Classic Review: Diamond Select Toys Aliens vs. Colonial Marines Figure Set
Something new every day-- but this was posted 10 years ago today! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Posted 10 years ago! From 2015, Diamond Select Toys Aliens vs. Colonial Marines Figure Set were a set of army man-style figures with the marines and aliens you wanted. I remember seing concepts of Universal Monsters and other licenses figures like this, but they never made it out. Well, at least these did - there were lots of styles and later, some came in slime eggs. Those ones could glow in the dark. They're neat. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for a new one!

Review: Hasbro Transformers Age of the Primes Voyager The Thirteen Alpha Trion
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Newish! The Hasbro Transformers Age of the Primes Voyager The Thirteen Alpha Trion borrows just enough from the cartoon to be interesting - plus he has a quill and a book, which makes him more interesting. He turns into a space ship, which, sure, fine. It's a nice enough robot figure that hopefully you got before the prices went up. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R2-H25 (Droid Factory). This one was unusual - it went up at $14.99, then went up to $17.99, and is now old out. Other than the hat, it looks like it would fit in with your movie droids - and I love that. Should you track it down? Read the whole review.

Recent! The Mattel Hot Wheels Mattel Dream Mobile comes on at least two different cardbacks - I found this one at Mattel's El Segundo company store. I've seen the blue one online, so I know it exists. The mold has been around for a few years, and now I finally have one. The red coloring looks great. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via the Glyos News Dump: Glyos Onell Design October 12, 2025 Drop Menu. Nothing specific has been seen, but a social media post implies at least a couple are coming. If you like to build, it's going to be a great place to get some new parts. Mark those calendars!
For those keeping track at home, assuming no other Glyos figures get released, this will be six days between releases. Knights of the Slice had a drop on Saturday and a couple more are expected "soon."

New! The Super7 Micronauts Microtron ReAction+ Figure is a smaller and less modular take of the 1970s powered toy. If you weren't here yet, you will no doubt be delighted to get a retro-style robot with chrome parts and giant arm wheels, for some reason. I like this guy because I like old robot toys - I never had the original, so I have to just enjoy it for what it is rather than what it isn't. I'd recommend giving it a look. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Star Wars Review: Chewbacca (2025 - The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Chewbacca (2025 - The Vintage Collection) . It's the new one, but it's also made up of a lot of parts from the 2004 figure still. They did a great job back then, but I'd also love to see what a 100%-new figure might look like. This one can sit a little better, and the head paint is good - but the bandolier might get in the way of hanging out on a chair in your Cantina if you don't angle him right.

Via the Glyos News Dump: The GodBeast December 5, 2025 Drop Menu. At least nine releases were live, two of which were made of two figures each - there were hidden Armorvors in there. The variety is excellent and it's worth a look, especially the mothy Mothman. Check 'em out!

Posted 10 years ago! From 2015, Funko Gremlins Christmas Gizmo ReAction Figure. When they first came out, I ordered all of them - but the early Funko figures were a mix of cool collectibles, and self-destructing toys with stuck joints or weird elements (like Doc Brown's neck) that caused the figure's torso to wrench open. Santa Gizmo had a stuck arm, which was obnoxious. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for a new one!

Review: Hasbro Transformers Studio Series 86 Deluxe Constructicon Scavenger Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Newish! The Hasbro Transformers Studio Series 86 Deluxe Constructicon Scavenger Action Figure is an arm for your big Devastator, and an OK toy on its own. It has many of the vestiges of the original toy, like the chest tab, but that no longer performs the function of shoulder connector. This toy tries to match the colors and vibe of the cartoon, and does a fairly decent job. You get the blaster! You don't get the launching fists or drill accessories. I'd recommend it if you're buying the whole combiner. Read on!
Star Wars Review: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Blue Tech Speeder Bike / Epic World of Action)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Blue Tech Speeder Bike / Epic World of Action). I've never seen this in a store - but you can get it online. The bike is a nifty new mold with swing-out wings, rolling wheels, and a firing rocket. Obi-Wan is a mix of unique parts and elements shared with other figures - and a great head sculpt for a kid item. If you can find it for a fair price, especially at or under $20, get it. Review: Mattel He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Cartoon Collection Buzz-Off Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Recent! The Mattel He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Cartoon Collection Buzz-Off Action Figure may still be around, and looks so good you can practically hear the weird voice from the cartoon. He has a lance, a comic, and more or less looks like you remember from TV. There are quite a few changes from the toy model, so you're going to find out real quick if you're a "toy" fan or a "cartoon" fan. I only knew the characters from the cartoon as a kid, so I definitely prefer this one. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

