Aquabats, They Might Be Giants Appeal to Aging Fans' Senses of Nostalgia
Two big stories today for the music nerds of the 1990s: Join Forces & Be Part of The AQUABATS! Super Kickstarter! They're reviving the show and doing some releases of their TV program as well as songs from said TV program - with an option for new episodes. They want $1,110,000 and so far they've got a surprisingly decent chunk of that. There are DVDs, Blu-Rays, and T-Shirts but not vinyl records or toys.
Also exciting: Lincoln 30th Anniversary Vinyl Re-issue. The red vinyl record is due around October, and it has a download code. It'll be $22 direct, and presumably similarly priced elsewhere. No word yet on a reissue of the first album or the most excellent early collection of b-sides, "Miscellaneous T."

There was this wrestling thing called Kaiju Big Battel, where you had American and Japanese and other fans make costumes and fight or wrestle in familiar and not so familiar personae. (Yes, that's Pheyden.) The designs are pretty awesome, and the price per figure is not terible - $2-$3 per figure, depending on the tier you choose. It's about halfway funded with a month to go.

We've long expected we would never see another release in this line since October Toys shut down. Series 5 disappeared. But now? Mini Figure Militia's OMFG Series 3 with Zombie Pheyden Oozarian Exclusive exists. Six figures (including Zombie Pheyden) are in a bag for $12, and were released over the weekend. I had no idea this was happening.
Toy marketing is difficult in an era without Saturday mornings, comic book ads for kids, and of course endless syndicated TV dumps. So this is, to say the least, interesting.

Aquabats Restarts Kickstarter, Passes Goal, Album Coming
Originally set to end this week, it rebooted: Bring Back THE AQUABATS! This one makes a lot more sense - a $100,000 goal exists for a new album, with new TV show episodes at $250,000. Previously they were asking for $1 million for pretty much anything. They've already met their initial goal for the album and mini-episodes, and fans of vinyl should note that it's a whopping $45 add-on.
