Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: DD-BD (Droid Factory, Carded). A new droid mold? In this economy? It can happen! I really like this little guy, and am thrilled to see something more than repaints or new versions of figures I've had for 30-50 years. If you can find one, I highly recommend picking one up, even if you didn't see Solo: A Star Wars Story. How often do we ever get a completely new Star Wars droid or alien action figure? It's pretty uncommon, so this is truly an exciting new arrival.

New Super ZSNES For Widescreen, Audio, Video Upgrades
Via Modern Vintage Gamer: Super ZSNES - GPU Powered SNES emulation is here! What is it? It adds textures. It can give some actual 3D to 2D Mode 7 games like F-Zero. It does music and sound enhancements - and apparently will include a toolkit so you can edit stuff, too.
I haven't grabbed it yet, but I did watch the video. You can download it here and it's on Mac, Windows, Linux, and Android so far. I'd recommend taking some time to check out the video - it starts to get a little overly technical, but you can see what it does. I really like seeing the widescreen feature, which currently supports only some of the background layers - so not the sprites, or some of the floating layers in the middle. Still, it's an amazing start and makes it seem like you have an excuse to re-replay Super Metroid again.
Newish! Mattel He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Cartoon Collection King Randor Action Figure is an online exclusive, and I've noticed the crowns seem to be a little off-center. Well, that's not perfect. It's still a brightly-colored figure that looks like the cartoon, so consider hunting this one down in stores so you can find the best possible head. I like it. I do wish it was a little better in its assembly, though. Read on!
Classic Review: Mattel Masters of the Universe Classics Trap Jaw
Something new every day-- but this was posted 10 years ago today! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Posted 10 years ago! Easily the best version of the character to date, Mattel Masters of the Universe Classics Trap Jaw even has the fly swatter arm. That's as good as this kind of thing gets - hopefully you got one. The Origins figures never included the swatter, so you're left to 3D print one that won't color match. Maybe they'll make one down the road - I can hope!

Review: Hasbro Transformers Studio Series Deluxe Devastation Bumblebee Action Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
New! The Hasbro Transformers Studio Series Deluxe Devastation Bumblebee Action Figure is a widely-available toy for 2026 with a decent robot mode and a decent car mode. I found the car mode sort of locks in place, as the head gets stuck and I needed tools to be able to pry it back out. I didn't really enjoy the experience very much, but the design is decent. If you don't plan to transform this figure, it's decent. Read on!
Via LEGO: SEGA¨ Genesisª Console. It's a little lumpier, but it's a lot cheaper - most consoles are over $100, this one is $39.99. (Fun fact, so was the Sega Genesis console near the end of its run.)
It has two little controllers and a cartridge for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and some cool Easter Eggs inside the build. It even says Mega Drive on the box to placate you non-Americans out there. Why now? I have no idea - the original console came out in America in 1989, so this doesn't really seem to line up with any particular global launch-iversary. I wasn't planning on buying it, but it does say 16-bit on it, so... who knows.
Star Wars Review: Poggle the Lesser (The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Poggle the Lesser (The Vintage Collection). His last new figure was about 20 years ago, so this new super-articulated version with more paint and jointed wings is a big improvement. While not a perfect match for what we saw on screen, they got a lot of the details just right. The bracelets could have been a little more chaotic, but the general vibe of the character and the coloration are the best we've had. Read the whole review.
Review: Super7 Spinal Tap Nigel Tufnel ReAction Figure
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
His actual insides! The Super7 Spinal Tap Nigel Tufnel ReAction Figure is a superbly neat figure, but it's also showing up at Ross for $4.99. As such, he's totally worth the asking price. The shirt is from the movie, the guitar is from later specials, and they did a nice job making it over at Super7. It's worth picking up.
Via Icon Heroes: KB Toys Enamel Pins. Each one is $9.99, and they're due later this year.
A few years ago, there was some fuss made over someone having the trademarks for the store - and then nothing came of it. This is actually kind of interesting, and not a bad idea of what you can do with an old license. And if you're under 20, KB Toys (or Kay-Bee Toy and Hobby) was a leading mall toy shop in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Old! The Playmobil "Fi?ures" Figures Cherry Blossom Woman has a pink kimono plus an umbrella with - you guessed it - cherry blossoms. It's not a terribly complex figure, but the paint on her outfit and accessory make her stand out in the line. Does she have an obvious place to go in my toy boxes and/or shelves? Not really. But she was cheap, and she looks cool.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Marrok (The Vintage Collection). We didn't get one in Ahsoka, so now you can have one from Maul: Shadow Lord! He has a lot of articulation, and his cape. He even has a full lightsaber plus a hilt to stow on his back. They did a nice job with this one, so if you need more Inquisitors you'll want to pick him up.
Not new! Mattel He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Cartoon Collection Man-at-Arms Action Figure would be a great figure to have on shelves right now, as people are curious about the new movie and thinking about He-Man in general. Duncan has a stasis ray, a club, and a sculpt that looks a lot like the original cartoon squirted through the wide 5 1/2-inch figure format. Just imagine how cool these would look with "core" movie proportions! Ah well. It's still a great figure, just not cheap anymore - get it if you can find one. Read on!

