Star Wars Review: Chewbacca (Epic World of Action)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Chewbacca (Epic World of Action). It's tall, it has a lot of articulation, and it's really nice. I don't know if it is coming to stores or not - I got mine online. I was surprised the figure's design borrows heavily from the 6-inch sculpt. Read the whole review.

Old! The Mattel Hot Wheels Lightnin' Bug is something I found in a grocery store and bought on a lark - it glows! How can you go wrong? You can't. It's probably hard to find, but you never know what's in a bin next to the frozen beef pies at Gristedes. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!

Chase! The Funko Soda Ghostbusters Slimer (Chase) Vinyl Figure doesn't glow very well. Oddly, one of the arms doesn't glow at all - but it's a cute sculpt, and it's a decent item for the price. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
You've ordered custom shells, maybe 3D printed or whittled one. But now you can buy one using LEGO: Behold: The Lego Game Boy has already been modded to play games for real. It's still a work-in-progress, but one Natalie the Nerd has slapped together something using 3D printed buttons and the results are, so far, looking good.
Instructions are not yet complete but you can see the progress thus far. It's a sharp idea - not sure how practical it will be for most people, but practicality isn't usually the point with a lot of mods. It should be fun.
Star Wars Review: Padme Amidala (The Black Series 3 3/4-Inch)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Padme Amidala (The Black Series 3 3/4-Inch) . She's from 2013, but I was on a break for a while then. With the new Gunship, maybe you'll want to keep her around just in case her Nexu slash marks are more to your liking. (I don't know the Nexu-ness if the new one.)

With NYCC next week, a lot of figures are expected to be revealed and go up for pre-order. Fans are reporting finding the G1 carded Seaspray and Brawn now, and it seems Gears and Bumblebee have exited the system.

Via the Internet: The Dr. Demento Show will end its broadcast and streaming run of over 50 years this weekend with one final countdown of a show. Last week's show was packed with the doctor's favorites - I assume most of which are recognizable to anybody who ever heard the show more than a couple of times.
If you never heard of the Dr. Demento Show, it used to be a Los Angeles show that was nationally syndicated and then pivoted to streaming. It focuses mostly on comedic music, which hasn't been as much of a thing since the general decline of comedy albums and especially novelty songs. It's famous for giving "Weird Al" Yankovic his big break and also putting the likes of Frank Zappa, Tom Lehrer, Monty Python, and thousands of others in front of people. And by people, I mean generally the kind of people who write and read web sites like this one. If you plumb through the archives, you'll probably need to say "...it was a different time" every now and again.
Next week, Marc Maron is ending his long-running WTF Podcast, so a lot of people are about to have a lot of freed up ear time.
Star Wars Review: Pirate Captain Brutus (Epic Hero Series)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Pirate Captain Brutus (Epic Hero Series). It's a relatively new figure, but I haven't seen a single report of it in a big box store. So far the de facto online exclusive has delighted tens of fans, I assume. That's a shame because it's pretty good with a blaster, a blade, and a rocket launcher you can mount to a vest. Hasbro did a nice job with this one, and I'd recommend buying it if you actually ever see the Skeleton Crew figure. Also notable, there's no mention of the show name on the packaging.
Via Hasbro Pulse: TRON: Heroes of the Grid 3.75-Inch Collectors Set. It almost fits in the IKEA DETOLF, but is about a half inch too wide. But you get a nice light-up display base, a backdrop, five figures, and two bikes with accessories. At $259.99 it's not cheap - frankly, I'd probably have dropped the stand to save a few bucks - but I bet it'll look good in a home office or display. It's definitely priced as an adult collectible and it sports some of the very best human likenesses I've seen for these characters.
There are no stretch goal (that's good) and it needs 10,000 units to fund. That seems unlikely as at the end of the first day, it hasn't yet cracked 1,000. It doesn't mean it won't fund, but you have about 46 days to decide if you'll be hanging out with Sark or just going to eBay for Super7, Tomy, NECA, Medicom, Diamond Select, or Spin Master figures.
Hasbro did a real nice job here, but marketing direct-to-consumer for a brand that doesn't have a built-in "shut up and take my money" pipeline could be particularly challenging. I hope this item finds its audience because this is the kind of thing I'd like to see more of. Hasbro did a one-off of the monster from Cloverfield and not all great movie lines need a big, multi-year line when one big box can cover the bases for an adult fan. It's a great item for someone who likes the movie and wants something cool to display but may not actually ever play with it.

