Transformers Selects Redwing Comes and Goes
|
Via Target: Transformers Generations Selects Redwing Action Figure. It was up and down for a few minutes on Monday, leading to speculation that it's a Target exclusive and probably for Target's Deal Days from July 15-16, right before Comic-Con.
It was $29.99, and I was not able to order one as of yet. To date there are no known plans for Sunstorm or Acid Storm, but there's always Comic-Con or next year.

Review: Outer Space Men White Star Zero Gravity Action Figure
|
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Is this the last Glyos The Outer Space Men figure? I hope not! The Outer Space Men White Star Zero Gravity Action Figure just went up for sale recently, and he may round out almost a decade's worth of figures in a line that has run, off and on - mostly off - for 50 years. So read on, and come back tomorrow for more!

Transformers Siege Jetfire Shipping
|
I got mine via Entertainment Earth and this is an affiliate link: Transformers Generations War for Cybertron: Siege Commander Jetfire! I work there, and mine got delivered Wednesday. It's great. I never sell off my older Transformers but I think this Jetfire may have suitably been improved enough to make me be OK replacing the previous 13 years' worth.
- The base robot is over 12-inches tall now.
- The battle mask plugs in to the face, and stores in the alternate chest armor piece which has a big opening door for storage.
- There are a grand total of six bright orange C.O.M.B.A.T. effects, and they can nest to make a bigger one. There's a 5mm peg at the base, which has a 3mm hole, so you can use it with Jetfire's huge guns or the standard size robots' smaller pegs if you like.
- The rotating Autobot/Decepticon chest symbol is a hoot - and it's sculpted, not flat with a tampo.
- Jetfire does not have tilting ankles like his smaller cousins.
- Jetfire does not have any sort of opening cockpit.
- Jetfire's transformation is pretty easy to figure out, although shoving the shoulders into vehicle mode is a little tricky. I would recommend the instructions.
- Battle-weathering is minimal, and almost wasted. It's off-white on an off-white figure - you can barely tell it's there.
- It's really fun to play with - the 5mm grips under the jet mode allow other toys to hang on and blast things, and it's really fun. There aren't a lot of whimsical "play" features on Siege thanks to its display aspects. I like it.
Order Yours Here
Hasbro and Takara-Tomy delivered what may well be the finest Jetfire we'll ever receive in a non-Masterpiece format. There are hiding 5mm holes in the fists when you open the fingers. You get a whole armory of blasters. It's a lot to play with, which is a nice change of pace. Kudos to the designers' sense of scale, too.

Hey! A Panel! Starring Everybody, and Me!
|
Via Comic-Con International: New Toys, Action Figures, and Statues with Entertainment Earth's Adam Pawlus.
It's a panel where I show you stuff that has not been announced yet! And hopefully stays unannounced until Thursday July 18 at 3-4 PM in Room #9. The description was written before I had the first thing to show, so I can tell you there's a good chance it may wind up not having any actual statues in the traditional sense - but there are plenty of toys, figures, and other things that would qualify as news on a site like this one, or yours if you're in the press.
It looks like I'm competing with D&D, Ghostbusters, Farscape, Star Trek, Neal Adams, and some more overlapping things. Obviously I'd love to see you there, and I can't confirm nor deny fans of those things will also find something to like at my slide show because that's how you keep a secret. The press is indeed welcome, as are you, and bring the kids. If they can get through the whole thing I'm sure they'll find it ultimately enjoyable, plus or minus the cranky person on stage talking about the old days.

Via Comic-Con International 2019: New Toys, Action Figures, and Statues with Entertainment Earth's Adam Pawlus. It's one week from tomorrow! At 3:00 PM on July 18, come to Room #9 for an hour of action figures, vinyl figures, trading figures, dangling figures, transforming figures, retro figures, and goodness knows what else from some of your favorite and soon-to-be-favorite toy companies.
It is a classic affirmation of everything right and true and decent in this business. It is an overstuffed 121 slides of the fantastic possibilities of life in this hobby - but only for those with true grit. And we are chock full of that.
During this convention season, I'll be posting some stuff to the Instagram from the GameBoy Cameras I bring with me. Real, vintage, used ones I keep right here!

TurboGrafx-16 Mini Lineup Includes 49 Games, Including Dracula X
|
Via Konami: TurboGrafx-16 Mini Includes 50 Games!. Neutopia is on there twice.
The line-up is a feast of riches, depending on the final cost this Amazon-exclusive micro console may well rival Sega's box. Japanese games are included, as are a ton of shooting games.
A Multitap is sold separately - maybe a USB hub will work - for 6-player games.
But this isn't important. What's important is the games you get in the US version - Salamander. Gradius and Gradius II: The Ambition of Gofer. Dracula X: Rondo of Blood. Snatcher. And three different Bomberman games. Unless the emulation is garbage, it seems perfect.
They even went through the trouble of omitting Keith Courage in Alpha Zones.

GBAConsolizer Full Case Pre-orders
|
Via Game-Tech.us: GBAConsolizer Full Case fully assembled. This $349.95 gadget lets you use a Super NES pad to play your GameBoy family of games on an HDTV - it's made using existing game hardware and some new parts. It's also really expensive.
Other than clone consoles like the Retron 5, there aren't many ways to play this family of games on your HDTV. You can use a Super GameBoy on an Analogue Super NT or Retron/HD Super Nintendo, but that won't let you play GameBoy Color or GameBoy Advance games. At this time there are no known upcoming mass-produced clone consoles to play these games.

Transformers War for Cybertron Unicron Funding Begins
|
Via Hasbro Pulse and HasLab: Transformers: War for Cybertron Unicron. It already has outsold last week's launch Cookie Monster, but has a massive goal of 8,000 units.
The 30-inch tall robot has 47 days to raise the money, or it gets to be yet another footnote on TFWiki's unproduced Unicron toys page. Hasbro is asking for $4.6 million from US and Canada customers to get this made.
Also Acid Storm, Ion Storm, and Nova Storm are making the rounds - with no details.
So yeah. If you're in for War for Cybertron, start skipping meals kids.

Let's SDCC: Creative Beast
|
Comic-Con is on, but I have to work - so I only got a brief look around at press time. I started with Creative Beast, a gorgeous line of indie dinosaur toys. On display were production pieces of a number of existing velociraptors, plus a few prototypes of those and the upcoming Ceratopsians line. The Kickstarter for the Triceratops and its ilk begins in September.
No pricing was given for the 1:12 scale Triceratops and friends, but these hefty figures are sized to go with your Marvel Legends and Black Series toys. The Raptors are 1:6 scale figures, designed for 12-inch humans.
Also, Hasbro's HasLab Unicron is big. Really big.
