Hasbro Wolverine Movie Toys Hitting
|
Over the weekend (actually late last week) brick and mortar stores and online shops got in their new Hasbro Wolverine Toys and Action Figures which we should point out have wildly divergent prices. The suggested retail on the 3 3/4-inch action figures is about $5.99 but certain stores where toys are them are about $9.99 each - so you may wish to weigh where you buy these things.
I have yet to see the "Nerf Claw" in person, but the figures all look pretty decent.

Retro Not-Kenner Six Million Dollar Man Figures
|
The most gorgeous thing you'll see this week comes from a company you've never heard of. Zica Toys is doing The Six Million Dollar Man in a style not unlike Kenner's post-Star Wars output of the late 1970s and early 1980s - that means knee joints and The Empire Strikes Back-era sculpting. It's amazing, and you're going to love it. I don't care if you've never seen the show, neither have I. It's wonderful. Splendiferous.

Playstation 3: Japan Getting D&D Chronicles of Chronicles of Mystara Boxed Set
|
Uber-importer NCS has the scoop: Remember Me is getting a fancy pants (read: expensive) boxed set with arcade cabinet decal reproductions, a soundtrack CD, rubber coasters, and a ton of other stuff.
It's JPY12,000 and the import going rate seems to be about $180. I assume an Xbox version is unlikely, in Japan anyway. The good news is that the Japanese release will be compatible with US and European PS3 consoles.

Fastest Hot Wheels Car of All Time?
|
I was wondering what (if any) Hot Wheels car had been dubbed "fastest" and found out that for a while, it turns out that a Matchbox car held the title. The Blue Real Riders Club has an article WHO HAS THE FASTEST HOT WHEELS CAR? that held a tournament to find exactly that, and there's a few pages to wade through to find out that there are a couple of cars which are pretty speedy.
I am still looking to see if anyone keeps a database of this information because that'd be a fantastic thing to add to a wiki somewhere. This article isn't particularly new, but it's new to me and I thought worth sharing.

New Hot Wheels Mail-In, Just Add Effort
|
Remember the Moss Man mail-in like ten years ago? The new Toys "R" Us 2013 Hot Wheels Collector Edition Purple Passion Woody Promotion is kind of the same deal, but even more of a drag on the postal system. You're going to need a large envelope.
The exclusive car costs $3.50 plus the purchase of 20 cars - but it gets complicated. You have to buy 20 cars - but they have to be from Toys R Us, and it has to be purchased between June 30 and August 31. Then, you have to send in the receipts and the entire cardback from 20 cars to Mattel. So basically, this nifty $1 mail-in car will set you back at least $5 in supplies, plus cars. It's sort of a lot of hoops to jump through, but that is the price of love.
That's one way to clear out the stores!

G2 Masterpiece Sideswipe Happening
|
According to many posts on Twitter which have been archived at TFW2005, Masterpiece G2 Sideswipe & 30th Anniversary Masterpiece Fans Choice Characters Revealed! An early G2 Sideswipe (black head, actual G2 logo) was on display as yet another reuse of the mold, but one I think a lot of people will find exciting.
Also notable, the Fan's Choice characters include numerous Autobot and even Maximal leaders, so if "Convoy" was ever a part of its Japanese name odds are it's up for voting soon.

Glyos Menu, Noboto!
|
Via the Glyos News Dump: Glyos Onell Design June 14 2013 Drop Menu shows that the big surprise was Noboto, and in decent numbers to boot! This guy has been previewed a few times and teased for a while, and we read he has a backpack and two heads. What a deal for $8!
And now the bad news - due to a glitch seemingly with Paypal, there were order/inventory issues and 100% of the orders have been/will be refunded and the drop will be rescheduled for a later date. If there was a bright side, as of when I looked about an hour after the drop or so, nothing had yet sold out due to larger quantities.

Mordles Bonus: An Egg!

