Via YouTube and Spoony Bard Productions.: Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl - Gameplay Reveal Trailer! There isn't a ton of gameplay here - and no music. But it's the first big reveal of it as an actual thing. The game was apparently teased in mid July but nobody seemed to pick up on it - and pre-orders are up in a few places too.
If you want to see actual game footage with audio, check out this tweet. Fans of Mighty Final Fight and Double Dragon may be interested in this one.
Via Atari Gamer: Atari Lynx 30th Birthday Programming Competition. Final submissions have passed, but there will be ROMs and there are prizes! With new screens and SD cartridges, there's reason to pick up or fix up a Lynx lately.
Along with the Sega Genesis, GameBoy, and TurboGrafx-16, 1989 brought us the Lynx and a ton of great games for nearly every platform of the day. It's almost like there's too much to celebrate!

It's supposedly shipping in September so get those GameBoys ready, or finish those mods, or just get a Super GameBoy for five bucks and call it a day.

This week's batch of titles on the eShop: Super Kirby Clash, Arcade Archives Pinball, River City Girls, and several dozen others.
Nintendo Switch Online added 20 Super NES games, some good and some less good. Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Super Metroid are obligatory. Demon's Crest is an inspired choice. Super Tennis is sort of confusing - I remember those being available for next to nothing at the end of the Super NES retail run.
Via Limited Run Games: Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl (NES) [PREORDER]! The basic cartridge in grey, yellow, and green are up as is a limited edition version that probably sold out. The boxed game is a pretty standard $54.99.
This may well be the first new retro game since the end of the NES to feature licensed characters. There's very little about the actual game out there, the developer pointed me to a Twitch stream from late last week that shows people playing the game.
I'm unsure if I'll order it or not yet, as curiosity and FOMO is up against logic and reason. I loved Micro Mages and Nebs N Debs, but my luck with licensed games has been mixed. For every TMNT II you get Star Wars. And sometimes you get weirdness like The Goonies and The Goonies II, which are wonderful life-changing experiences. This looks a lot like Mighty Final Fight or River City Ransom.

Siege Nemesis Prime a Thing, No Known US Release Yet
Via Takara-Tomy: Siege Nemesis Prime. It's unfortunately gorgeous. It also has a red sword from the Lio Convoy/Alpha Trion mold, without any of the battle damage we've been getting on US releases. I do not know yet if it will be distributed outside Japan - but I'm watching online stores.
Via Analogue: Say Hello to Analogue DAC! This lets you connect your Mega Sg or Super NT to CRT and PVM screens. In short, it lets you play old games on old TVs, but with the new features - like Jailbroken consoles, the better sound chips, and so forth. Super NES games can easily and cheaply by connected to a CRT TV via existing cheap cables, but the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive require pricey mods for superior analog SD video - so this is for a very specific kind of Sega fan first and foremost. And remember, it's only an adapter - games and hardware sold separately.
Intriguing: "Pair DAC with Mega Sg or Super Nt for the complete experience in HD and Analog. Future Analogue products will support DAC too." I assume this means new NES or GameBoy-compatible hardware.
The gizmo is $80. I am presently on the fence leaning toward no, but if there's a new Analogue NES system or a good GameBoy Advance player I might snag it. If none of this makes sense to you, basically this is the video game equivalent of audiophile hardware and new production of old hardware, of sorts, provided you have the proper screen.
What this means remains to be seen - a daily calendar? Old content in color? New comics for the first time in over 20 years? The page was spotted Sunday and it's hard to know what might come of this.

Via YouTube: Battle at Big Rock | An All-New Short Film | Jurassic World. This is interesting - it's about 9 minutes with credit scenes of a post-Fallen Kingdom world with wild dinosaurs menacing a family on a camping trip. It would've been an awesome bonus short in the theaters.
It's sort of neat as a franchise extender, like those short Marvel movie things. It doesn't add much new other than some flavor to what wild dinosaurs could be like, but you could have easily told this same story with an escaped lion from a zoo. Still - it was really kinda cool and a good way to keep people interested (and sell some toys) between movies. After all, it has only been a year since the last film - it just feels like several.
Via nyctaper: Guerilla Toss: October 31, 2018 Market Hotel. Like Southern Shelter before it, nyctaper is loaded with recordings of awesome live shows - including last year's Guerilla Toss Halloween show. It's an hour and twenty minutes, and it's a decent recording with vocalist Kassie Carlson mixed a little quiet.
If you've never heard them before, they're a weird and awesome act - plus you get covers from the Velvet Underground and Eno in there. It's a good one.