New! The The GodBeast Glyos Void Mothman Monstor arrived last month and since then, we've seen the number of colorways increase to about six. But that's a good thing - with multiple heads and configurations, you can make a lot of bunnies, moths, spiders, and monsters out of this larger-than-average Glyos-compatible figure. A silver one is still available, but the rest all sold out rather quickly. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
After losing one of my favorite podcasts last year I was looking for a new replacement, and I think this is going to fit the bill. I've got some catching up to do. If you're familiar with these guys, now you know it exists too. They got Drew Friedman and Dana Gould on the guest roster, so you know I'm going to listen.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R4-TR3 (Droid Factory). It's from 2024, and it's kinda great with super-colorful lights, but also, it's a decoration and maybe it will fit in hte background of your Endor display. It's sold out, but you can still find one.

Via Kickstarter: Mighty Orbots Deluxe Combining 12" Figure (1985 Edition). I am not one who should ever turn my nose up at obscure toys from an underappreciated cartoon from 1985, but here's one that surprised me. The cartoon was to have had a Mattel die-cast metal robot toy set, but it never came to be. Heck, I don't even remember the show and I was extremely interested in Saturday Morning cartoons of that era. Its peers were GoBots, Transformers, and Voltron... and it does look a little more primitive than those other toys. But, it should, if they're trying to match the original concept.
The big set is $300, but there's also bundle with the Shadow version too. There's also a $20 level for the Beam Car and Ohno, which is pretty darned cheap for a low-run special item from a 40 year old cartoon that probably went mostly unremembered. It just started with 29 days to go, and is about 20% of the way there. I think it has a good chance.

Posted 10 years ago! From 2015, Hasbro Transformers Timelines Depth Charge was a club exclusive. They made too many, then they blew it out, and now it's getting expensive again - and it's nifty. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for a new one!

Review: Hasbro Transformers x Hot Wheels Collaborative Twin Mill
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Just hitting stores now! The Hasbro Transformers x Hot Wheels Collaborative Twin Mill just might be at a store near you, or online. It's built by a slightly different design team, but is a pretty great vehicle-first deluxe-ish sized toy. I really like this one and his companion Bone Shaker, which we'll look at next month. (I'm shooting for 5 reviews a week for January and February, so I have to work ahead now.) I really like these guys, and would say they're worth a look if you want new cars and new characters. Presumably, you do. Read on!
Via the Glyos News Dump: Glyos Onell Design December 14, 2025 Drop Menu. It was announced Saturday, launched Sunday, and I didn't even know there was a drop to miss until Monday - at which point most of it was gone. Well, can't win 'em all. Check 'em out!
Star Wars Review: Snaggletooth (Cantina Adventure Set - The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Snaggletooth (Cantina Adventure Set - The Vintage Collection). A more or less modern mold painted to look like the very first Sears exclusive Star Wars figure! This guy has a blaster, three other figures, and a diorama - and the price is pretty fair for what you get in the box. The boots are molded in silver (rather than painted) plus he has pale skin and that thin red smile. It's distinctive, and you should probably buy two. Read the whole review.

Newish! The The GodBeast Glyos Void Sectavorian is a figure with loads of bugly goodness. He has two heads with an optional horn on one of them, swappable hands, and a configurable sword that can fit in pretty much any fist. Other colors are available, but this one sold out. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Star Wars Review: Wuher (2025 - The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Wuher (2025 - The Vintage Collection). I was happy with the old one from 2000, but this one is better. If we never got this update with the HasLab Cantina, I'd still have been happy with the 25-year-old release - but wow. Painted chest hair. Facial bruising. Bags under the eyes. A separately molded hair piece. Incredible articulation. And, for some reason, an alternate hand which adds no actual functionality since his regular mitts can hold glasses just fine. He's got a blaster too. I'd say "get this one" but that ship has theoretically sailed unless you're going to the Bay of E.

