Star Wars Review: Sabine Wren (The Vintage Collection)
|
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Sabine Wren (The Vintage Collection). This figure has a bunch of accessories, but at a $11 premium over a standard figure. While she did not get widespread distribution, some of the stores that got her still have her around and some have reported clearance prices - so keep hunting and keep scanning if you haven't picked one up yet. She's great for a $17 or under figure, but at $28 you may be asking if the additional deco, the Lothcat, or the other gear are worth the extra credits. Read the whole review.

Classic Review: LEGO The LEGO Movie 2 70841 Benny's Space Squad Set
|
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted five years ago today! The LEGO The LEGO Movie 2 70841 Benny's Space Squad Set was ten bucks for four figures and a couple of mini vehicle builds - what now qualifies as "the good old days." New Space sets are in stores now, inspired by (but not direct copies of) these classic LEGO astronauts - so I assume you'll still want this one. Read on!
Come back tomorrow for an all-new review!

Star Wars Review: Sabine Wren (The Retro Collection)
|
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Sabine Wren (The Retro Collection). We looked at the $28 Vintage figure last week, and this $12 Retro figure isn't as fancy - but it's a satisfying release with lots of accessories. Read the whole review.

Three Hours of Dr. Johnny Fever from WKRP
|
Via Aw Phooey!: Sheena's Jungle Room Guest DJ: Dr. Johnny Fever. You get three hours of actual WKRP In Cincinnati clips used as connective tissue for a treasure trove of the kind of stuff you/your parents/maybe your grandparents listened to on the radio I was tickled to hear Captain Beefheart make an appearance. They put it as such:
"What if you took EVERY DJ break Howard Hesseman ever made, as Dr. Johnny Fever (WKRP in Cincinnati), and just ...followed his lead?
Would it be possible to construct a three hour radio show, with Fever as host?"
WKRP In Cincinnati was a popular TV sitcom set at a radio station, and the show featured actual licensed music during its original run. I'm listening to this now and am almost done with it, I assume anyone old enough to remember the show will be delighted by it and to anybody else, it's like some weird lost archival air check tape. In a world of clever fan edits, I'm amazed I hadn't seen something like this before. Sure, the newest song on here is over 40 years old, but that's what makes it a pretty solid time capsule.

Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
New, but oddly, possibly at Ross for close to full retail! This NECA Toony Terrors Svengoolie Action Figure is something you either know you need or will never, ever understand. He's a horror host, and if you watch the show? You want this. If you haven't? There's no hope for you, watch the show. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

Majyuo: King of Demons Coming to Super NES
|
Via Retro-Bit: JOURNEY INTO THE DEMON WORLD TO SAVE YOUR FAMILY. They call the game Majyuo: King of Demons, but in your ROM set it's probably "Majuu Ou," and it has a little bit of text in an arcade-style game (at least for the few levels I've played) where you start off as some guy and gradually monster-ify as you go. It is a famously rare title, and you probably don't have it. This is its first English release.
Stretch goals include a massive sword and Space Bridge-themed display stands. Funding ends March 14, so you have plenty of time to decide if this slightly larger version of the 2001 toys (that is cheaper than the last reissue) is for you. In terms of pricing, it offers much more bang for the buck than previous items at a price that's not terribly hard to swallow. Expect it to be released in Fall 2025.

Classic Review: Lanard Primal Clash Mammoth with Shrapnel Action Figure
|
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted five years ago today! The Lanard Primal Clash Mammoth with Shrapnel Action Figure has been living on my printer since I got it, which is arguably not a good place for it. But it's a cool toy, and looks awesome, and apparently I have to keep it nearby. Read on!

Review: Mattel Jurassic World Legacy Collection Dr. Sarah Harding & Stegosaurus Action Figures
|
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Old! This Mattel Jurassic World Legacy Collection Dr. Sarah Harding & Stegosaurus Action Figures was on ultra-clearance a couple of months ago, and $12 was too low to skip two dinosaurs and Julianne Moore. The big stego was a redeco of a wave 1 mold from when Mattel first got the license - but it's nicely painted. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted ten years ago today! The Hasbro Transformers Generations Armada Starscream got a new, bigger update last year - so we're still doing updates of updates, but this was a clever one. The Mini-Con was dropped, but you got two swords and a comic for $15. It wasn't bad. Read on!

New Onell Design Glyos Drop Thursday

Star Wars Review: R4-Series Astromech Droid Black with Silver
|
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R4-Series Astromech Droid Black with Silver. It's also not too expensive on eBay if you can find it. Read the whole review.

New Onell Design Glyos Drop Delayed, Now Tonight
|
Via the Glyos News Dump: New Glyos Drop: Interdimensional Intruders FRIDAY at 9:30 PM Eastern.
That's tonight! It was last night, but delayed. I saw some figures were launched and yanked - Glyan Glyorian, SE Qualigru, and Glyan Metallore Commando were allegedly briefly posted to the store and yanked. They were magenta, and purple, with some cyan mixed in. Presumably more in those colors will go live in a few hours.

Hasbro Transformers Legacy United Core Energon Universe Megatron Action Figure
|
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
New! The Hasbro Transformers Legacy United Core Energon Universe Megatron Action Figure is in stores now and a nice little figure - but kind of a lumpy space jet. It is not as impressive as the Leader-class toy from 20 years ago, but it's still neat. He's got the tank cannon arm blaster and the green cannons on his shoulders are now removable and can be used as hand blasters. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

Star Wars Review: Sabine Wren (Epic Hero Series)
|
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Sabine Wren (Epic Hero Series). This is the one that you might actually find in a store near you, and she has a decent array of gear - but no blasters. She is a deluxe release, so they're charging more for her (backpack, shield) but it's still a pretty nice figure and feels like a durable toy. Read the whole review.
