Since being purchased by Toys R Us, this location is, pretty much, a fancier Toys R Us without the usual level of mass-market glitz. I made it a point to stop there during Toy Fair if there's time between meetings and dinners, usually to snag some Playmobil or (more generally) to find out it closed around 7 PM and I get to walk back in the snow empty-handed. Such is the way of things. The store may reopen, so says the article, but it's not like TRU has done much with the Kay-Bee or eToys brand names it owns lately.

What's particularly depressing is that even though this was effectively a reskinned TRU, it also means that yet another toy store from the 20th Century has (temporarily?) bit the dust. Kay-Bee, ToyCo, Lionel PlayWorld, eToys, Zany Brainy, and numerous other stores regional and national are all gone.
