Transformers Cyber Battalion Coming to Universal Studios
|
Via eBay and elsewhere: Details about Hasbro Transformers Universal Studios Starscream Exclusive Ver. New and also Optimus Prime. If these look familiar, they should - I reviewed both of them recently, as they were sold in China and South America last year. Click here for Optimus' review, click here for Starscream.
The auctions show these toys with Universal Studios stickers on them, and so far only these two of the seven "cyber" figures have popped up. SRP was originally slated to be around $15 each, and importers were selling them for $15-$25. Knowing theme park mark-up, it's a safe bet that they won't be under $20. Keep an eye open for these when you make your gift shop visits on vacation!

New Devo - E-Z Vinyl, CD Reissue
|
Via Light in the Attic Records: DEVO EZ Listening Muzak Gatefold Version. CD and Vinyl versions are available.
If you have the original CD from Ryko, that has 19 tracks. This has 21 - two (I think) new-to-this-release release tracks include "Shout New Bonus Track" and "Human Rocket (Laughing Gas Version)", which is news to me. It's probably from a bootleg somewhere. These are due later this month. CDs are $23, LP is $35.

Check Ross - Thrilling 30 Showing Up for $6.99
|
I went on a big toy run yesterday, and Ross stores are getting 2014 Transformers Thrilling 30 toys for $6.99. I found Jhiaxus figures at 2 stores and a friend found a Crosscut. What will you find? Probably Jhiaxus or Crosscut... maybe Nightbeat or Windblade! Let us know if you see something cool.
Each figure has a comic and you can read my review of Jhiaxus here. May as well, what else are you going to do? Work?

Freezepop - Vinyl Tier on Kickstarter
|
Via Kickstarter: Freezepop's New Album! The CD, digital release, and vinyl versions are all funded. The CD is $20, the LP is $30.
Stretch goals are also now live - a bonus album plus a bonus track with a former band member kicks in at $40,000 and a remix album at $50,000. I'm happy to get the record, anything else is certainly a nice bonus. Not that I'm trying to nudge you to kick in or anything.

|
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!

Hitting - New, Classic Ghostbusters Toys
|
Via the toy runs over the last two nights: New Movie Ghostbusters Toys Are Hitting Now, May 1 Street Date So, surprisingly, things are basically going smoothly. Mattel has mini-figure blind bags, glow-in-the-dark mini 3-packs, Movie Masters, and a Hot Wheels 2-pack with the Ecto-1 and Ecto-1A from the first two movies.
The new Feig cast figures seem to be suffering from quality control issues - poor eyes and face paint do them no favors, plus the orange and silver seem to bleed in to one another on the costumes. Also surprising, I saw the Matty figures in new packaging with a build-a-no-ghost figure at Walmart for pennies under $20 each - I was not aware those were coming out, especially with Diamond Select's offerings. I would strongly suggest checking these out in person prior to making a purchase.

"Rumor" List - Transformers 2017
|
Via the TFW2005: Transmissions Podcast Titan Wars leaks/rumors. This is a weird one - it's been updated yet again, and if you look at its track record it seems the "rumors" are more or less "confirmations."
New entries include: Bumblebee, Chase, Perceptor, Thunderclap (?), Fastlane, Quickswitch, and Nautica.

New Games for the Xbox One
|
Xbox fans, it's time to try SUPERHOT. Microsoft says:
"Blurring the lines between cautious strategy and unbridled mayhem, SUPERHOT is the FPS in which time moves only when you move. No regenerating health bars. No conveniently placed ammo drops. ItÕs just you, outnumbered and outgunned, grabbing the weapons of fallen enemies to shoot, slice, and maneuver through a hurricane of slow-motion bullets. With its unique, stylized graphics SUPERHOT finally adds something new and disruptive to the FPS genre. SUPERHOTÕs polished, minimalist visual language helps you concentrate on the most important Š on the fluidity of gameplay and cinematic beauty of the fight."
Also available: Battleborn and The Park.

Dragon Quest Coins - Zinc!
|
Via NCS: TOYS Dragon Quest Otakara Coin Collection. That's right - metal coins.
Coin collecting is scarce these days, other than Super7's Skeletoken the last things I got were Star Wars in 2007. These are also zinc, from Japan, and in gold or silver. They look pretty amazing - a set of 12 seems to be $36.90.

Transformers Cyber Battalion - Now at Universal Studios
|
Via TFW2005: Cyber Battalion Bumblebee and Starscream in stock at Universal Orlando in Florida. A few weeks ago we saw Optimus and Starscream with Universal Studios stickers on eBay, but this is the first time we've seen the price - $32.99 each.
Since many of you will resort to online ordering anyway, I got mine at Transfan2's Shop 'n Look, an online shop, for $22.99 each before shipping. Given theme parks, this may be the best deal.
Here are my reviews of these:
Bumblebee [FOTD #1,409]
Grimlock [FOTD #1,415]
Megatron [FOTD #1,395]
Optimus Prime [FOTD #1,414]
Starscream [FOTD #1,413]
Also new and noteworthy, Via TFYuki on Twitter: That is why, also a new fight's beginning as! Next comes the guy quite well behaved in the?? Please expect soon! Or - Sky Lynx and some other dudes.
Nobody knows who the limbs are just yet, but it's expected that the torso is Sky Lynx while the limbs won't quite match up to any US configuration. Speculation is going around that one of the thicker truck legs may well be Ratchet.

Snake Mountain - MOTUCancelled?
|
Via Action Figure Insider: Is The #MOTUC Snake Mountain Playset Dead? The answer looks like a definite maybe.
A notice from Mattel's Facebook says yes - and the set hasn't been discussed in some time. Plans called for a Bluetooth speaker and other exciting enhancements which seem out of line with the current climate in Chinese manufacturing, so something this big coming at all - let alone at a good price - seems unlikely. This seems to mean it's dead, but there's always hope. Deluded hope.