Posted 10 years ago! From 2014, Hasbro Transformers Generations Thrilling 30 Jhiaxus is inspired by an old Kay-Bee exclusive as well as the old comic head, on a Starscream body with some nice mods. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for a new one!
Via the Internet: The Dr. Demento Show posted its final episode, a top 40 from the past 55 years, for streaming (or download if you know how.) If you've never heard the show before, this really is the greatest hits installment. Some stuff holds up great to time, and some stuff not so much. But you get a good idea of what people were listening to every week for half a century.
I bought the stream for $3, and it was worth the money for the time spent for the various new-to-me anecdotes and some interesting restored edits on songs I didn't realize were edited for their previous releases and broadcasts. I also recommend show #2531 available here, which was the Tom Lehrer Tribute from earlier in the year.
The 3 1/2-hour spectacle features the most-requested songs from the run, so you've probably heard a lot of it. The most recent song is from 1999. This sounds about right - novelty records haven't exactly been big this century. There have been plenty of demented records, though, so hopefully someone else will pick up the baton and bring people the weirdness coming out of non-comedy circles. The top 3 won't surprise you if you've heard the show before, though. Decades of votes on the books makes it hard for new stuff to break through.
Via the Glyos News Dump: Glyos Onell Design October 12, 2025 Drop Menu. Pheyden Infinite is a Four Horsemen collab and it looks great. It comes in three flavors. I bought all three, so expect to see reviews at some point in November or December. (I have to work ahead a bit.) All three sold out. Check 'em out!
Phrangoss sold out in under 20 minutes, and the others followed in short order. They're considering a second run so keep an eye out for that.
Via Mattel Creations: Monster High Skullector Alien Doll goes up Thursday for $85. That's a lot - but it's really unlike anything else I've seen in this space. Where no one can hear you scream. They're really doing some interesting stuff over there.

Review: Takara-Tomy Transformers Missing Link Sunstreaker Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
New! Takara-Tomy Transformers Missing Link Sunstreaker Action Figure is a new toy very much inspired by one of the oldest Diaclone car designs. He's got a Spike Dianaut pilot, alternate fists, and generally looks like a 40ish year old toy. It also keeps the same odd proportions of the original toy, which is the way something like this should be. (Got get an Arcee.) I like what they did here, and it's a good choice given Takara and/or Takara-Tomy never reissued the original. And it's expensive. Read on!
Star Wars Review: C1-10P (Ahsoka show redeco, Droid Factory)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: C1-10P (Ahsoka show redeco, Droid Factory). It's a repaint of a cartoon toy for a live action show, and it's similar enough that you probably wouldn't miss not having it. The actual prop had some alterations from this design, but it's probably one of those "close enough" things that you wouldn't mind having nor would you miss not having. Assuming you had other Disney or Hasbro Chopper figures, of course. Read the whole review.

Neat! The Mattel He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Cartoon Collection Hordak Action Figure might be in a store near you - or not, distribution for these guys is kind of weird from store to store. He's basically just Hordak with a big Time Stopper accessory, but the colors match the cartoon and the head sculpt is great. Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Star Wars Review: Darth Vader (The Journey of Anakin Skywalker - The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Darth Vader (The Journey of Anakin Skywalker - The Vintage Collection). He's new, and technically from Ahsoka but also might do as a stand-in for Revenge of the Sith despite the red blade lightsaber. It's a pretty great figure and part of a 3-pack with an Emperor's Wrath Vader and a caped The Clone Wars Anakin.

