New GameBoy Color Backlit Screen Option?

This is a pretty big deal. It's a new backlit color screen with a good refresh rate with no blur and supposedly plops in with minimal shell modifications and zero soldering. There may be some need for a custom bezel, but it's looking impressive and I want one. It's a lot better than the Worm Light I was using 20 years ago. A review is threatened soon - and it's set for mass production, and if it truly is a drop-in option where all you need is a cheap tri-wing screwdriver it's - if you'll forgive the pun - a real game-changer.

  Via TFW2005: New Siege Reveals & More at Wonder Festival Ð Jetfire, Star Convoy, Armada Prime and More!
Star Convoy looks like Power of the Primes Optimus Prime with a new big robot head and a new "trailer" mode - the inner robot in the chest looks similar to the original release. Armada Optimus Prime is a new mold, and Snakas took some pictures that seem to confirm a possible super mode. The battle pants have yet to be unveiled, and there's no word on if a US release of either toy is coming.
There are a ton of reveals coming up at New York Toy Fair, so stay tuned for more of that over the weekend and into next week.

Toy Fair 2019: Hasbro and the Outer Space Men

 The coverage begins! Check out some of what we've seen so far
We've got The Outer Space Men! We went on a road trip to see these new samples - and they're really nice. A pink clear glitter Orbitron stole the show, but there was no show to speak of - I just got to talk with the creators/owners and get a look at what they have planned. At this time there are no known plans for more Glyos-compatible figures from this crew, but a 12-inch follow-up to Orbitron is in the works.
60th Anniversary Good Luck Trolls! These are colorful and have the naked butts you crave. If you liked Guy Diamond, these are where the idea of nudist hairy creatures first appealed to kids and moms the world over. The movie line will also continue, but let's get down to brass tacks - these are exciting.
Marvel Legends are looking well with Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster and tons of other new figures that aren't Jeff Goldblum. You should check them out.
Hasbro also showed a limited number of Spider-Man: Far From Home toys and figures. Masks, shooters, jets, you know. Typical Peter Parker things.
And at Galactic Hunter: Star Wars toys and figures. Not a lot new, but enough that you will want to go see it.

Kickstarter - New 1:12 Military Action Figures

  Via Kickstarter: Army Alphas. They're a lot like Marvel Legends-style figures, and about $25 a pop.
Expected availability is May 2020, and generally one should add 6-8 months to a Kickstarter because you never know which ones will be on time, early, or very late. Cryptid Toys has some other nifty items - including blanks - coming along nicely, and are worth checking out.

Hyperkin's UltraBoy GameBoy Clone Still Happening

  Via Instagram: Hyperkin confirms Ultra GameBoy still in development! I asked! The quotes:

hyperkin: @adam16bit Yes! It is still in development. Stay tuned for more announcements about our upcoming products.
I'll take it. An early prototype looked like a barely-changed GameBoy Pocket at CES 2018, with a revised prototype (pictured, pilfered from Neowin) and E3 2018. And since then, we've seen and heard nothing official... but this is pretty official.
As of right now, there aren't many mass-produced GameBoy clones on the market. The cheapest and most ubiquitous in Asia is Kongfeng's GB Boy Colour - a pretty good gadget for under $40. I've heard good things about the REVO K101 Plus, which only plays GameBoy Advance cartridges.

I stumbled on their Messenger/Cliff Notes 7" record on a recent business trip, and then realized I missed Chunklet's Part Time Punks Session record. So if you liked Chomp, Chain, or Gyrate, go ahead and get one of the bands that made the Athens music scene a thing back in the late 1970s and early 1980s. You'll be glad you did.

Hopefully the Mechazone crew can be entreated to sell this pilot by its lonesome? Either way, you can get a mini Epsilon with the pilot for a mere $22. It's probably more than worth it - I paid a sum for the big version and did not regret it.
