Massive Catalog of All Nintendo Software, Hardware 1983-2011
|
The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has a 195-page catalog of all Japanese Nintendo software and hardware including portables, consoles and so forth. The only thing not exciting about this is that it's not entirely in English.
It's not cheap-- importers are asking just shy of $20. But considering what it is, well, if it were for American software I'd be buying it.

Another OMFG (Outlandish Mini Figure Guys) Color?
|
It's hard to tell for sure, but this is either a slightly tweaked-out shot or possibly a new OMFG Red Stroll figure as posted by the artist Spanky Stokes. I asked via the Twitter to see if they're a new color but if they aren't, well, just enjoy a shot of 170 of the little buggers in a giant sack. I sure did.
UPDATE: Just regular flesh colored figures.

OMFG Kickstarters Delivered, I Got Mine
|
The Kickstarter-supported OMFG Outlandish Mini Figure Guys Series 1 has apparently shipped. They said it would be done with bigger supporters, than smaller, as first-come, first-served and I was near the end of the list. So odds are by now, everybody pretty much has theirs. Click the thumb for a preview shot of next week's FOTD! I posted a shot to Twitter (see thumb here) comparing one of my personal childhood M.U.S.C.L.E. figures to these new guys-- the color is pretty close, the new ones are a little pinker and a little brighter. The old guys feel a smidgen more translucent.
The flesh-colored figures will be sold at October Toys soon. They said after the Kickstarter figures went out, which they did, so it could be any time now!

January 20, 2012 Onell Design Glyos Drop Details... Detailed
|
Your pals and mine at Onell Design posted a big list of all the new stuff coming out next week. Highlights include EMD Rig Runners and EMD Core Blocks, the former of which sounds delightful and the latter of which seems confusing.
More Glyans, Travelers, another Rig, and pretty much anything else you could want is coming and the bulk of it seems to be black and orange. So, yipee. You should go over there to read everything. "More surprises" are listed, and it's my hope there's no surprise Outer Space Men as I'd totally want to know in advance. But I gotta get a Rig Runner, definitely. Read more at the Glyos news dump.

OMFG Flesh Available Now
|
The fantastic and amazing October Toys OMFG Outlandish Mini Figure Guys Series 1 Is Available Now for ten bucks a set. (Shipping is pretty cheap-- but Kickstarter supporters effectively got free shipping.) The MUSCLE-inspried deco brings you 5 really awesome small figures and is an astonishingly great example of how a small group of fans put up some money, time, and effort to make something great. As someone who hasn't been a big fan of the bulk of indie and/or vinyl toy lines, this-- along with all things Glyos-- is a fantastic, real-deal toy you can play with and it's pretty cheap, too.
The review of this line will be posted in Figure of the Day tomorrow. (I give it high marks.)

Yet another prototype has surfaced! Check out the LittleRubberGuys.com exclusive preview of... not Gargantuan Gorilla! The forum has shots of this, a small, "human" proportioned armored animal. To say the least, it's a very interesting time to be a fan of this apparently not-at-all forgotten toy line.

New Games for the Xbox 360 Live Arcade Released
|
Xbox fans, it's time to download Scarygirl, a $15/1,200 point game. Love games based on Graphic Novels you've never read? Microsoft says:
"Scarygirl is a wondrous adventure through a beautifully-bizarre world based on the Scarygirl graphic novel created by acclaimed artist Nathan Jurevicius. Scarygirl, an abandoned girl, dressed like a pirate, with a tentacle arm, is sent on a quest to discover what happened to the Tree of Knowledge. Along the way, shešll be aided by a giant octopus, a mystical kung-fu rabbit, and vendors who sell new attacks. She can also enter a shadowy version of the world to unleash truly wicked attacks."
Also new is Haunt, a $10/800 point Kinect haunted house game. I gotta say, it looks neat.

The new DC Entertainment Logo is kind of dopey! But you probably saw it and already have an opinion of what you think it looks like. Favorites sent to me on Twitter so far include "like a penis" and "hard to read." I thought it looked like some futuristic colored pencil manufacturer's logo.

Metroid Figures Coming to Japan, Life Is Worth Living
|
Oh baby. New Metroid toys and articulated figures are quite uncommon, so today's two new announcements are spectacular. Max Factory is releasing two figures, including Figma Samus Aran and a Zero Suit Statue with an actual Metroid. Surprisingly, the articulated figure is cheaper despite being the same size as the skin-tight costume statue. They're due this Summer.
Also, our pal Suribot points to this picture showing the interactivity between the two figures.

New Games for the Xbox 360 Live Arcade Released

Xbox fans, it's time to download Quarrel, a $5/400 point word game. Microsoft says:
"QUARREL is the most novel word game ever made. But donšt just take our word for it grab it now and enter a universe where WORDS (11 points) literally speak louder than ACTIONS (8 points). Use a cool combination of word power and strategic cunning to crush your opponents and reign supreme. Come settle your differences with wordplay rather than swordplay; make verbal not chemical weapons; load up with letters not bullets and use chatter to batter your enemies into submission and rule the world. Compete to use your troops to make the highest-scoring word from the letters given then capture territories and conquer islands in this wholly original virtual board game.
"
Also new is Puddle, a $10/800 point puzzle game where you guide various fluids through various environments. It sounds like a lot of fun, actually.
