop: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC, Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 3: La Pucelle: Ragnarok / Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, and over a dozen more.
Via my pal Phil (and Amazon): Fisher-Price Imaginext DC Super Friends, Advent Calendar. This is neat - Captain Cold is joined by holiday-ish Swamp Thing, Batman, Batgirl, The Riddler, Batgirl, and more with tons of accessories. It's a pretty nice line-up.
It's $42.99 right now, and if you figure figures these days are about $4 per, it's not cheap. But you do get a small vehicle, lots of shoes, projectile launchers, and an ice chunk - all of which you'll probably recognize from many existing figure sets.

Via Limited Run Games, Atari, etc.: Super Breakout Limited Edition (Atari) and Warlords Limited Edition (Atari) are going on sale today at 12:00 PM Eastern. Each game is $99.99 and includes a fancy box, an acrylic cartridge stand, a stand, and some stickers. The cartridge itself boasts a light-up sign on the top.
It's a series of 10 games being distributed by various companies for Atari, and these are #3 and #4.
A sealed, graded copy of Super Breakout can be had for $154 - but an ungraded sealed copy can be had for under $20 shipped. A new-in-box sealed Warlords can also be had for $20-$30 without too much fuss, without the fancy packaging or extras. If your local retro game shop is willing to carry Atari cartridges, there is a good chance they will pay you to take them away. While arguably not the most exciting reissue cartridges that could be delivered unto you, it's a neat proof-of-concept and another fine example of history repeating itself. Rhino Records made reissues of old albums available in its mail-order catalog in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Numerous toy companies have reissued old action figures for collectors since at least the 1990s, and some old toys are just kept in circulation forever. With any luck more first-party publishers will get in on the action and we'll see Sony re-press old PlayStation CDs and Nintendo will finally conquer the world by making reissue Pokemon cartridges. (If Nintendo ever announces a Game Boy cartridge reissue program, I am investing in Nintendo.)
Star Wars Review: Grogu (& Ahsoka Tano, The Vintage Collection Deluxe)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Grogu (& Ahsoka Tano, The Vintage Collection Deluxe). "Grogu, his arms wide" sounds like a Tamarian metaphor, but it's just a Walmart exclusive accessory with a jointed head and not much else. It's great in the context of the set. Read the whole review.
Via SMKWorkshop: Super Mario Kart Deluxe. New karts, tracks, and modes are being added to what appears to be a pretty extensive add-on to the original Super NES Kart Racing game. Will it be C&Ded? I don't know, but I do know I wasn't expected to be that it just turned 30.
No specific release date was given, but if nothing else it's neat to see the progress of a project that I hope comes to be. Soon. To play it you'll probably want an Everdrive (or equivalent) to run on original hardware, or whatever the MiSTer, emulator, or other means to play this kind of thing you may need. As far as everybody knows for now, Nintendo has yet to officially support the production of any new game cartridges.