Posted 10 years ago! More than a little unnecessary, Hasbro Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Wreck-Gar was a clever reuse of a mold that probably could just as easily have been a new guy, or a G2 recolor. For Junkion fanatics I'm sure it's semi-beloved, but the secondary market prices for this figure say "meh." It's cheap if you want one, so that's good news.

Review: Hasbro Transformers Age of the Primes Deluxe Swerve
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
New! The Hasbro Transformers Age of the Primes Deluxe Swerve is so good, the fact that mine had a piece left out doesn't have me railing against it. Yes, it's a Gears retool and yes, they left a metal pin out of the left shoulder of the one you'll see in this review. But the articulation? Very good. The colors? Vibrant. The character model? Arguably from a fan's animation model, misinterpreted from one episode of the cartoon, but at least it's interesting if incorrect. I assume we'll get more Swerves anyway, because we got more than one Gears. If you're a fan of the character from the comics, this isn't that - but it's close enough that I'm happy to have an update of one of the later minicars. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Imperial Droid (With Probe-Mate Hyperspace Pod, Droid Factory, Boxed). I missed this guy when he insta-sold out last year, but a friend of mine was at the theme park area and saw them for sale - so I got one. It's pretty much the same droid figure we got for the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, but the pod vehicle is new - and one of the first new vehicles from The Empire Strikes Back in a very long time. I would say that alone is worth the purchase, just because you can't exactly go to the store and buy any original trilogy Hasbro vehicles these days. Read the whole review.

Used and loving it! The Playskool Definitely Dinosaurs Parasaurolophus was from a mold sold in stores and also given away at Wendy's - I found mine at a second-hand collector toy store last year. I had a few of thees guys as a kid, but not blue, cranky-looking, complaint-faced fellow. He's only jointed at the neck, and he's cheap - you can't go wrong with this kind of a purchase.

Not recent! The Playmobil "Fi?ures" Figures Genie came out around 2021, and she's got a fancy vest - and plans to match. I haven't seen mystery bag Playmobil figures in stores in quite a while, but I can say TJ Maxx seems to be getting recent closeout boxed sets - they don't have magic carpets or anything. They seem to be trending away from culture-specific toys, but ther are plenty out there like this fully-for-Playmobil articulated figure with accessories. They did a nice job with the vest printing, and the bottle with pillow is no slouch. Give it a look.
Star Wars Review: IG-11 (Nevarro Marshal, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: IG-11 (Nevarro Marshal, The Vintage Collection). It's not a new mold, but it's a good mold. It's also a mold that's been on clearance at Ross with more accessories - but it's a really nice redeco, with new accessories. I'm fond of it, because it's not another trooper and because we don't have any other droids painted quite this way. Heck, it's also new enough where you have a non-zero chance of finding one in a store somewhere. The paint isn't exactly like on the show, but you probably also wouldn't notice unless someone pointed it out to you. As such, I'd say this is a good one for fans of The Mandalorian to snag if you can find it.

