TMBG "Glean" Record Actually Ships on Vinyl

  While other formats have been available for a while, last week saw actual shipments of Glean by They Might Be Giants on vinyl to stores and online shops. I found one at Zia Records in Phoenix.
One thing I was unable to glean from the package - eh? eh? - was if it included MP3s or not. My copy of "Nanobots" didn't, but "Glean" does indeed sport a download card.

New Jurassic World Hitting

 I've been going to stores and seeing lots of newness. I took some pictures with my Nintendo 2DS camera, as I do not carry a phone, because I can. These Hasbro Jurassic World toys were spotted at a Phoenix-area Walmart, and - as far as I know - may be the end of the line for 2015 as Star Wars is about to take over for Q4. And while I love Star Wars, I kind of hate that.
New items include the Ceratosaurus, Dilophosaurus (not shown), brown Stegoceratops, green T-Rex, and the big stomping Tyrannosaurus Rex. It's new and costs more. A new T-Rex playset should also be showing up with these, I haven't seen it yet but as these are showing up at Targets too odds are you'll see it soon.

 Also at Walmart, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutations Giant Leonardo Playset. When I was young, "micro" was all the rage - you paid $10-$15 for a small toy which opened up with a tiny world inside. This one is a 24-inch action figure which opens up to make a huge playset for your regular-sized action figures.
It's sort of preposterously big, relative to its given shelf space. Jakks Pacific's 31- and 20-inch figure paradigm has proven popular, so you'll see other companies with certain licenses find a way around it in order to do a similar, competing product. This is Playmates' pretty creative attempt.

  For fans of army building, Amazon Japan added Transformers Adventure TAV-28 Vehicon Ground General. He's due in September, and pre-orders will set you back $30ish depending on where you shop - obviously, it's cheaper in Japan.
This one is based on the revised deluxe mold from Prime, but now in what seems to be either silver or a pearlescent white.

  The toymaking lovely people at October Toys posted a swell Grimskull Update. The Kickstarter for this Glyos-compatible figure goes up the first week of September, and based on what was previewed at Comic-Con it's looking good.
It's also the 20th anniversary of the brand. If you remember reading about it in Tomart's Action Figure Digest too, that means that you are old and that this is the mummy's curse.

More New Transformers - United Rumble, Frenzy Returning to Japan
|
|
 A bunch of new toys are up on Amazon Japan, and TAV-32 Frenzy and Rumble should be of interest to most American fans. It's a non-US release - these molds of these characters weren't ever sold in the USA. At 3,780 yen (US $32), they cost exactly the same as the 2011 release. Which, given all the talk of inflation in the toy business and rapid, steep price increases in American Transformers, is certainly eyebrow-raising.
I reviewed the United release of these guys - they were OK. The new versions have slightly different - and in some cases, more - paint. Get them cheaper if you can.