Via Kickstarter: Beasts of the Mesozoic: Ceratopsian Series Action Figures. It's already 33% funded after a few hours, so it'll probably be just fine. For the curious, the Creative Beast Monoclonius is a bit bigger than Tyco's Dino-Riders and Smithsonian Institution series animals.
I saw the prototypes for these at David Silva's booth during San Diego Comic-Con and they are gorgeous. Also expensive. The Kickstarter Exclusive Monoclonius is $50, but it's a hefty beast. Most exciting, perhaps, is that they got Dino-Riders packaging painter Ezra Tucker to do some box art.
If you're on the fence, take note - Zuniceratops is a smidgen smaller and significantly cheaper than the bigger trio. Zuniceratops is only $25... which is right about perfect if you just want one to hang out with your other toys.
Exclusive to Europe, Dragon Box Shop will be selling a clear blue cartridge in their Limited Edition.
A cheaper standard edition with a black cartridge will be sold everywhere. It's significantly cheaper but lacks the pin, certificate, poster, and collector's figure - arguably the real selling point.

Jon Karis sent along early samples and they're beautiful - and surprisingly cheap. You'll want to bookmark this for next week. We'll slot the review in as soon as possible - but just know the blue glow does last overnight if properly charged by the sun or a UV light, so get them.
Via me: Entertainment Earth Presents New Toys, Action Figures, and More with Adam Pawlus! If you're in New York for New York Comic Con next week, I would love to see you stop by. My panel is Saturday, October 5 at 6:30 PM. It's in room 1C03 at the Jacob J. Javits Convention Center, which is also where they have Toy Fair every year. I haven't been to NYCC since 2011, and I hear it got a lot bigger since then.
At San Diego Comic-Con we revealed news from Hasbro, previously unseen Funko exclusives, tons of Monogram blind bag collectibles, new vinyl figures, action figures and license announcements from Super7, and a bunch of stuff that didn't make the cut due to time and deadlines. We had a couple hundred people in the audience and handed out goodie bags. Due to space concerns, while there may be freebies in New York, there will not be big bags of freebies. Bring your own bags, just to be safe.
Many of those same companies are involved for the NYCC show, plus some new ones. I'm still scraping together the final information together, because I have less than 10 business days to finalize the presentation and get it down so I can give it. If you owe me pictures, consider this a guilt trip. It should be a great show.
Of course, the new beasts sold out immediately - three new Armorvor heads were shown, plus an add-on set. As I write this, the add-on set is still available.

the Torosaurus and Triceratops adult are hefty $130 beasts. But oh so pretty.

In short, Hasbro is taking a shot at "third party" ammo - foam darts and Rival rounds from unauthorized manufacturers have been around for years. With the new Ultra Blasters, they're patenting a new kind of material that may be tougher to clone. This could negate the long-term desirability of weapons once ammo runs out/ages/crumbles with time.

It is worth noting that we have no skin in this game, other than the history of crowdfunded game consoles has been poor. These are consumer appliances that require millions if not billions of dollars of marketing might to succeed, and the only reason any of these should be hard to get is because they're too dang popular. In this case the system hasn't had any specific updates in months and there has been no real specific software support of note.
I'm all for collecting game hardware for any of a number of reasons. I've also seen more than one Ouya at Goodwill. I hope Atari's box comes out and knocks everybody's socks off... and also adds a cartridge slot, because that's my favorite kind of thing to have.
I got mine early - thanks Jon! - and they're completely spectacular. They're a cheap set of glow figures, both blue and green. Given the right charging in the sun or UV light, the blue glow can last overnight.