Posted 10 years ago! From 2013, Takara-Tomy Beast Saga Aljaylo Burst Action Figure. It's a clear armadillo, blind boxed, and long since discontinued. I like this guy a lot, and I wish the line kept going. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for a new one!
Over the weekend, Hasbro posted the next two episodes of Transformers Cyberworld on YouTube. Yes, another one!
"Wheeljack's Mysterious Disappearance" gets a lot of work out of a few voice actors, and shows Hasbro is also thinking about aftermarket robot upgrades.

Newish! The Hasbro Transformers Retro G1 Deluxe Seaspray Action Figure should be at a Walmart near you, and unlike a lot of other really good exclusives it might still be there. I saw some over the weekend, and heard of reports of a few markdowns but can't personally confirm them. I paid $25 for this guy online and it's great - it has a blaster, and it looks a lot like a more complicated version of the original. If you collect these guys, this is the best Seaspray we've had in terms of size and articulation, with a great sculpt to boot. If you're not thinking about selling the Titans Return one from about 10 years ago yet, you probably are now. Read on!
In case your ears have some time: Retronauts Episode 737: Holiday Special 2025 - Video Power! The podcast is very good, and the TV show they're covering was something 1980s NES kids might remember. The first year had cartoons and info-tainment video game coverage, while the second year dropped the cartoon and was something of a game show. It's why I bought a copy of Insector-X a few years ago, as I remember kids getting several copies velcroed to them every morning.
If you remember Video Power you should check this out. And if you don't, and you read my site a few times a month, you're probably the age of person who wants to hear this.
Star Wars Review: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Masters / Epic World of Action)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Masters / Epic World of Action). Still at a Target near you, this is the one figure in the set that gets you a lot of new parts. He shares a few elements with the bike figure you also don't have, but he's mostly new and has lightning on his hands for some reason. That aide, it's still a ver good figure. The 5-pack exclusive is a decent deal at regular price, and is $29.74-ish on sale today - and may be cheaper in a week or two. Be sure to snag it before it vanishes, it's neat. Read the whole review.

Recent! The Onell Design Glyos Infinite Sarvos Buildborn Action Figure sold out, but we've since had a few other recolors and they're all really snazzy. This has been the one with the lowest price, designed to match other silver "Buildborn" releases. It's a Four Horsemen-sculpted armored robot guy with extra heads and gear, so give 'er a look and get the next one. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Via Playmates Toys: Inside Information - Non-renewal of a Major License from 2027. This is pretty upsetting information - if you're an investor or a fan, or just someone who likes stability, Playmates and TMNT will be splitting up after nearly 40 years of success. The license expires at the end of 2026.
People have asked me "Well, what else is Playmates doing?" Quite a bit - Power Rangers, Godzilla (and MonsterVerse/Godzilla vs. Kong) action figures are under their umbrella, as is Miraculous. Winx is also in their portfolio. Their continued success may also be determined by other new brands, and Playmates is one of few big players doing good, kid-priced, quality action toys based on big licenses. Mattel and Hasbro and BanDai do a lot of stuff, but a lot of it is $20 or more and aimed at older audiences.
Who will take TMNT as a kid/fan action figure property? Right now, there are products coming out of NECA, Super7, Mezco, McFarlane Toys, Hasbro, Boss Fight Studios, and the remaining inventory from Mattel, just to name a few. Hasbro hasn't been doing much to develop its kid stable as kid product in recent years, focusing more on higher-dollar collector customers. Mattel has put out some very good kid-adjacent Turtles of Grayskull figures. Very few other companies are able to deliver a decent, chunky figure for around ten bucks - and for all I know we'll see a new player emerge. It's really unfortunate to see the partnership dissolve, as I believe it may be the longest-running, generally unbroken licensed action figure toy partnership in my lifetime. Kenner/Hasbro and Star Wars had a brand change and a gap of 10 years with no product - which I believe makes it the new longest-running license and action toy brand partnership not counting something like McFarlane who owns Spawn.
Hasbro could be a good partner if they throw some development funds at it and potentially start letting its many brands and licenses compete for resources and not get in each others' way. Funko would be interesting to see try another bid at kid product. It would be amazing to see it go to an indie to develop again, because Playmates really treated TMNT like a queen and lavished attention and resources on the brand even in bad times. Their goofy Universal Monsters crossover is one of my favorite toy series of all time, and may have been one of the first dual entertainment licensed action figure offerings. Heck, they still do these sorts of things - you can get Godzilla x TMNT in Target right now (if you're lucky.) Come to think of it, I should probably pick those up next time I see them.
Review: Hasbro Transformers Studio Series 86 Devastator
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Complete! The Hasbro Transformers Studio Series 86 Devastator is up today because I don't think anyone is going to be reading. So why not do a combined robot thing? It's not as big as the Combiner Wars toy but it looks a lot better, with more articulation, and it costs more. It's a good upgrade. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Star Wars Review: Snowtrooper (The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Snowtrooper (The Vintage Collection). It's the best one yet - no surprise there. It's sold in a four-pack, or a typical cardback. But here's the weird thing - I've never seen it in a big box store. I can get plenty of Lando, or The Acolyte figures, maybe a Cobb Vanth or other characters. But for some reason, they decided not to put this nicely-articulated best-yet take on The Empire Strikes Back's most distinctive trooper in places where you can easily buy one, or two, or thirty. I'd recommend adding it to your squad if you can find it.