Shaved! Blokees Transformers Defender Version 04 Tyrants Fury Scourge Action Figure tones down the facial hair, so it looks a little weird - but that also means it looks distinctive. He has a hand-firing blast effect, big wings, and generally looks like you'd expect - except the face. Maybe they'll do a version 2.0 later, in which case, you'll be glad to have this guy as a trooper of some sort. Read on, and come back Monday for more!
Via Zappa.com, today evidently: Zappa Õ66: Vol. 1 Ð Live at TTG Studios. What is it? According to the listings, online exclusive pre-"Freak Out" live recording of the Mothers, where you end up working for Zappa, and he makes you be a creep. You could have played the blues with John Mayall, or far-out exciting jazz with Blood, Sweat, & Tears.
There's a CD or a double-LP, and the CD is a surprisingly cheap $13.98. A lot of the songs seem new to me, so I'm probably going to decide over the weekend which one to get. It's got a different cut of "Duke of Prunes" so there's really something for everybody if you were a fan when you were 13.
New! Mattel Masters of the Universe Mekaneck Core Action Figure is so far seemingly showing up mostly online and at the larger-class Walmart stores. He's in wave 2 - and here in Arizona, Walmarts are getting wave 2 and Target is getting wave 1 with a tiny trickle of later figures. Each kiddo figure is a mere ten bucks, and fits in well with my old Origins vehicles and playsets. He doesn't have real action features, but you can pop in neck extenders and generally pose the figure quite well. He has wrist joints, but no ankles - a small thing to sacrifice given the massive price drop. It seems a lot of these guys are selling well, so I'd recommend picking him or any figure from the line up just to get an idea of what they can do for ten dollars nowadays. Read on!

Posted 10 years ago! Released 30 years ago, Kenner Transformers Beast Wars Cybershark is one of the best Transformers figures of his era! He had great articulation for its day, a massive tail blade weapon, two firing rockets with faces on them, and a hammerhead that also works as a launching projectile. The face had sharp teeth and more colors of paint than almost any other figure of its day, and oh yes - all of it tucks into a colorful shark mode. I remember seeing this one in stores a couple of years before buying my first Beast Wars figure and being very impressed, and it's still one of my absolute favorites. If you can ever find one for sale, you should get it.

Newish! The Hasbro Transformers Retro G1 Deluxe Outback is a Walmart exclusive and I've been seeing them all over town - so you can probably get one. This figure is a Brawn retool, and I'd say they did a nice job with it. It matches the G1 reissue colors, and seems to be painted to match a decent cross of the toy and the cartoon. Read on!
Star Wars Review: Imperial Remnant Stormtrooper (Standard, The Vintage Collection)
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Imperial Remnant Stormtrooper (Standard, The Vintage Collection). He doesn't have any added gear, but for a repaint it's an impressive figure. The dirty deco comes out of a 4-pack, and if you ask me looks way better than the treatment of the equivalent 6-inch figure. It's the same old mold, but as you can see the paint really makes it look brand new... and old. Read the whole review.

It's like a toy from the 1960s that wasn't made at the time! The Mattel Hot Wheels Custom Otto is based on the original cardback art featuring a then-unreleased car, in these colors. There's also a Super Treasure Hunt version, but the basic edition still has red lines and it's a buck and change when you find one. I think it was worth the hunt, I like this one a lot.

Old! The Playmobil 9440 Special Plus Bowler has a shirt with two very suggestive bowling pins, a ball return, and a scoreboard. Also six pins, because I guess somebody decided the budget wasn't there for ten. It's a great little set, and still relatively inexpensive despite being discontinued a few years ago
