Review: Funko GLOW Debbie Eagan vs. Ruth Wilder Action Figures
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
I missed it: ORB - "The Space Between" came out in multiple flavors of vinyl on ATO records. (You know, they of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.) ORB is a band that's pretty great - their album Birth was amazing, and Castle Face put it out on this awesome toxic pool yellow color. This new one comes on a bone/water/blood tri-color as well as blood moon splatter or plain silver. I haven't heard the new one yet as I only just discovered it exists, but I can recommend Birth and Naturality albums with the highest of praise.

Switched On SNES - Moog-Esque Secret of Mana, Zelda Soundtracks
Via Bandcamp: Switched On SNES. Thousands of years ago, there was a trend of "Switched On" albums featuring electronic covers of popular hits from the radio, often with a Moog or other synthesizer equipment. This proud tradition continues with the digital Super Nintendo music being covered by digital means, and there are cassettes and records too.
It's charming, but many are already sold out - unless you want digital. Check the site for a free streaming preview, or buy it.

We get a lot of press releases here, and we've had a few vague ones from Liquid Media Group about future game development. This one was a surprise - "Liquid Media Group Announces Miss Kwirk, Sequel to Popular Kwirk Title."
For those of you who are old, the original Kwirk was the Japanese Puzzle Boy game given a tomato-flavored marketing campaign by Acclaim when sold to Americans on the original GameBoy around 1989. (I got it as a kid.) The Atlus-developed game was a whole series in Japan, but Kwirk was famous in the USA for being in an animated cartoon on a syndicated Video Power TV game show. Here's a couple of highlights from the press release:
"It has been 27 years since the events of Kwirk. The revered 90s character has grown a daughter but forgot where she was planted. Miss Kwirk is on a mission to track down her childhood garden. SheÕs got the skills to handle any obstacle. Now, itÕs time to put her moxy to the test and make her way back home. Featuring all-new levels and game-play modes designed to engage gamers of all ages, Miss Kwirk will have a contemporized nostalgic feel with 3D enhancements.
There's no word of which game consoles might get this game, nor any information on when it will be released. But there you go - a sequel to an obscure bit of IP from 29 years ago may be on the way! We're all still waiting on pins and needles for Atari to announce Yar's Revenge's Revenge. It was also mentioned that Majesco - makers of the late 1990s 16bit Genesis/Super NES relaunch at Toys R Us as well as the Wii A Boy and His Blob - will publish.
This week's batch of titles on the eShop: ACA NEOGEO TWINKLE STAR SPRITES, Arcade Archives DOUBLE DRAGON II The Revenge, Hunter's Legacy: Purrfect Edition, Hyperide: Vector Raid, Omensight: Definitive Edition, SEGA AGES Phantasy Star, and Solar Flux. And many, many more.
At retail: Atari Flashback Classics and RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures.
On the Online NES platform: Adventures of Lolo, Ninja Gaiden, Wario's Woods, Metroid Special Edition, and Dr. Mario Special Edition.
He has no trailer, but has two guns and his fists. This incomplete reissue, according to spies who ran the UPC in Walmart's computer, may retail for around $50. That's a lot, but consider most old (pre-2012) toys manufactured in China have skyrocketed recently. Old vehicles, figures, Transformers, and just about everything costs a lot more than it did back in the day. Previous reissues with the trailer sold for $40 or above in the USA, so while exceptionally expensive for a Deluxe-sized robot it is still roughly within those parameters.
There have been dozens of G1 Optimus Prime and Convoy reissues over the past nearly 20 years, including what appear to be an abundance of knockoffs. Weird reissues like the 25th Anniversary one were not - to my knowledge - bootlegged, so those at $100-$200 may provide a worthwhile alternative with a trailer and other accessories. Pepsi Optimus Prime is similarly unique, cheaper, and different enough that it may interest you at the current asking prices. Be wary when buying reissues as the amount of fakes have seemingly increased significantly.
I also found Minibots reissues at a Walmart in Phoenix, AZ over the weekend for about $8 each. This includes the 2008 Encore editions of Bumblebee, Outback, Swerve, and Tailgate on US 1985-style packaging. I think they're very much worth it.

New! The Onell Design Glyos Pheytooth is a tribute to a classic action figure from the 1970s, but even if it weren't it's still pretty cool. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more!

Over the weekend, we spotted two links for Greenlight on Amazon. The picture is one, and this is the other listing for Greenlight. Is either legit? There's no price and no images, but one has what seems like a legit item number so go ahead and click them and sign up for an alert to order it when it becomes available. Greenlight is neither confirmed as an Amazon exclusive or an exclusive at all, but this certainly makes it seem as she may be one. We don't know if a seller made them or if Amazon made them, but they're there.
Yes, those are affiliate links, but you can't order it as of my writing this news article.

Via The Video Game History Foundation: Recovering Nintendo's Lost SimCity for the NES. In short - someone found and posted the lost prototype of this game, which could have been a Christmas present for the older gamers out there!
Of course, it wouldn't be Christmas if you didn't get a present in the form of the unfinished ROM. And an old NES soundtrack as MP3s.

So if you got Spin Master stock for Christmas, good for you. What, if anything, this holds for the immediate future - specifically Shazam! - remains to be seen.
Via many (and this is an Amazon link): Sony PlayStation Classic Mini Console dropped to $59.99. The system god poor reviews, and now it's priced accordingly - a bunch of soft discounts and bonus gift cards before Christmas gave way to a full-blown price drop to $60.
This week's batch of titles on the eShop: Arcade Archives DONKEY KONG JR. , ACA NEOGEO PUZZLE BOBBLE, Diggerman, Jewel Fever 2, Mech Rge, Revenge of the Bird King, and Xenon Valkyrie+.
With most stores closed or closing, only a few hundred locations remain - and the only one near me is going out of business now. If a buyer does not come through, liquidation could begin January 14. The end has been predicted for Kmart and Sears for quite some time, but they're still open - in some locations - for at least a while longer.