How the Grinch Stole Rawshark Studios Custom Corps
Via the Glyos News Dump: Rawshark Studios December 28, 2025 Drop Menu. The "Grimch" appears to be a mass-produced figure, but the others are hand-painted customs with fancy capes and cool accessories like a whole dang bike. Grimch Stealth is a very affordable $25, with the more complex guys being $65 or $180 in the case of the bike. We very rarely get Custom Corps drops, so you'll want to check 'em out.
Here's hoping they both open, but "when" is certainly an issue. The Arizona one was supposed to be open in 2022 and keeps getting pushed back. The KCUR article estimates the price of the Kansas theme park at $540 million and that it "could open in 2031."
A couple of weeks ago, The Video Game History Foundation posted the next two episodes of Don't Just Watch TV: The Secrets of Sega Channel on YouTube. I rarely suggest anybody sit down and watch hourlong YouTube videos, but this is a good one. Back in the 1990s, Sega distributed games via cable TV for a monthly subscription fee in markets that I did not live in. Most of these were lost, but they found tons of documentation, marketing, and of course data that you can play. A lot of it is shown here.
Not coincidentally, someone is developing a MiSTer core for Sega Channel which I have not yet personally tried. The video shows all sorts of games, a digital magazine, fan art, and just gobs of goodies that I feel robbed for not having the chance to play (or pay) back in the 1990s. Obviously a lot of the stuff on offer wasn't fantastic, but there are some gems in there. And, seemingly, some of the worst games ever. If by some chance you have an office job where you can watch this in slices this week, I recommend that you do so. It is not a waste of your time.
Classic Review: Hasbro Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Blast Off
Something new every day-- but this was posted 10 years ago today! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Posted 10 years ago! From 2015, Hasbro Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Blast Off was one of two combiner figures we got in America. This one was a redeco of Quickslinger with a new head - later, Amazon got an actual space shuttle. We also just got a new Age of the Primes one, so any way you slice it this guy is probably unnecessary unless you want to keep the distinctive and unusual plane on the combiner. Maybe you do! He's pretty inexpensive now, so if you want a Blast Off plane you can probably scrape together a few bucks and get this one. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for a new one!

Review: Hasbro Transformers Studio Series 86 Voyager Autobot Blaster & Eject Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
A rerun that is probably sold out! The Hasbro Transformers Studio Series 86 Voyager Autobot Blaster & Eject Action Figure was a Target exclusive in 2024... and I think I saw it maybe twice there. Weirdly I saw it first at Zia Records below cost, and probably should have just bought it. (I picked up the rerun at Entertainment Earth.) The cartoon redeco has no clear packaging, and arguably better paint. I haven't sold my Kingdom/Legacy one yet... and probably won't sell the clear Eject. I want both. You may feel the same way, especially with all the tapes we got in recent years. Read on!
Star Wars Review: Force Ghost Yoda (Force Masters / Epic World of Action)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Force Ghost Yoda (Force Masters / Epic World of Action). He has no accessories and no paint other than the eyes, but this is a striking figure. The clear blue has a nice shine to it, with decent articulation for a kid's Yoda. It would be nice to have a cane or some other accessory. You've seen other dead versions of Yoda, but this one is probably the Smurfiest. Read the whole review.

Recent! The Super7 Universal Monsters Lon Chaney as The Wolf Man ReAction+ Figure is something I haven't seen in stores. He's been hanging around my desk for a couple of months, menacing G.I. Joes and otherwise being fun to fuss with. (Cobra Commander is borrowing his cane.) I like this one a lot. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
