16bit.com Figure of the Day Updated
|
Something new every day-- unless it's old! Our exciting non-Star Wars Figure of the Day continues for you lucky people! Is there anything we won't cover in this column? Probably not!
Enjoy some real bull! The Kenner ALIENS Bull Alien Action Figure is bizarre, phallic, and veiney. In many respects, it may say more about me than the designers, but this thing is at least vaguely suggestive right? I still had a lot of fun with it-- the head-ramming mechanism is, all jokes aside, quite impressive. So read on, read our Star Wars one too, and come back soon for more!

G.I. Joe Carded Renegades Storm Shadow on ACtoys
|
The G.I. Joe Renegades Storm Shadow showed up fully-packaged on ACtoys.net. The figure does include an alternate head as well as an astonishing amount of ninja gear-- considering the hubbub about missing weapons in some releases, this one seems to be nicely loaded still. Don't miss it!

Fan-Made Fighting Is Magic Makes Ponies Brawl
|
The developer Mane6 is doing a fan-made My Little Pony: Fighting Is Magic game. An adorable brawler that seems to owe a lot to Capcom's own Pocket Fighter, this game is currently up in video form and-- like a lot of these things-- is probably a long ways off so you may as well peek at it now.

LEGO Minifigures Series 6 (Again)

In case you missed it (and my notes say you probably did) take a look at the upcoming 2012 LEGO Minifigures Series 6 coming out in a month and change. This batch includes the Statue of Liberty, a Minotaur, a Surgeon, a Genie, and the best boxy robot yet.
Also notable, the LEGO Massively Multiplayer Game "LEGO Universe" is shutting down effective Janaury. It didn't seem to be widely known that it launched, but it did, and now it's over.

Packaged (and loose) Transformers Generations Junkheap, Sky Shadow

An article at HK-TF has Transformers Generations Sky Shadow and Scrap Heap pictures both in and out of the package. Transformers Generations Sky Shadow, Junkheap Found in USA
|
A guy found Transformers Generations Sky Shadow and Junkheap at a Toys R Us in Tucson, AZ. Some reports say Phoenix-- Tucson is about 90-120 minutes away from Phoenix, so no, it's not quite Phoenix.

Today we look at the R2-MK figure from Star Tours, the first droid with a hat! Go to Figure of the Day for the next update, with the latest installment in our ongoing series!

Big Boa Confirmed for G.I. Joe Collector's Club
|
And here's another one! GIJoeclub.com has confirmed Big Boa is definitely coming to the club subscription, and it may be the most impressive in the bunch
For more pictures, including what I think are the first-ever swappable hand accessories in this line, this G.I. Joe Club Facebook Update, which sports about eight more shots. It's a good thing they saved this one for last-- while the others look great, this one is clearly the best in the set. And, I suppose, were they to keep going, this would make a great Balrog.

GeneralsJoes.com Gets Early Lifeline, Zombie Viper Reviews
|
The Generals Joes guys posted a review of the new Zombie Viper! If ever there was a figure that could prove Hasbro is still willing to adapt G.I. Joe to current trends, this is it.
Also exciting is Lifeline, the medic who I'm beginning to worry might be tough to find.

Dark of the Moon Wheeljack Gallery; Awesome Article on Making Transformers

Sneaky peek! TFW2005.com has Dark of the Moon Wheeljack in its various modes.
If it doesn't remind you of Doc Brown, I'll be surprised-- his weapon is shown, as are comparisons to other recent toys.

O.M.F.G. Figures Get Exclusive Colors
|
We got an update from the October Toys O.M.F.G. Kickstarter campaign-- specifically, where you can find the four exclusive colors of these new M.U.S.C.L.E.-ESQUE figures! UofMuscle has Orange, Onell Design has Blue, LittleRubberGuys has green, and Rotofugi has Vibrant Blue. Each set is somewhere between $10 and $15 before shipping, and in addition to these there will be a flesh-colored set to match the original M.U.S.C.L.E. range, plus an exclusive-to-Kickstarter black series. I ordered a set of the fleshy guys so we'll have a review as soon as humanly possible, but as they have not asked for shipping addresses yet that might be a while still.

MOTUC Swiftwind Has Leg Problems, Maybe
|
Your pals at He-Man.org added a post about possible Swiftwind assembly problems to their site yesterday. From the site:
"He-Man.org member Skeletortilla was the first to report that there is a Quality Control Problem with Swiftwind. He states "It's VERY easy to spot. Look at both front legs and you'll see they both have the same squiggly vein on the same side, and both feet have the exact same crack pattern in the bottom of the hoof." Since his initial post, there are other fans who are reporting the same problem. It is important to note that not every Swiftwind is misassembled, so if fans haven't gotten their figure yet there's a chance that it could be correct."
It's a minor problem, but hey-- these are things worth knowing.

Zelda Pin Collection brings Classic Box Art to Pins
|
Unlike the US boxes, Japan had some gorgeous Zelda box art. NCS now has a set of pins based on classic Legend of Zelda artwork that should interest collectors of old Nintendo ephemera. A 16-pin pack is around $78.90, but this means you don't have to do the blind box thing, and at 200 yen per unit... well, I guess it's a toss-up.

Also exciting is the PSOne port of four Final Fantasy V games for $9.99. Which, honestly, seems high given it was part of a set that was $20 for two games back in the 2000s.

Figure of the Day has updated once again! The daily feature on figures you might have but might not-- either way, here's what you've been missing! Spanning from the original Power of the Force series of 1995 to the latest of The Vintage Collection, it's almost like a history lesson!

No New Games for the Xbox 360 Live Arcade, Instead Sale
|
Xbox 360 owners, it's time to look into the Xbox Live Fan Appreciation Sale, with a bunch of discounts on Windows Live, Mobile, Xbox, and DLC content. (And some of it is actually good!) The fantastic Civilization Revolution is on sale as a $30 download... although I got the actual disc for about $15 at a Target store so you might want to shop around on the Games On Demand first. (But it is a fine game.)
Anyway, Major Nelson has the full list.

Outer Space Men 2011 Infinity Packaging Revealed

Due to ship in December, you can get a preview of the Outer Space Men 2011 packaging at FourHorsemen.biz. As always, they feature exceptional graphic design and awesome photography, so you should be glad to know (if you didn't already) the packaging is meant to come apart easily so you may re-insert the figures. As direct-to-consumer figures, they have no UPCs and aren't sealed-- you can slide the plastic bubble off the cardback and replace the figure as you see fit.

More Playmobil 2012 Blind Bags Coming- Gaga, Aeon Flux, Statue of Liberty
|
Over at Playmofriends are scans of more Plamobil Fi?ures from later next year showing there will be at least 48 split between 4 series. Wow. The figures are not explicitly named, but it looks like they're taking inspiration from Tomb Raider, Lady Gaga, and many other areas of world history, sports, and pop culture. In short: start saving and set aside some time to fondle the bags as there's no easy way to tell what's in which one.

Kero Kero Starscream in Japan
|
Free! But you can't get it. TFW2005 has news on a Kero Kero Ace Exclusuive Legends Starscream toy, which... well, I don't understand either. I've picked up numerous Japanese magazines over the years which include a small toy, so "Keroroscream" is another in a proud line of weirdness that I wish we could see more of here in the USA. (Think of it like cereal toys, but better, and packaged with magazines.) No word yet on how to get one but I would say it's a safe bet you will see many on eBay for $10 or so shortly.
