Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
He's big! This Hasbro Marvel Legends 375 Loki Action Figure has no accessories of his own, but he can borrow other similarly sized axes and blasters and holds them like a champ. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Glyos News Dump: Healey Made Trooper (Bulloch) On Sale Now. This is the first painted version of the 3 3/4-inch figure, and it's $25.00 and unlike previous figures, this one is the first painted debut in a Star Wars-inspired colorway.
He sold out within a few hours, but not to worry - I got one. But in all seriousness, you may want to set an alarm for whenever the next one hits, and I'll review it as soon as possible so you can get an idea of which color(s) you'll want to pick up if and when they come to pass. I'm really hoping for a yellow Secto-Viper inspired colorway!
Blue The Outer Space Men Jack Asteroid and Maximilian Gravity, $15
Via the Outer Space Men News Blog: The Outer Space Men Maximilian Gravity and Jack Asteroid Bluestar Figures On Sale at $15. That ain't bad. Back in 2010, The Outer Space Men were $10 a pop - adjusted for inflation in 2023, that's about $13.65. If you don't have any of those characters, or just want blue glow figures, it's probably as good as you're going to get.
Classic Review: Mattel Masters of the Universe Classics Cy-Chop from 2013
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted 10 years ago today! The Mattel Masters of the Universe Classics Cy-Chop was one of many new, fan-created figures that people groused about. Which is a pity, it's a really cool design and the entire series of these guys were all pretty spectacular... even if some (Sir Laser-Lot) were a little goofy. Cy-Chop has scissor hands, a clear chest, and a swell silver head. And for some reason, furry blue legs. Read on, it's a good one - and come back tomorrow for an all-new review!

Review: Hasbro Transformers Legacy Voyager Armada Universe Starscream Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Game Boy Magritte-Inspired Empire of Dreams, Last Chance for Shantae
Via rembrandx: The Empire of Dreams. It's a point-and-click game with nice graphics and comes in a .pocket or .gb file, and the whole thing is $2.00 (cheap.)
No cartridge is yet available but it looked so neat, I had to link it here.
Also notable, Limited Run Games restocked Shantae for Game Boy Color for $44.99. They also restocked a bunch of other stuff if you're so inclined for numerous older consoles. I'm not saying you need Amazing Penguin - my old copy is criminally underplayed after having it for over 30 years - but hey, it's $34.99 if you want it. StarHawk, Metal Masters, and Spanky's Quest are also available. To put $34.99 in perspective, a $20 cartridge in 1990 would be about $45 today. It's a pretty good deal for a boxed, sealed game but you may be able to find some cheap cart-only originals out there.
Star Wars Review: Mandalorian Super Commando (The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Mandalorian Super Commando (The Vintage Collection). A previous figure mold has returned, with new detail and one heck of a big blaster. You may not need more 6-inch Mandalorians, but can you ever have enough different 3 3/4-inch ones? I sure can't. Read the whole review.
Review: Schaper Playmobil 3591 Space Series Astronaut and Robot Figures
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
They're 40 years old! I just got this Schaper Playmobil 3591 Space Series Astronaut and Robot Figures and promptly opened it - the stickers were unapplied, so it was in excellent condition despite being an open box. Want to see a cool fake R2-D2? Of course you do. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Glyos News Dump: New Warlords of Wor Friday January 6! Set your alarms for 9:00 PM Eastern for undetermined plastic action that may or may not be inspired by certain Eternians.
Star Wars Review: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Wandering Jedi, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Wandering Jedi, The Vintage Collection). You get a lot of stuff - two micro droids, a blaster, two lightsaber pieces, a cloak - but the head is a smidgen off, and I really hate that mid-torso joint. Arguably, you get your money's worth in this price increase world but wouldn't it be better to have a slightly simpler figure at a lower price? Read the whole review.

Classic Review: October Toys Outlandish Mini Figure Guys (OMFG) Series 2 Minifigures from 2013
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted 10 years ago today! The October Toys Outlandish Mini Figure Guys (OMFG) Series 2 Minifigures were a freaking classic - it's sad that the concept of designer figures, voted on in a toy forum and funded on Kickstarter, didn't keep going. They're cute, fun, and democratized the whole "urban vinyl" toy fad while also making it completely affordable. Ten bucks for five little guys seemed like a steal back then - I can't imagine they could run them this cheaply today. Read on, it's a good one - and come back tomorrow for an all-new review!

Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: NED-B (The Black Series). He's got a lot of painted detail, he's really big, and he's kind of expensive. But you get a hammer and a blaster! He's still $8 more than a normal figure, but is he good at any price? Read the whole review.
Via the Glyos News Dump: Spaced Out New Drop - Dark Deception Friday! Set your alarms for 9:00 PM Eastern on Friday the 13th for this blood-red Geodraxus. I assume, I don't know what the final name is yet.
Plastic Meatball Labyrinth In Stock Already, Cheap
Via Plastic Meatball: Labyrinthª "Jareth (Throne Room)" Figure plus Sarah (and the Worm) and Hoggle are in stock. They're retro-ish 3 3/4-inch figures for a surprisingly reasonable - stunningly reasonable for a small company's licensed 3 3/4-inch efforts - $14.99 each.
The current winner for the cheapest retro guys in town is Hasbro, and depending on where you shop (and which line) they're $9.99-$14.99, give or take a sale. It's probably also the only retro Bowie you'll be getting in this scale any time soon, which is a pity, because pretty much any 70s look would look pretty cool in a retro playset.
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Newish! I just got this Onell Design Glyos Alien Aberration Kaisyriax Action Figure a couple of weeks ago and let me tell you, it's a keeper. The figure takes an existing mold and ads new arms, a new head, and a new configuration to make what seems to be a huge, wholly new figure. These guys do amazing work - and the item, of course, sold out. Be sure you get the next newly recolored release. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
If it looks familiar, this $19.99 paddle was designed to mimic the old and now very expensive Hori Game Boy Player controller. There are no samples or reviews out there yet, but Retro-Bit controller quality has gone up a lot in recent years so we have reason to be hopeful. Their licensed Sega controllers have been largely great.
Star Wars Review: The Mandalorian (The Rescue, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Mandalorian (The Rescue, The Vintage Collection). More of the same, but different, and at a premium price! This figure includes a lot of gear like Whistling Birds and a removable wrist rocket, and fire, and the Beskar spear. And a pistol. It's probably the most fleshed-out Mando yet, but he's in an expensive boxed set. But he's probably the best. Read the whole review.

Day #2500! This Hasbro Marvel Legends 375 Storm Action Figure continues our Marvel Mondays with a Mutant from the X-Men! She shares mostly the same parts as the other women in the line, but with a twist - this time it's Storm! Her costume is literally painted-on, which is as skin-tight as you can get, and her hair makes her more than a bit taller than many of her peers. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via Neodolphino Productions: Haraforce and Haratyler for NES are avvailable now. If you liked Haradius Zero, this is like that, but more so. Haratyler comes in three flavors, including audio expansion boards for your NES hardware.
I ordered one of each and am hoping it's going to be great - I liked the first one a lot.
Via the Glyos News Dump: Spaced Out Design Drops the Gradients and More. Four new figures are up including a pretty amazing looking blue-to-yellow gradient clear glitter number. It's $26, but it's pretty stunning.
It says snappier openFPGA access, improved monitor behavior, the Library is now added and can track which cartridges you play, and when, and for how long, and a lot more. I've had some dock/screen issues but moved to a screen that gives me less trouble, so I'm hoping there will continue to be a harmonious relationship with the version I'm downloading as I write this.

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: B2EMO (Droid Factory / Disney). It's basically a very good accessory for the price of a complete figure, but it's a droid, and it's a neat one that sold out online while I was sleeping. So naturally, you want one, probably. Read the whole review.
Review: Healey Made Trooper (Bulloch) Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
New, but looks old! I just got this Healey Made Trooper (Bulloch) Action Figure and it's great. The new head works with old figures too, and it seems like the kind of thing Kenner would make if Star Wars action figures continued without new movies in the 1980s. It sold out, and I suggest getting one (or a future repaint) if it is possible to do so. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
If you missed it, it was a very good show. It walked the line between caring about its audience and also not caring at all, which is right where you want your weird late-night television to sit. Thanks for the tip, Phil!
Star Wars Review: Grand Inquisitor (The Black Series)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Grand Inquisitor (The Black Series). It's a pretty good figure of a twerp of an interpretation of the character! The head isn't too perfect, but he has a nice cape, decent armor, and good articulation. The make-up doesn't quite match the series, and that make-up doesn't quite replicate the look of the species as seen previously. But it's available, you can buy it. Read the whole review.
Via CNN and others and my friend Shaun: America's largest party supply store files for bankruptcy . In the 1990s these guys were year-round Halloween titans with a massive section of costumes whenever you may want them, in addition to the normal party wares with hats and cake molds and balloons. With upstarts like Dollar Tree and Spirit eating chunks of their business, well, there you have it.
CNN reports: "The largest party goods and Halloween specialty retail chain in the United States said in a regulatory filing that it reached an agreement with debtholders to cut its $1.7 billion debt load. The company said it secured $150 million in financing that will allow it to keep its stores open and operations running. As of October, the Company had 761 total Party City (PRTY) stores and 149 temporary Halloween City stores. In 2021, Party City (PRTY) had more than 16,000 employees."
The chain also briefly flirted with a "Toy City" format, but not near here, so I can't tell you how it was before it went away.