Via Onell.store: Reorder Pre-Order Ends October 19. Buildborn Infinite Sarvos and friends are up for a new run at the same prices, but you have to order by Sunday night to get in on the action.
I haven't got my order yet so I can't confirm how they are. Previous Onell Design figures and indeed all Glyos figures I've picked up have been (at worst) pretty good - so I can't imagine they'll disappoint.

Posted 10 years ago! From 1989, Hasbro Transformers Micromasters Overload was what kids may have bought when Optimus Prime or Ultra Magnus were out of their price ranges. The cheap small toy could be a truck or a plane with a pilot robot. It was a great idea, and I'd love to see more of this kind of thing. We got something like it this year with Micronus Prime, which I'll be posting about next week. Do read on, and come back tomorrow for a new one!
Captain Ron schools some Autobots in a twist anyone who has been to Macy's probably saw coming, as the show introduces the last of the wave 1 guys. I still like the show a lot.

Star Wars Review: Scout Trooper (Red Tech Speeder Bike / Epic World of Action)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Scout Trooper (Red Tech Speeder Bike / Epic World of Action). The classic deco at stores is being cleared out, but this red "tech" variant has been showing up online. The figure itself is the same, but the bike has some added paint with clear red plastic accessories. It's weird, so I like it - but good luck tracking it down outside online sellers. Via Tubi (thanks Trixter for the heads-up): Challenge of the GoBots is on Tubi, one of the many free streaming services you've been ignoring, with what appears to be a very nice remastering. Compared to The Transformers, the animation looks crisp and free of the horrible jaggies which were smoothed out by our CRTs when we watched our old DVDs. You can see the people from Gobotron, which I hadn't thought about much since first watching this show in the 1980s. In the first episode alone you'll hear Rene AbeRenˇ Auberjonois (Odo! Clayton Endicott III!), Brock Peters (Tom Robinson! Joseph Sisko! NPR Darth Vader!), and a bevy of familiar sound effects ripped from Star Wars and Star Trek. And of course Frank Welker as Scooter, doing a voice you've heard as Darwin and many others.
The show looks really good, especially for 1980s toy commercial kidvid. The story, well, there's a reason one toy robot franchise made it and the other didn't despite both debuting the same month in 1984. I'd recommend checking it out - watch an episode of this, then go watch a few seconds of The Transformers. The difference is stark. I don't know if I'm going to watch the entire series, but it was fun to revisit an old Hanna-Barbera cartoon and surprising to see that it looked a heck of a lot better than I remember.

New! The Super7 Devo Booji Boy ReAction Figure may or may not be the last figure we get. We haven't had any of the drummers yet, and I assume due to most of their no longer being in the band and/or alive there may be likeness issues - so we get Booji Boy! Arguably a great addition for fans of weird looking action figures, this character was Mark Mothersbaugh in a rubber baby mask. It shouldn't be a figure, but here he is, and he turned out well! Read on, and come back tomorrow for more fun!
Good or bad, shows like this tend to bring in new (lapsed) fans and help sell a lot of toys. So if it happens, bully for Megatron-armed Optimus Prime sales. There aren't many new opportunities for adults to re-engage with G1-era stuff - they're not really reading all that many comics - so this is potentially good news for getting new people into this before everybody ages out.
Via BadComputer: Astro Climber. It's a new Sega Master System game to celebrate its 40th anniversary, and it's a free download. I've been playing it on an old TV and it looks really great. It plays like a number of climbing games, or a reverse Mr. Driller.
There's not much to it, but it's the kind of thing you'd play on an old demo kiosk and really enjoy. Give it a shot, if you have the means to play it.
Star Wars Review: Senni Tonnika (Cantina - The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Senni Tonnika (Cantina - The Vintage Collection). She was near the top of a very short list of figures that it seemed Hasbro (and Kenner) might never make - but here we are! In the 1990s we were hoping for a figure with six joints and now we've got a super-articulated figure with a separately molded wig, a blaster, a glass, and an alternate hand. You can't ask for much more here, other than maybe a reissue for those who skipped out on the HasLab Cantina.
There are no stretch goals and it has about 32 days left to go. If you're in the market for some Tron stuff, it might be good to get ahead of this one as it doesn't look great for its prospects.
