|
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: C-3PO (& Babu Frik, The Black Series 6-Inch). It's a decent upgrade with good accessories at a surprisingly fair price, especially when compared to deco-only exclusives in 2019. Read the whole review.

Analogue Mega Sg Adapters Launch, Sell Out
|
Via Analogue: Mega Sg Cartridge Adapter Set $49.99. I was originally pretty excited at the prospect, but they also sold out pretty much immediately - rendering the seemingly high price point moot.
New pre-orders for their "DAC" to output to CRT SD TVs and RGB monitors are also up - so you might want in on that.

Dino-Riders Comes Back Minus Dinosaur Toys
|
Via ToyArk: MV Studios Partners with MFA Collectibles for UK Dino-Riders License. What does that even mean? The press release says their products "will be split into three lines. The first will be a 1/10 Dinosaur & Rider series, the second will be a 1/6 single character series and the third will be a 1/10 Diorama series based on some of the incredible artwork used on the original line."
It's a start. The Dino-Riders trademark was on a few Hot Wheels cars recently, but the classic Tyco toy line has been oddly out of public view for decades - I can't say I'm remotely interested in statues of the humans, but like any license you have to start somewhere.

Orange Island Pre-Orders for NES
|
Via Fangamer: Second chance to pre-order Orange Island. This is a nifty, colorful game that looks like a a seaside pastel Legacy of the Wizard game, but not. Cartridges soundtracks, and other goodies are up for pre-order.
The most inexpensive cartridge-with-box is £45, which oddly does not include the ROM for your PC. For £100 you can get a level with dang near everything - box, coins, manuals, vinyl soundtrack LP, ROM, you name it. In theory this game will ship in the first half of 2020.

New Game - Insane Pain for Sega Genesis & Mega Drive
|
Via Blast Process Games: Insane Pain in development for Sega's 16-bit consoles. It looks rough, and the site is asking for 2D and 3D artists to work on a cartridge-to-be with pre-rendered graphics not unlike Killer Instinct and Donkey Kong Country.
There are no timetables, prices, or really much else beyond some early art but it's worth highlighting for later.

New for NES - Kickstarter for Eyra the Crow Maiden
|
Via Kickstarter: Eyra the Crow Maiden: A new adventure for the Nintendo (NES).
These are the same devs who made Family Picross (and delivered it) so they have a decent track record - but one of their stretch goals is a Sega Genesis port, which is a heck of a stretch goal. Two of their three previous titles have shipped, with the third being due later in 2020 - so that isn't bad.

Toy Fair 2020: Super7, FAO, DC Direct
|
The coverage begins! We posted Galactic Hunter's Star Wars Coverage over the weekend, and now it's on to everything else.
We've got Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ReAction Figures from Super7. A couple of waves, and it starts to get in to the alternate outfits from the 1980s!
Super7 Transformers ReAction Figures! The Kenner style, but with Hasbro's cartoon characters. Waves 2 and 3 plus the jumbo Devastator figures were out on display.
Transformers Super Shogun Optimus Prime is a giant action figure with a launching fist and wheeled feet. Remember Shogun Warriors? It's like that.
FAO Schwarz Transformers is a glimpse at a large section of a toy store packed with more expensive and hard-to-find items, presented mostly as a curiosity. It's not particularly newsworthy, it's just neat.
DC Direct Artist's Alley brings back the company's old brand name, and some awesome style, to a series of really nifty statues.

Toy Fair 2020: Super7, Schylling, Diamond Select Toys, The Coop, Dark Horse, Mezco Toyz, Hasbro
|
The coverage continues! We're on the plane and trying to finish as much as we can before we land, because, really, we need a break from Toy Fair.
The Coop Handmade by Robots Vinyl Figures included two gorgeous NASA-inspired figures and the existing releases which, I hope, you bought by now. They look plush, but they're hard vinyl. It's an amazing way to screw with your head.
Dark Horse Video Game Stuff means you get to see Castlevania and StarCraft stuff. Life is good.
We've got TMNT and ThunderCats Ultimates from Super7. Also there are cardbacks for Jem in here, because it had to go somewhere.
Schylling Retro Toys! Retro robots, old toy remakes, and tons of cool items you'd give as gifts were seen here. Some of which we got pictures of, and some not. Well, that's life.
Mezco Toyz Action Figures I looked at and shot in a hurry. The Dr. Zaius, Alien, and Predator figures shook me to my very core - they're spectacular. And yes I asked if we were going to get the Sal Mineo Apestronaut. (No plans yet.) That's how the toy business work - show up when you see something cool, and if you're a fan, you show it by asking for something completely obscure and asinine. I'm very good at this.
Diamond Select Toys Lord of the Rings! Here's one I didn't see coming - build-a-Sauron and wonderful new takes on Gimli and characters who are not Gimli.
Jakks Pacific Toys included the Mario toy to end all Mario toys in its Super Mario toys as well as a great smattering of Sonic the Hedgehog alongside newcomers Gigantosaurus and The Last Kids on Earth.
Hasbro - Transformers Siege got interesting-er. A series of Netflix-show-based-figures, so far all of which are repaints, with some amazing paint jobs and a couple of new characters. I hope you're saving up for these, they're Walmart exclusives.
Hasbro - Transformers Earthrise is our biggest gallery because of Scorponok and a bazillion new figures for the rest of the year. If you haven't seen these, see the Quintesson Judge, Arcee, Fasttrack, and others right now.
Hasbro - Transformers Cyberverse adds a lot of new characters and new interpretations of classic characters in this format. Worth a look.
Hasbro - Marvel brings you everything you could possibly want, except for the stuff I couldn't shoot because a bunch of FOOM were in the way. Well, that is to be expected given the awesome 1990s retro Spider-Man figures, Maximum Venom, X-Men Movie, and other figures.
Hasbro - G.I. Joe gives you the 6-inch figures you crave.
Hasbro - Ghostbusters brings in 6-inch action figures and prop replicas in the impressive Plasma Collection alongside a brand-new kid's line that you gotta see. If you grew up on Kenner's The Real Ghostbusters toys, this new range should give you warm fuzzies as you unknowingly fork over all your money to buy it for your kids. It's really cool.
Hasbro - Beyblade is a thing I know is popular but not much else. So here it is.
Hasbro - Disney expands on Mulan and the Style Series dolls.
Hasbro - The Rest shows you Tiger Electronics LCD games, Power Rangers, and a logo or two.

More NES on Kickstarter - Trophy
|
Via Kickstarter: Trophy - A Brand-New Action Platformer for the Original NES! It looks and sounds a bit like Mega Man, and yes I backed it already. The game is supposedly done, they've done games before, and there's a June ETA.
I assume this means August or later, but at least it looks neat. It boasts running on MMC3. It has nine levels. Also passwords!

The Stooges Fun House Gets Ridiculous Boxed Set
|
Via Rhino Records: The Stooges Fun House 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition. A 7-CD boxed set was sold through Rhino Handmade about 20 years ago. It's 15 LPs of pretty much every take and false start and every track recorded for The Stooges' second album, Fun House. If your old man liked their first album, this is the one that was too noisy. It's great - but it's a lot to slog through with your ears, unless you really want to hear the same thing over and over.
Limited to 1,970 sets, it'll probably sell out before its July release. I want one. But it's $400, so I probably won't get the set of 15 LPs, 2 7-inch singles, and all the books and other goodies in here.