He's nice! This Hasbro Marvel Legends 375 Moon Knight Action Figure has a swell weird blank head under his hood, and is actually a bit of fun - although a cloth cape might be even more fun. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

It's not as good as the last couple of Sludges! The Hasbro Transformers Legacy Evolution Core Dinobot Sludge Action Figure isn't even the best combining Sludge - but it's new, it's cheap, and it fits in your pocket. Is that worth anything to you? It could benefit from a bit more gear, but it's a combiner, and you're not getting a lot from the lower torso of what will some day be a $72 mini Volcanicus. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Migs Mayfeld (The Black Series). He's Bill Burr, but with lots of guns and a good recreation of his on-screen, The Mandalorian season one costume. I'd say buy it, and I'm cranky and old. Read the whole review.
Via the Glyos News Dump: The Quest for Lime Toy Pizza Drop Menu! Half of the figures sold out pretty much immediately - so get 'em if you can? I got the Frankenslice Crowkin.
Review: Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Cebbriac of the Voidrillion Command Orbitron Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Newish! I got this Outer Space Men Galactic Holiday Cebbriac of the Voidrillion Command Orbitron Action Figure last month, and I love these things. The 3 3/4-inch scale figure towers over your Star Wars and other guys with a big brain and a little bit of paint. He's still available if you want one, and if you don't have any of these guys I'd elbow you to pick up one and try them out. If you're paying $20 for a nice new retro figure, $25 for an indie one isn't a terrible deal. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Darth Maul (The Black Series). This is a pretty excellent figure - the facial expression is superb, the head spikes are spiky, the outfit is good, and the articulation is great. If you like this costume, this is a very good figure of it. Read the whole review.
Via CNBC: Hasbro warns of weak holiday quarter results, cuts 15% of its workforce. While the CEO Chris Cocks is still on board, President/COO Eric Nyman - a nice fellow who I may have traumatized so much upon meeting him over a decade ago that he still remembered me last year - was exiting the company according to Reuters. We will miss you Eric and also the 1,000 other people whose names we do not yet know.
Via AJJ on Bandcamp: Disposable Everything. The band formerly known as Andrew Jackson Jihad last LP was January 2020's eerily prescient "Good Luck, Everybody." This new one is due out May 26. Hopeless Records has a "Death Machine Variant" as I write this, and the chain Zia Records had an exclusive color last time. (The store and the band largely hail from Arizona.)
They have gone from cranky young folk duo to anxious middle-aged band. If you lived in the Valley of the Sun during this century and are younger than your early 40s, there's a chance you've seen these guys at Trunk Space or any of a number of venues over the years.
This week's batch of titles on the eShop: Capybara Madness, Arcade Archives TANK FORCE, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, and over a dozen more.
Review: Hasbro Marvel Legends 375 Carol Danvers Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
She's out of this world! This Hasbro Marvel Legends 375 Carol Danvers Action Figure continues our Marvel Mondays with someone Rogue could have been better to. She has no accessories, but has a swell sash and separately molded yellow hair - it's better than the old figures were! Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Glyos News Dump: ToyFinity January 29 2023 Drop Menu. Manglors start at $20, with the Standard version selling out (along with the Mordles) within a couple of hours. As I write this, you can still get the eggs and two flavors of Manglor. They're hefty fellows that should be big enough to menace Colossus Rex, Ggriptogg, and Cyclops (if you're into that.)
What's particularly interesting is that these seem like a decent execution of the idea. Originally they were these weird doughy figures that just turned to garbage if you try to rip them apart and put them back together, way back in the 1980s. This new execution allows you to mash them together with Glyos joints, which is a much more sensible idea.
I probably should've thrown in for a Primitive Manglor too, but hey, maybe I'll get the next flavor for the weird alternate builds.
A classic! I've written over 5,000 action figure reviews since 2006, so I'm going to toot my own horn with classic Figure of the Day.
Posted 10 years ago today! The Takara-Tomy Beast Saga Beast Machines Sky Darling Vehicle was something that, in hindsight, I could've skipped. I love Battle Beasts and I love micro scale things, but these little guys are just here. And they were expensive - it's not an unimpressive little toy but these were comparably priced to Voyager-class Transformers at the time. Size can matter, particularly when it's not terribly in-scale with the main figures of the line. If it opened up to fit the big guys, I think I'd be a lot happier about it. Instead I'm looking at this review and wondering "Should I dig this out and sell it?" Read on, it's a good one - and come back tomorrow for an all-new review!