Club Mordle members that signed in on Sunday late at night saw their bonus - a big ol' egg will be included with the yellow sets. The egg has some real significance, but that's sorta kinda under wraps briefly so yeah. (Heck, I'm only mentioning it here because it made the forums. It's exciting stuff.) We'll be showing it here when we review the yellow Mordles very, very soon. Another colorway was also previewed, but I'm going to let them reveal that one.

Super7 Confirms ALIEN SDCC Plans, Steals Show
|
Proof positive that somebody "gets it," the Super7 will offer FOUR different ALIEN ReAction Figure exclusives at San Diego Comic Con!
Two of the items are free, but you're going to want to shell out some money for these. Free items include figure stands and catalogs, while paid items include Early Bird kits and gorgeous faux prototype figures.
First up: the faux-totypes.
A limited number of blue figures were cast to look like the real (and fake) "Blue Harvest" prototypes commonly seen in the 1990s. This huge gallery shows you pretty dang much everything you could possibly want to see.
It comes to you in a small box similar to Kenner's mail-in offers of the 1970s and 1980s, with a tongue-in-cheek letter about how the "upcoming" line would be a huge hit in 1979. The set is $40. No edition size given.
Next up: an actual Early Bird Kit. The set is $100 and is the empty box gambit from 1977 that kicked off Star Wars - you pay for the set and get a stage, some stickers, and basically what amounts to a slavish recreation of the Kenner original with one key difference: you get five figures this time.
There are also some free Display Stands. These are going to be the sleeper hit of the show, I'm already sweating how I will get 2-7 of them for my other figures.
Click here for the full press release and many more photographs.

Glyos Drop Happened Again
|
Via the Glyos News Dump: Onell Drop Live! links to the slightly-modified redrop that was offered about a week and a half ago, and at press time there have been no known snags or anything. Also amazing, an hour into the drop, everything was still available!
Be sure to see what's left. Maybe you'll get something great! Also, get a look at this one:
Also newsworthy: The Godbeast Presents: Kabuto Mushi MKII, PVC Production A Possibility. Known mostly for hand-cast, low-run, gorgeous yet high-end artistic endeavors, the great Marty "The Godbeast" Hansen is gearing up a new design for production and he's talking about casting and selling prototypes. If you read the post, you'll see he alludes to possible PVC production in China which means hooray for everyone because after many years, one of the great makers in this community is looking to make something on a larger scale.

Ouya: New Game Consoles In Stores (or Sold Out) Today
|
It's here! Non-Kickstarter people can buy the Ouya game console today! Not many games are up for it yet, but the Android-based console has been available to Kickstarter supporters for a little while now. Supposedly the retail box version is a little different and has made a few improvements, and I'm looking for reviews to verify if this is true. It has downloadable games and 8GB of on-board storage, but is expandable with your USB hard drives and whatnot.
Supposedly it's in Target, Best Buy, Amazon, and GameStop today! Good luck with that. Amazon had/has it, it was $99.99.

Sucklord Presents S.U.C.K.L.E. Mini-Figures
|
On Kickstarter, and wildly inappropriate for kids, a new mini-figure line called S.U.C.K.L.E. (Simply Unimportant Collectable Kitschy Little Eyesores) has already far surpassed its goal and hit a stretch goal to include glow-in-the-dark figures, bringing 30 figures to a $40 pledge.
The language in the video and character names aren't remotely family friendly, but they are consistent with the artist behind the figures known to most as Sucklord. Suckadelic, DKE, and George Gaspar of October Toys are working on this project and it seems to be pretty successful so far.

Mordle Drop Today - New Comic for Club Mordle Members
|
Overnight yesterday, we got an email from John Kent of ToyFinity to Origin of the Species, the first-ever ToyFinity comic which has some pretty awesome artwork (in which you see very few Mordles) but you get a look at the creation of the Mordles and another familiar toy character who has been reviewed on this very site. It's neat, and you'll dig it if you're a member. If you aren't, I'm not sure when you can see it.
The ToyFinity Store Opens to the Public at 9:00 PM Eastern so you can snag Mordles if you are so inclined - and you probably are. Click here to see our review of the yellow ones and click here to see our review of the blue ones. And remember, the yellow ones include a Manglors egg!
